I wanted to open a thread since i find it interesting (I think to have probably experienced something similar 2 days ago, during the waking up from sleep, since i don't believe in "ghosts, etc").

Hypnagogic and hypnopompic hallucinations are sleep-related hallucinations: hypnagogic hallucinations happen during falling asleep, and hypnopompic hallucinations happen during the waking up.
In the past and across different cultures, the experience of these kinds of hallucinations has been the basis of the belief in ghosts' sights during sleep or visitations of spirits, demons or other grotesque creatures.

What do you think about these things? Have you ever experienced hypnagogic or hypnopompic hallucinations?

Yes, hearing my name being called is one I got often. Just dozing off and suddenly woken up by someone yelling me name. I never care, I just fall asleep again. Hasnt happened in years.

I have a few other experiences but they were all when I was heavily medicated so I believe they were caused by the medication as I've never had any sort of "experience" since being off them. I'm ver glad because it could be horrifying.

I also let my sleep pattern flow now rather than forcing it into specific hours. I sleep more around new moon and less during a full moon. I have less nightmares when I'm not trying to push myself into strict structure.

It happened 2 times to me that i remember lucidly, both times happened without anything inducing, since i never had medications or drugs.

This time, after waking up (or during the waking up phase?) i saw a woman standing near me, initially only as a shadow, since the room was dark, it lasted only a moment, not even a minute. I think she was like a woman of past years? from her hairstyle that reminded me older times, but her face was completely ripped off to the point that the skull of her face was visible (she didn't have the eyes, from what i remember), then when i acquired more consciousness and lucidity (because of the scary impact, like jump scares) i think to have seen her vanishing. I know to have been wake because i watched the alarm before. It was the moment of waking up, where the conscious and unconscious minds are probably mixing or when the mind isn't completely wake but still in a state intermediate with the sleep. I don't know, since it can seem absurd.

It already happened years ago, something similar. Probably hallucinations during after the sleep phase.

Mine were similar to this. The worst I had was when I was inpatient in hospital so heavily medicated in a scary place, sleep paralysis is horrifying.
I've had a few auditory hallucinations, hearing my name or some strange sound. I've read that visions of being held down by demons or aliens can be due to the fact that our brain keeps our muscles from acting out our dreams, but sometimes when we are half-asleep, we become aware of this disconnect and feel trapped.
