Hey everyone so today i got a job as a cook apparently tomorrow ill be making eggs pancakes and bacon and im scared beyond reason I mean i cook all the time and my sister and mom worked as cooks and waitresses but im scared any advice?

Soon after you break the first egg, it quickly becomes a chore.

I speak this from my experience of cooking for friends in parties almost every time (and of course without the special ingredient in my avatar😛).

Welcome to the ranks of the Gainfully employed!

I do have some experience working as a cook, or, rather, "mess cook," as we were called in the Navy, before attaining my official rating as I C Electrician, and part of that duty was preparing breakfast for 250 men every morning, so I can give you this advice, some of which you almost certainly already know.

1) Allow yourself plenty of time to set up and be prepared for when the actual cooking starts.
2) Have all of your supplies ready and on hand. Running out of bacon in the middle of a serving line doesn't make for happy diners.
3) Believe it or not, it's actually easier to cook for 20 than it is for 2, because the measurement for ingredients isn't all that critical.
4) Be very sparing with seasonings, especially salt and pepper. Most people prefer to "fix" their own eggs to their particular taste.
5) If you cook it, eat it. If the cook won't even eat his own food, you can't really expect others to eat it, either.
6) Smile. Even when your back hurts, your fingers are burnt, and you've got an ingrown toenail that hurts every time that you take a step, act like you just love what you're doing. (That way, the boss will be more likely to promote you to some other job. Most bosses, whether they will admit it or not, are suspicious of anyone who enjoys their work too much, Still a happy worker will usually be dependable and actually want to be working. That usually impresses management)

Good luck.

I have no experience as a professional cook to share with you, but think about it logically, it's something you know, they wouldn't have hired you if you weren't good enough, so please try to relax. Once your first day is over, you'll wonder why you were so scared. 🙂

Good luck for tomorrow! Let us know how it goes.

A new job is always daunting. Give it a week or two and you'll be an old pro and friends with everyone. Congratulations!

I will second Gwen here and then just wish you luck!
After the first few weeks I bet you'll be exhausted, then you'll feel comfortable in your role and things will flow more easily! Have fun and try not to spit in anyone's food 🙂

Dont put in any secret ingredients.. I dont care how bad your day is going or how much you hate your job no one wants to eat that stuff.

I was a cook for awhile. I decided I was man enough to do the cutting without that little metal glove... that's why the tip of my middle finger is missing. It did not hurt as much as one would think but I contaminated all of the food. We still served it of course!

Mmmm, fleshy.
Dont forget that you got hired because you have cooking skills and someone believes you can do the job well. So try not to be scared and keep your head up!

And congrats on the job!

They took the biggest chunk of fingernail (yes the fingernail was still attached to the finger!) so I dont think anyone actually ate me.
Well Done! Hope there are nice people there, that's the most important thing. Be confident in your skills and you will do great!

Congrats and good luck! I'd say don't be afraid to all for help and learn as much as you can, without getting overwhelmed. You're first day is always rough. If you have any concerns, then speak up. If you don't know how to do something then have someone teach you. I'm sure you'll do fine though.
