Honestly, it would have worked better in reverse. Have Faith try to take over because she sees it as her big chance at redemption, then she gets someone/some of them killed and gets the boot. Have her recover the scythe and come back, then have Buffy and Willow come up with the big plan.

Name aside, the earlier episodes were much better rounded as far as characters went, but it truly became Buffy's show near the end and the others all seemed like props to tell her story as opposed to it being a story about all of them.

Uhm, it was Buffy's show. The story was about her, the other characters were all expendable.

Faith's biggest problem was always that everyone thought Buffy was better than her. Buffy was the good one, she was the bad one.

Her problem was that she thought Buffy was better than her. Faith has low self-esteem.

LOL-Am I the only one who sees this Dawn's way? Buffy was completely unwilling to see things in any other way but her own. These people were risking their lives for her and she was taking a full authoritarian attitude. Buffy was careless the entire season especially with these girls lives. She appeared to be leading them off to their doom. I don't blame them for standing up against it. I think Buffy needed to see their point of view, or find her own army....apparently, that's just me...

Quoted for truth. I'm surprised to find so many people taking Buffy's side, when it seems pretty clear to me she was bang out of order and losing it big time.

And I'm sorry, but I'm vaguely irritated that so many people seem to dislike Dawn. In the last few years, I know who I was finding more and more irritating, and it wasn't Dawny!

The only real good thing to come out of this episode (well, other than the interaction with Buffy and Spike) was that it finally allowed Faith to come completely out from under Buffy's shadow. She'd begun to make progress in the Angle episodes when she came in and immediately took charge, but the events in Sunnydale, her taking charge of the Potentials, and I really believe that she didn't want to usurp Buffy's power there, but really had only that choice or to let the whole group go to hell in a hand basket, were the thing that finally made her feel like the Chosen One and not just one of the Chosen Two. Also, it finally gave her the courage to express her admiration, envy, and former jealousy of Buffy, and to sympathize with her for the tremendous load she'd had to carry for seven long years. I believe that they would become better friends after that and after the ending of the show.
