I know you might not have meant it but Rude Much? Its fine to respect people but to go out of your way to list whose opinion you respect and then to basically tell everyone else to shove it isnt that great.
I love it - 'might'.
I have been posting how long here?
I meant it as it stands, there are some peoples opinions on this board I highly value and others that I couldn't care less about. The people I singled out, well they have earned respect other people really haven't. As I said, not everyone who has an opinion I do respect was mentioned and no one who I don't respect was either.
I'm not someone who will waste time and money on something based on comments from people I don't respect so I gloss over the posts.
Anyone has issue with that, well your big boo-haha.
Besides, I knew it was a cheeky way to get N4H to post in the thread
😛
If you like Joss or not should not play a big part of this, you like Buffy and he did design it, so in some regard to have that Buffy love you have to like- at least in part- enjoyed, Joss writing....Specifically Buffy.
I might not like the change either, but does that mean the product must stink? Does that mean that personalities can't change back? In the end does it make it not Buffy the Vampire Slayer for you?
Point 1)
I don't like Joss. I do love Buffy and Angel but I can't say anything else I have read/seen of his I have liked. Could that be then that its the people that have surrounded him and not necessarily him? Probably.
I find him a little whiney and such.
For instance in X-Men. He wrote a 'joke' that Halle Berry had to deliever, the one about Toads in lightning.
That was just not funny but at a Convention rather than admit it just wasn't that good, he blamed Berry. Now to me that smacks of someone rather childish.
On top of that, I have always had the impression, rightly or wrongly, that he didn't care as much about Buffy as everyone likes to think. Its OK for people to move on and want new things but he just seemed to drop it the moment he started getting what he wanted. The thing is, what he wanted started to fail because the fans didn't go with him, which I am sure he thought they would. His ego seemed to suggest that he thought the fans were his fans and not fans of the show.
Point 2)
I might not like the change either, but does that mean the product must stink?
Well no it doesn't mean 'must' however it might. If you have 7 years of one thing and then that is totally bummed up the ass and gone a totally different way, you might not like it - hence the reason for asking the opinions of those you respect.
Does that mean that personalities can't change back?
Again no, but after 18 'episodes' you should have some reason as to what has happened. As I have stated I have seen bits HOWEVER I am willing to put on hold my prejudice based on what comments I have seen while asking for the opinions of other.
In the end does it make it not Buffy the Vampire Slayer for you?
Well IF the character changes are forced without real answers as to why, then its not Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
Granted if people who knew me 2 years ago met me now they would see a different person however, they would say 'wow, you've changed' which would then lead to me telling them what has happened in that time.
We are the product of our own history.
I was going to avoid this thread, because there seemed to an implicit, then explicit dis against members who's opinion you claim you don't value. Kind of childish to make a point of preaching that, if you ask me.
But what the heck, I can't stay mad at you Edmund (now), so I'll offer my advice, for what it's worth.
Based on what I glean to be where your interests lie from previous threads, I'd recommend you check out
This One.
It's what they call a TPB (trade paperback). It's a collection of five issues from the second story arc in the series. It's Faith-centric, but Buffy and the other characters make appearances. It includes a stand-alone which has some additions to the Buffy mythology, and some fascinating background stuff if you want to search for it.
I'd also recommend you get that stand-alone (Anywhere but Here) as a separate issue. What you want there is the letters page. I think you'll get a kick out of the letter pages. Apparently they aren't in the TPBs.
That's a reasonable investment of cash for an investigation I think - 20 bucks, or so American. It will give you a pretty good idea of whether or not you want to go for the rest of the series, and if so how you want to purchase them.
