I Really Like Anya

At first I was also left with a disliking of the character. But when I started rewatching the show, I started thinking "She's a hell of a woman!". She's actually one of my very favourite character!
First of all, as you all know, she is funny as hell!
I also think that for an ex-demon, she adjust very well to human's life, finds a job that she really loves, a future husband 🙂confused2🙂...
I like the way she does what she says other humans do, like "Oh, they hug, so I will give a hug too!" (the first hugs she gives are so funny, but they become more, natural in the end. But she still have that "how long is a hug supposed to be" kind of attitude :giggle🙂
And when she taps someone's shoulder to say "It's gonna be okay"...It gets me everytime! :giggle:
It's in season 5 she really started to have more feelings in my opinion, like in Real Me, when she tells Buffy she doesn't have to be too hard on Dawn because she's pretty shaken up. I thought "ANYA says that? Waw!".
Her speech in the body makes you understand the character a lil bit more...she's not exactly rude, she tries to understand! (okay, sometimes she's rude:biggrin3🙂
I love in Forever when she makes that speech to Xander, telling him she has finally accepted the fact she would get older, and was ready to have children some day. But when he was ready for it. That's was a great moment.
In this season, it's also the first time she helps fighting an apocalypse instead of running away!

And! When the other Scoobies are like "Buffy, Buffy, what are we gonna do, what are YOU gonna do?", Anya helps, and even if some of her ideas are crazy, she is pro-active! I'm thinking about her in The Gift (the God's hammer was her idea, go Anya, go!), and in Flooded.

I just really like her character:biggrin3:

Anya is one of my favourite characters on tv ever. First, she was this funny character which I loved, then they started to develop her more and more and I got to love her even more. Also, I don't think Willow hated Anya, I just think she was a bit jealous because she cared for Xander a lot. She was jealous at Cordy at first, then she was uncomfortable when she found out he slept with Faith. I just she just wants best for him, but she doesn't understand Anya is the best thing for him 😉 Also, it's quite common in the show that they don't like each other love choices. 🙂

I think she is absolutely adorable, constantly saying cute, funny things. I think that for all her social awkwardness and unusual bluntness she manages to come across as more human than most.

ITA with that last part

StarSlayer agrees: Same here. And her monologue in The Body is probably my favorite Anya scene.

That scene was amazing! It always makes me cry!!! But then I think about what Emma said at Paleyfest and the tears go away lol

Aww, now you have to tell us what she said! 😉

Some of my fav lines are from Anya. My fav dialogue in probably the entire series (although it is sooo hard to choose!) is this exchange from Into the Woods (which is sooo much funnier when heard than read):

Anya: Who ordered more chickens' feet? The ones we have aren't moving at all.
Xander: That's generally what happens when you cut them off the chicken.
Anya: I'm serious! Maybe we could do a... holiday promotion. One free with every purchase!
Giles: Oh, yeah. Dear holiday memories. Merry tykes by the fire, enjoying their new Christmas... chicken feet.
Willow: Aw, holding them tight as they fall asleep. Painting their little toenails.
Anya: That's very humorous. Make fun of the ex-demon! I can just hear you in private. "I dislike that Anya. She's newly human and strangely literal."

ETA that I'm watching S3, and I don't really like her that much. She's not quite the quirky character she is in 4 and beyond.

Anya: But I don't understand! I don't understand how this all happens. How we go through this. I mean I knew her and then she's , .. there's just a body and I don't understand why she just can't get back in it and not be dead anymore. It's stupid. It's mortal and stupid. And Xander's crying and not talking and I was having fruit punch and I thought well Joyce will never have anymore fruit punch ever, and she'll never have eggs or yawn or brush her hair, not ever and no one will explain to me why..

It seriously always makes me cry

Aww, now you have to tell us what she said! 😉

She said she had a very 'Anya moment' when a fan asked her what she was thinking during her speech in The Body. She blurted out she was thinking she had to pee because they wouldn't let them have a break 😛

Yes, I remember hearing her say that, lol! Still, it's an amazing scene :)
Maybe it's just me, but I always laugh in "Beneath You," when Anya feels bad that the puppy got hurt rather than the human. I can't lie. I sometimes cry in movies when dogs get hurt or killed more so than when it's the humans.

Anya is a great character. She's different and she, like Spike said, really is one of the only Scoobies who really just says what she thinks. Sometimes it's not a good thing but it's an amusing thing. She doesn't care and she'll just go through life not caring. And she really does love Xander and I love them as a couple. They are amazing. I also love her bunnie phobia, it's just something so totally different.

I freaking LOVED Anya! She is amazing. I wasn't to fond of her character when she first started the show but when the seasons progressed she was definitely one of my favorites. Anya and Willow were the best on the show. IMO.

I love Anya too.
She was an awesome badass, but an even better "human".
Watching her learn how to be human is just an utter joy. She's adorable, hilarious and hot.

Anya was hands down one of my favorite characters on BtVS. She was funny, interesting, brutally honest and I thought she brought a breath of fresh air to the scoobies.

She is one of my favorite characters as well, she's so f#cking funny!

My favorite scene with Anya is in Doppelgangland:

Anya: "For a thousand years I wielded the powers of the Wish. I brought ruin to the heads of unfaithful men. I brought forth destruction and chaos for the pleasure of the lower beings. I was feared and worshipped across the mortal globe. And now I'm stuck at Sunnydale High. Mortal. Child. And I'm flunking math."

There are so many amazing scenes with Anya, but this one especially because Doppelgangland was one the first few episodes I saw of Btvs and I was on still on the fence about it, and it was really just small things like that scene that made me want to keep watching it.

I never think of Anya's high school years. It's weird, but whenever I think of her, it's her working in the Magic Box or something like that.

I LOVE Anya, she's on of my top faves! I'm a lot like her too. I say things without thinking a LOT. But not to be rude or anything. Plus, I talk about sex a lot like she does. haha. I just can't help it. haha. But I LOVE Xanya. One of my favorite ships. They are so cute and funny. And Anya ALWAYS cracks me up!

Same here. I love Anya. Anya and Willow were hilarious to watch together but I did tend to side with Anya the most.
Watching her 'grow up' as a mortal was so endearing and amusing. I don't know about you guys, but to me, it was like watching a child grow up.

Yeah. I agree. Xander had to teach her things. It was rather adorable.
He would say something like: "Humans don't act like that."
Anya: "But why not? It makes no sense!"
Xander: "They just don't okay, sweetie?"

Pretty sure that's not an actual quote, just an example of their conversations. 😀

I love her because she's so different. As humans, we all pick up on social queues, things not to say, how to act, all that. She didn't get that, so she'd just say what she thought. But she wasn't as shallow as Cordelia was in the beginning of the show.

She was a very refreshing character.

I liked her from the very beginning. She is hilarious and so cute.. And the fact that she is an "outsider" (being brand-new in the human society) makes her even cuter because she doesn't know the limits and doesn't know what it appropriate to say (e.g. her sex life with Xander). And when Xander leaves her, I feel sorry for her because she really loved him.
