If you were Dawn...

Well I hate Dawn and still wish she had jumped in The Gift and not Buffy. So I wasn't at all shocked when she kicked Buffy out because that's the kind of person Dawn is--evil. I am , however, very disappointed in Buffy's other friends who should have stood by her.

I SO agree with you. Well said, well phrased.

I wouldn't have.... I mean Buffy is her sister and your supposed to take up for family. That was majorly wrong. I like Dawn but when she didn't stick up for Buffy i coulda beat the heck out of her if she was real lol

If I was Dawn, I wouldn't have kicked Buffy out of the house because like I said in another thread, Buffy gave her life for her. I also got pissed when Buffy got kicked out. If I was Buffy, I would have given Dawn a beating for kicking me out and then climbed up to Glory's tower and pushed her off.

I would not have kicked Buffy out of the household. Do you actually expect Faith to be able to lead you and save you? Yeah...right. I don't think Faith is capable of doing that and it shows.

Buffy is a strong person and it even turns out she was right...there was something there and it led to them winning the battle against the first so it turns out that Dawn was the stupid one.

I wouldn't have kicked her out. I was angry at everybody that did. I mean, Buffy was the strongest there. She had risked her life time after time, yet she still made it though half a dozen apocolypses. And this was the thanks she got? Getting kicked out of her own house in the middle of the worst possible time? That was just selfish

Well I actually like Dawn as a character, so perhaps my opinion will not be listened to by some, but I think Dawn had every right to do what she did. She did it for the good of the potentials, for the good of herself and especially for the good of Buffy. The house would have been chaos if Buffy stayed, disagreeing with every order. Nothing else could have happened, really.
The entire event is necessary for ALL of the characters - for Faith to grow as a slayer and leader, for the potentials, for Buffy to realise a) she does love/whatever Spike and b) she can take on Caleb.

And it was Dawn's house too. She had to make the decision. The entire season was based around Buffy making the hard choices and decisions, always ending up with her self-righteousness (not that you can blame her, but still...). It needed to be someone else to make that particular hard choice.

That's what I reckon, anyway.

I think it was right to kick buffy out of the house, she was being a major bitch in that episode, she needed a reality check, and fast. Also, sometimes you gotta try the wrong solutions before you find the right one. Also, because buffy got kicked out, she realised that she didn't need the potentials help to get the scythe, she could get it on her own, so by going alone she was probably saving quite a few lives.:dj:

if i was dawn i couldn't kicked out my own sister. even if she was wrong. buffy is the slayer and she knew what she was doing... for me the only person who could have kicked out buffy is faith. she is a natural leader.

How is Faith a Natural leader?
Just because she is the Slayer doesn't make that fact, lestwe forget the Slayer generally works alone.

And if we go by what we have seen of her, she still has alot to learn.

I would have so kicked her out! Dawn had every right to do what she did, and it's not like she was acting on her own, the others all wanted Buffy to step down (and I don't mean the potentials). Buffy was so out of control, The fact that she was right doesn't matter for anything, it was the way in which she was going about it that was the problem. She was being reckless and getting people killed

Ok Buffy was insensitive and didn't listen but they had no right to kick her out.

Why do you think they had no right? Their lives were being put on the line, they didn't have super strength or heightened abilities yet they were being lead by someone who did and expected them to fight in the same battles as her. But the fact that they were putting their lives on the line gives them every right!

Is there anyone who was in their position who wouldn't question the leader? where the person who was leading you was expecting to send you in somewhere, where your friends had just been killed, where your friends had just been totally beaten and crushed and someone has a hunch to go back in there. I don't think I would be behind her 100%

OK i get what you said 100% but i would not of kicked her out because she would be at risk outside on her own that the first would take advantage of the situation i'd of got her to stand down as leader but not kick her out.

you know i didn't think Dawn was allowed to do that. She wasn't nearly old enough to tell her older sister and caretaker she was kicked out of the house. i got mad too. it was dumb and there was really no point in it.

Well I agree that it wasn't a great thing to do but there was a point in it, it's not like she did it for no reason. Might not have been the right solution, but I understand what she did. This wasn't a "is this the right thing to do"-thing, it wasn't fair, but this was about saving the slayer line/lives/world etc., having different opinions on how to do that is not like having different opinions on how to redecorate or what to have for dinner...

I would not have!
I mean, I was so shocked when Willow and Xander agreed!
God, it is Buffy's house. I really felt sorry for her, 7 years she had saved the world. And then suddenly, all these potentials (Kennedy especially!) come and kick her out of her house. And Willow and Xander, best friends for 7 years.....
I couldn't believe it! 😛.

Woah, remember that it was Dawn that told Buffy to leave....the rest just wanted her to step down as leader.

I don't think Dawn was in the wrong. Buffy made it pretty clear she couldn't stand by and watch the group make the wrong decisions, so when she said that, Dawn gave her the 'I think you should go' line.

Buffy had lost perspective, she had lost the fight.
Did Dawn know that by sending her away she'd come back the woman she was, no, BUT she knew that Buffy had lost the respect of her 'army' and she knew that Buffy couldn't get it back as they were and that Buffy couldn't just sit and watch.

I have big issues with this argument in general, but Dawn, to me is the one in the right.

The whole driving-Buffy-away-thing is actually (in my opinion) the worst misstake the writers did through the entire show. I never got when I first saw it, and I never will. It happened to fast. If they now HAD to build the plot up to that point, they would've had to spend more time in building it up. I remember well my confusion during that episode - I thought everyone was under a spell or something.

That whole thing kinda stunk of Whedon's Buffy-humping. Break her down even further so it makes her look all the better when she comes back, saves the day, then goes on to defeat the Big Bad.

Honestly, it would have worked better in reverse. Have Faith try to take over because she sees it as her big chance at redemption, then she gets someone/some of them killed and gets the boot. Have her recover the scythe and come back, then have Buffy and Willow come up with the big plan.

Name aside, the earlier episodes were much better rounded as far as characters went, but it truly became Buffy's show near the end and the others all seemed like props to tell her story as opposed to it being a story about all of them.

Its a Good Job that Joss Whedon is the one writing that story then, left up to you Boba Fett would have come in and saved the day!!!

I definately couldn't. Buffy just made everything easier. After Buffy left everything went wrong. So if I were Dawn I wouldn't of. The first time I watched that episode I was so mad at them. I was like "What is wrong with you people?" But now that I have got over it I am fine with it because she comes back.

Theres not much left to say. BEG pretty much said everything I would say.

And Joe, having Faith try to take over would totally go against her character.

Faith's biggest problem was always that everyone thought Buffy was better than her. Buffy was the good one, she was the bad one.

After killing a lot of people and going to jail, she learned from her mistakes. She managed to accept that she would never be Buffy (thats not saying Buffy's better than Faith by the way).

So to try to take the power away from Buffy would be reverting to how she was before. Trying to take evertything away from Buffy. She wasnt that person in season 7. She didnt want to be leader. That was the point. She grew up. Learned from her mistakes. It would be wrong for her to all of a sudden act how she used to be.
