I still don't get it. Why did Buffy being resurrected by Xander, Willow, Anya and Tara give The First the chance to try to wipe out the Slayer line? What makes the difference? Couldn't it have tried whenever it wanted?

It has never been explained in the series, everybody has his or her own theories to why.

If you want to read mine, you'll have to wait untill monday next week for part two of the virtualslayer finale, where I've sort of explained.

Wasn't it because the slayer line had been broken?

In Buffy Season 3, the First trys to get Angel to kill himself/or Buffy (i can't remember).

In Buffy Season 7 the First was able to come back because Buffy had been resurected the season before and the slayer line had been broken once again... one girl yadda yadda ya had now become 2 girls... again.

I think that was why... hmmm

It was never clearly stated by Beljoxa's Eye that it was Buffy's resurrection. That's what Anya and Giles concluded from the conversation.

It's all a big myster. It was never explained, so who knows?

Yeah, but I still don't understand what her coming back again had to do with anything. She really wasn't a factor. The Firsts goal was to wipe out all the watchers and potential slayers so that when faith died, there was no chance of a Slayer being called. So, what the was the point of Buffy being there if she doesn't have the power to find potentials (although she could through willow) and her power wouldn't be passed on to another Slayer because she passed it on to Kendra.

That bit always boggled me. In an episode Buffy says to the potentials to scare them that when she dies, if she dies, one of them will be called. That got me thinking - shouldn't Buffy have never gotten back her slayer powers because they were passed down to Kendra??

So many things with S7 were never answered, I think the writers really could not be bothered with S7.

Being a Slayer, dare I say it is kind of like having Aids...You dont have it at first until someone passes it on to you, but when you finally have it you cant get rid of it. Sure their are things that can keep it down for awhile or you can try to run from it but you cant get rid of it. You can pass it on to other people but it is still a part of you.

When Buffy became the slayer it was part of her, for ever. Its in her blood now and you cant get rid of it, when she died all she did was pass on the calling to Kendra and opened up her sleeping slayer abilities, Buffys abilites didnt get passed on, just her being able to call a slayer. So yes Buffy shouldve gotten her powers back after she died(which she has gotten them back) :: teeth :

Well for me the way that I always looked at it was like this: in Season3, The First had to be summoned in able to come out and torture people(like Angel), he/she wasnt strong enough to get back into this world by itself. But when Willow and co. did their spell to bring Buffy back, it briefly opened up a rift between worlds somewhat(it did pull Buffy out of a heavenly diminsion after all).

So the First saw this opening between worlds and jumped through into our world(Buffy world) and then since TheFirst is already on earth, all The First needed now was to become coporal to truly do damage, and when the Ubers over populated the people of earth TheFirst would become "real" in this world.

So what did wiping out the Slayers have to do with that plan? Was that only so that there would be no one to stop the Ubervamps and they would overrun the humans?

Probably, and since Sunnydale has the largest amount of Hellmouth energy, and the seal, The Urber Vamps only could get out that way. Buffy and co. would try to stop it, that and plus Slayers are the ones who help destory a large amount of The Firsts little babies(demons etc..) without Slayers the world would be unbalanced.

Erg...this always bothered me. And wasn't it because the balance was thrown off between good and evil that The First was able to attack?...so wasn't creating like thousands of annoying little slayers just throwing it off even worse? Aghhh...I'm so confused....

That is what I thought. If evil getting a bigger upper hand wouldn't the 100s of slayers throw it off, too? That is true.

I always thought the reason why the first was able to act now and wasn't before was b/c of Buffy's resurrection and it went against the forces of nature. That was just enough to crack open the door for the first to act. And from Giles and Anya's conversation w the big eye, I thought it was confirmed.

I always thought it had something to do with the balance between good and evil. Buffy was an incredible force of good but she had died and Faith was the next Slayer. And even though Faith wasn't exactly the poster girl for Slayers she was still a force of good. With Buffy being brought back a second time it unbalanced good even more than it had before because this time Buffy came back slightly different. I know it was never cleared about what actually that meant but maybe she was brought back stronger. And that gave the First the oppurtunity to even the odds but instead of evening the odds it decided to wipe out a significant force of good.

That's what I thought anyway.

i from what you just said maybe its because buffy was like a demon, at least technically because spike could hit her so maybe that made her a froce of good but that was technically bad which tipped the scales for evil, made more evil in hge world, you might not get what i mean but i do
