I Hate Xander!!

I'm another anti-Xander. I really dislike him especially in season 3.

Example: He's so mean to Cordy. He does not deserve to be mean to her. He's the one who cheated on her with Willow. Cordy was impaled because of him.

Sure she dished out the cruel remarks but she had every right! But Xander always goaded her.

What does everyone else think? Was he too hard on Cordy?

Do you mean after they broke up? I seem to remember she being pretty nasty to him. He deserved it, though. I think in the end they certainly found peace with each other, and were able to fight side by side again. I always thought them getting together seemed forced. It was like, well, they couldn't put him with Willow (yet) and Buffy wasn't an option. Cordelia was the only other girl around...They didn't have much in common. It was more a sexual thing, I think. Which is funny because they never slept together...

I loved them together. I thought it was great for awhile. I actually thought the Xander-Willow thing felt a little forced and it broke my heart when Cordy and Oz walked in on them. Xander got what he deserved when she treated him like crap. I think by the end he'd just taken enough. There's no real making up for what he'd done and he couldn't be her punching bag forever. He still cared for her. I think they found peace too. Around the time he bought her the dress. It was his way of saying I care for you and you deserve to be happy. I don't hate Xander. It's unfortunate what happened as a result of the sudo-fling but he's basically a descent guy.

Agreed. He's an alright guy. He's funny and brave. And of course, he does save the world. He obviously cares deeply for Buffy and Willow. It killed me too when Ozlow broke up. I was like, NOOOO! But hey, in the end it worked out, because we got Tillow 🙂

Since I'm not a Cordy/Xander 'shipper, I'm not all that bothered. (Xanya for life. 😉) But, trying not to be too biased, I don't actually think he was all that harsh on Cordelia. She was a bitch before she went out with him, and even still when they were together; it wasn't his fault about him and Willow (I mean, no-one's saying Willow hurt Oz, and I think it was a bigger strain on them; as they were so close) I mean, teenagers; hormones, blame all that jazz. I suppose it was his fault that she was impaled by the metal rod, but it wasn't his intent, so I don't hate Xander. Xander rocks; not so much in the first three seasons, admittedly, but once season four comes around I love him.

Cordelia's behavior was a defense mechanism. Deep down, she wanted to be loved and accepted. I feel sorry for anyone who is insecure on that level.

Xander and Cordelia seemed to be on very friendly terms in the last scene at the end of Season 3. I always kinda figured that at some point that following summer, before Cordy left to seek her fortune in LA, they had at least a short period of reconciliation, maybe even one of those "One for the road," moments that she seemed ti like so well. Of course, that's just my often over active imagination kicking in again...

I thought the whole Cordy/Xander relationship was funny, but I didn't really take it seriously. I like both characters, but I just didn't see it working out. They where just TO different to make it work. They never really let up on each other even during the happy times when they where dating. So, even if Cordy hadn't seen him kiss Willow, I have a feeling something else would have broken them up. It was only a matter of time.

Cordelia chose Xander over her friends and popularity. Sure it might not seem like much to us, but those things were very important to her. She sacrificed a lot for that relationship. Sure she was mean, but let's not act like the scoobies were innocent victims either. They got their jabs in too.

Anyway, I don't hate Xander but I don't care much for him. If he would have died sometime in the series, I wouldn't shed a tear. It always bothered me how guilt free he was about cheating on Cordelia. He obviously didn't take the relationship as seriously as Cordy did.

He's done some stupid stuff, yes, but he's probably the greatest guy ever. So sweet, funny, and kind.

I don't think Xander is sweet, I always see it as fake.
I didn't find his jokes funny, I found them lame, and usually snide.
He could be kind, and a nice guy - but hey, so can the majority of people.

I could never find anything about Xander that was special, or likeable. I know this is part of his appeal to people, he was the everyman, but I don't like the everyman in real life. I like people that strive to be better then that.

Oh yes, it's definitely a bit harsh! I do tend to be harsh (sometimes overly harsh) on people I don't like, maybe it's human nature, maybe I'm just a bitca, but I just am.

Once again - I know people like Xander, and admire him, but I just don't. I have reaons, but I don't expect anyone to agree with me. It's just an opinion.

I actually enjoyed the Xander/Cordy phase. I thought they were a good match, and while Xander obviously bought something new and nicer out of Cordelia, I think she also bought out something different in him.

Also they could both word-spar with each other which I enjoyed much more then all other Xander trying to be funny moments!

Sometimes I hate Xander. There are moments where I like Xander. There was one moment where I loved Xander (his speech to Dawn in "Potential"). And the rest of the time, I'm rather indifferent to Xander.

I love Xander so much. The character of Xander reminds me so much of a couple of my guy friends so I could never hate him. The thing about the Xander is that his character was meant to be exactly what he was: a regular guy. He has flaws, gets confused when he thinks with his pee pee, and makes mistakes just like any guy does. I don't think he was too harsh to Cordelia. He tried to be nice in the beginning and be understanding for how she was feeling but he didn't allow her to walk all over him for making the mistake he did to go behind her back with Willow, and he shouldn't have.
I had always wanted to see Xander and Willow together, but I hated the way it was done and how rushed it was. It was like "Let's give the Xillow fans what they want for 3 seconds and take it away again." It broke my heart to see Ozlow broken up, though, so I was happy with the way it worked out for them. But to get back on topic, no I absolutely don't think he was too mean to Cordy. And besides, even if they did have their mean moments, he totally made up for it when he bought her prom dress for her. 😀

Don't bring up that moment! It's the one moment where I absolutely LOVE Xander. Such a nice, selfless thing to do for Cordelia. I wish they had have given him more moments like that! And less lame jokes!
