Trivia:

- Buffy's birthday was celebrated in the episode first aired on or near 19 January each year. In this episode, Malcolm brings up Buffy's school records on his computer. In the first view, we see that Buffy was born on 24 October 1980, and that she is a sophomore. The second time we see Buffy's records, her birthday is 6 May 1979, and she is a senior. (She is also shown with two different GPAs, one of them excellent.) Joss Whedon finally decreed Buffy's birthday to be 19 January 1981.

- Jenny Calendar was originally going to be named Nicki, but it was later changed in order to avoid on-set confusion with Nicholas (Nicky) Brendon.

- Series creator Joss Whedon provides the (uncredited) voice of the newscaster in this episode, his only on-air appearance in the seven year run of the show. He did make one on-screen appearance on this show's spin-off, "Angel".

Goofs:

- You see Malcolm scrolling through student profiles looking for Buffy, but if you play the scene in slow motion you see him scroll past the same student photos (including Buffy's) several time before finding her.

- In the opening scene, one of the monks says an Italian word incorrectly. He states "viene" when in fact the correct wording to use would have been "vieni".

- The title of the episode is a combination of two references: I, Robot is the title of a famous 1950 collection of short stories about robots by Isaac Asimov, and "Me Tarzan, you Jane," was a catchphrase made popular in the 1930's by the series of movies based on Edgar Rice Burroughs' Tarzan novels.

- "My spider sense is tingling." Marvel Comics' Spider-Man, in addition to his physical powers, has a "spider sense" that tingles when danger is looming. The phrase "My spider sense is tingling" has become an oft-repeated phrase in the Spider-Man comic books.

Notes:

- In the scene after the credits, as Buffy and Willow talk in front of Willow's locker, a photo of Willow and Giles can be seen stuck to the inside of her locker door.

- This is the first time we see the inside of Willow's house, and her bedroom.

This wasn't too bad an episode though I thought it a little strange. Willow is probably one of the most brainy kids at the school and she gets sucked in by a stranger on the net. It's easy to see why, a partial loner, not a boy magnet, finds classes and books fun and now she hangs around with a strange acting female called Buffy. But it still amazes me that she falls for it all especially seeing that most of the computer class is under the same spell (metaphorical not a real witchy type of spell!). And to add the craziness of the plot, the member of the gang who is considered the least brightest, Xander, actually works out that it could anyone on the end of Willow's emails.
 
I though it was a really fun episode. It was the first really developing one for Willow, I thought. I don't think it's that unusual that Xander figured it out, though. He knows Willow and I think he kind of sees things others don't... he certainly does in the later seasons.

I thought the best line was when Willow said she was seeing someone, but not really seeing someone and Buffy says, "A puzzle. Ok, I'm good at these. Does it involve a midget and a block of ice?"

Another one of my favorite lines. I actually use this one myself now!
I don't like this episode that much. I mean, this was the first time I had ever seen a TV show (at the time) show how dangerous Internet dating can be, so kudos for that, but overall I didn't like it. I felt so bad for Willow through the whole thing, though... She was so lonely she didn't see what everyone else was so concerned about and I can relate to that in a way...
 
Easily my least favourite episode of the series.

Albeit, I'm only starting Season 7, but I imagine this'll stick!

Yeah I also liked the masseage how dangerous Internet dating can be. But here is the intersting fact, my friends brother met his wife online 😀 now they are happily married and have baby on the way 😀
 
Parts of this episode are ok, it has some 'moments' but it's an episode I could easily skip over ..and in fact have done lol

Willow might have been intelligent and had more brains than most, but at this point in her life she certainly wasn't a people person, and you can often see her discomfort around others. It seems pretty acceptable to me that she would fall for someone over the internet, because she would have felt less pressure, and therefore could be herself. I think deep down she probably sensed all wasn't quite right, but she wouldn't be the first to choose to ignore those feelings.

What's that saying? When something seems too good to be true, it probably is. 😉
 
Huh, always remembered this episode as kind of fun - didn't get the impression it was trying to say internet dating was dangerous so much as, internet dating an ancient demon with a robot body is dangerous 🙂

The computer scenes were really crazy though, especially the student directory.

I liked the 'spell not solving the problem' scene. Well it solved a huge amount of chaos worldwide, but left our heroes trapped with the crazy demon lol
 
I don't really like this one. It's not that it's not funny or interesting. It's just not doing it for me.
 
I might be like the only one but I like this episode, it's like that movie Troll 2.
It's so bad that is it's good !
 
It's true that this episode leaves something to be desired. I would likely skip it if it weren't for the entrance of Jenny. This ep hosts a lotta good Jenny moments.
 
It's true...when I saw this episode the first time I never really thought that much of it, then...

This episode is now one of my absolute favorites...and Moloch watches with me when I watch it!😀

Originally it was going to be $2700 broken out over a few months.
Then I remembered that I had another prop from the same prop-house and the COA to go with it (they treat their COA's like receipt's) and I asked if they would be willing to do a one-to-one trade.
The other prop that I ended up trading is the Spike-Grenade used by Bruce Willis in The Fifth Element and I have a project where I'm having it replicated through a machinist in England that's almost complete and I'm getting five copies of it so...I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan of the Fifth Element and I really liked owning and displaying that prop, BUT, I absolutely adore Buffy so really, it was a no-brainer.
Anyway, the Propstore was good with the trade and a few day's later I had Moloch on my shelf!
Now the REAL question is whether or not I should think of it as a "prop" or as a piece of "costuming"? I guess it's a little of both😀

well, i took an picture of it....
i dont remember when this picture was made in the earlyer episodes....
any one know why willow has giles in her locker?

Aaah, you were the one with the picture :D
I alway's assumed the picture was there becuase Willow is Giles' number one fan. In the first few episodes she not only refer's to the new librarian as being "really neat" but also suggests to Buffy that they meet up in the Library for studying.
Add to that all of Willow's sort of over the top enthusiasm for "academia" in general and I would have to say I'm surprised that she only had ONE photo of Giles in her locker!
