Question If it came down to it, would Angel ever be able to kill Buffy?

I think that it would seem that Angel would to save the world, although when Fred was being hollowed out by Illyria and the only way to save her was to allow tens of thousands of people to die by drawing her essence back to the well, Angel nearly allows this in order to save Fred. While it is clear Angel has strong feelings for Fred, it is fair to say that they do not compare to the strength of his feelings for Buffy.

I think he wouldn't have in the end, though. Sacrifice thousands of people for Fred, that is. And it's not the entire world, per se, just a long slashing line of casualties, with the added bonus of resealing a very dangerous Old One back in its box.

Interestingly enough, not to continue the redundant Spike comparisons, but it's Spike who stays put in that scene.

I don't he would have either but he at least more than strongly considered it with Fred and as such if it were buffy he needed to sacrifice to save lives I don't think he could allow her to die.
