Very, very dificult question. Hush is a fraking masterpiece of TV, but come on, Restless is about dreams (which has been a topic of fascination of mine ever since I was five or six years old... I first heard the names Freud and Jung before finishing elementary school. 😀) and doing a dang great job at it.

In the end, Restless wins out for me... but just barely.

I think this is pretty much how I feel too
Watching hush now. Willow's dream...
-don't step on my cues
-the audience wants to find you, strip you alive, and eat you
- I got here early that's why I get to be cowboy guy
-I've come looking for a man, sales man
-men! With your sales!

Xander's dream
-ok... I'm gonna find another bathroom
-Giles and spike swinging
-like a shark...like a shark with feet and much less fins...and on land!
-a watcher scoffs at gravity!
-i think I figured out how to steer by gesturing emphatically
-I'm getting a cramp

Giles dream
-love love love spike's poses!
-haven't you figured it all out yet with your enormous squishy frontal lobe?
-quiet! You'll miss the humorous conclusion.

Buffy's dream
-Riley and Adam - we're drawing up a plan for world domination the key is coffee makers that think
-we're very busy filing and giving things names
- we better build a fort - I'll get pillows

Hope that wasn't too annoying. Love this episode!

Hush by a country mile. Restless is really confusing for me and a lot of the episode I just find boring. Hush makes me laugh and the story has structure which the episode Restless never has.

For me it's Hush, I like Restless, but love the concept of an episode where nobody can talk. Also that fact it's got a few comedy moments in it

After my first watch I'd say Hush without a doubt. Now things have changed. Hush is funny at times, Willow and Tara and the idea of an episode without talking (well it's more like half an episode but still) is great. Still Restless now win for me. Don't like all of it and it is weird. As it should be. But the first time watching I was just a huge questionmark wondering what crap I've just watched.

I chose Hush. It's really funny and relevant to the storyline.

I love Giles's song in Restless though! Awesome 70's rock song! I wish there was a longer version!

Yes I'm a really big fan of Restless, and even though Hush is awesome, I'd pick Restless. Simply because most of the episode is centered on the core four characters of the show and it explore their mind and personality. It also gives us a view on where they're heading. The music is amazing, and the multitude of foreshadowing is exceptional! 😀

I agree. I adore Restless for these reasons. It was a nice ending to season 4 especially, since the season also had them finding out more about themselves and who they wanted to be.

I'd have to pick Hush. I just read a massive essay on Restless, and now I understand it more and I understand that not all the characters were who they appeared to me. And I love the characters the way they are, so Hush for me. Although Restless is hysterical, those bits are sometimes undermined by the complete wtf moments. Whereas Hush was funny and genuine and a part of the central season plot.

And Buffy's staking mime action and everyone's reaction gets me every time. xD In fact, that whole lecture theatre scene is hilarious.

And Hush also has Giles kissage. rawr

I choose Restless, always. This is like my favorite episode. I believe in dreams' meaning and it was really great to find out what Scoobies' dreams mean.
I love Spike-great-to-be-watcher and Spike's photoshoot. Also I like Willow's dream. And Cheese-man! This episode is great, really great.

Hush is cool too, but I wasn't really amazed by that episode.

Hush is one of my favorite episodes and Restless is probably at the bottom. Maybe I need to watch Restless again but I just didn't connect with the dream sequence.

Hush was amazing. It was fun and scary and hilarious.

How many times have you watched Restless and Hush?

The first time around I didn't get the point of Restless and just thought it was weird. Now it's fun to watch to see how much forshadowing I can notice.

That's a tough question!

Hush is very important for the story line and brilliantly written and directed. It's not easy to communicate, and they only started doing it when they stopped talking. That's when everything's revealed. My only problem with the episode: Riley! I hate that guy, so"¦ he kind of ruins it to me lol

Restless"¦ it doesn't bring anything to this season but is a crucial spoiler for the fifth (and even senth) season. We are introduced to the theme of a primal slayer and its true nature, something we'll see a lot during season 5, starting in the first episode, when Dracula calls Buffy a killer and not a Slayer, not mention Tara's words, first "You think you know ... what's to come ... what you are. You haven't even begun." Then "Be back before Dawn".

So"¦ after a long debate between me and my brain"¦ I had to choose Restless

I saw Hush like 3 times and Restless once. You're right, it was weird the first time I watched it. Maybe thats why 😕 🙂

Hush for me. I'm glad the show was versatile enough to include an episode like Restless - and as a season finale, no less - but I don't actually enjoy watching it that much. I do like the way Primeval and Restless bring it back to the core four though.

I love both of them because they're both creative and different than all the other episodes but I'd have to say Restless.

Hush was brilliantly done and really eerie but I love the depth of Restless.

Restless revealed so much about the characters in a subtle manner.
