What do you think about slayers?Aren't they cool? Here's the thread where we discuss all things slayer.Who is your fav slayer from the show? And who is ur fav slayer from the buffy books, nd comics?
nerd4hire said:I have a question about the Slayers from the novels. Can you really take them seriously? Joss has nothing to do with them, so they're not really Whedonverse slayers. Might as well include fanfic slayers, don't you think?
Nicole said:So does that mean that the slayers in the book of fours had nothing to do with joss?
Whedon doesn't generally have input on most of the merchandising. "There is so much product, you have to give up control. I don't read the books. Not because I don't want to, I just don't have the time. In the very beginning we set down some guidelines [for the books and comics]. Things like 'no cheesecake.' That was about the extent of it.
nerd4hire said:I'm going to rate my favourite slayers in order, just for fun.
1. Fray
2. Buffy
3. Vi
4. Faith
5. Kendra
6. Chao Ann
7. Caridad (She lived to be a slayer, right?)
Kennedy didn't make my list.
XxSlayerxX said:Well actually, Caridad did die. They just didn't show it on tv.I counted, observed and relooked over the last episode.and my count is 8 slayers survived, including Shannon, and Injured Girl.
AMANDA
Hey! Hey! Faith? Anybody?
(panic)
Is anybody here?
She comes upon CARIDAD, also looking banged up, but breathing.
nerd4hire said:Weren't there a bunch of girls injured in End of Days. The girl who played Caridad was in End of Days, but not in Chosen. How do we know Caridad died? She could have been among the injured, and Buffy could have sent them out of town for all we know.
Caridad seemed all right when they get back to Summers Central Command, but there is this from earlier:
I'm really bad at telling who exactly is who among the SITs. The injured girl who Anya is tending to in End of Days - is that Caridad? I don't think so, but I can't tell for sure.
The Oriental girl flying through the air in the final battle of Chosen - is that Chao Anne. The oriental girl who gets bit by the Ubie in the final battle - is that Chao Anne? Is Chao Anne the injured girl Vi is tending to on the school bus?
I just thought of something else. Buffy gives the SITs the choice of coming to the school or not. Even if Caridad wasn't injured she may have booted it out of town. All we know for sure about Caridad is she didn't appear to be in the final battle. She'd still be a slayer wherever she was, wouldn't she?
XxSlayerxX said:If you do not agree with me, start researching the internet, and you will.If not, ask people who know.
She just asked if anyone wanted to fight with her, and half of the potentials came, including Caridad
The survivors include: Buffy, Willow, Xander, Dawn, Giles, Andrew, Kennedy, Faith, Robin, Rona, Chao-Ahn and Vi.
Those who died include: Anya, Amanda and Spike
nerd4hire said:No problem. I'll ask you OK? 🙂
First of all as far as researching the internet goes, I'm finding there's a lot of conflicting information. I think the problem is some of the info comes from the books. My opinion of the books are they're commercialized fanfic. Can you convince me I'm wrong.
One I've always wondered about is the idea Caridad is Phillippino. Where does that one come from?
Can you offer me some links to some of this information you have? I'd really like to read the one by the ubervamp actor.
BTW where does this nugget come from:
Also can you give me a link to the site that shows who had stunt doubles?
Can you point out Shannon to me in Chosen. I can't find her. I'm curious why the actress who plays Shannon has a credit from Chosen at IMDB.com, yet the actress who plays Caridad doesn't.
Oh, and I almost forgot, here's the most important one. Where does it say Caridad died? Is that just from counting slayers, because I'm not sure that's 100% reliable as proof.
XxSlayerxX said:i had a thread about this, and someone answer it to me.i believe the thread is in the whedonverse.
2.If you search "Dania Ramirez, in sites such as tvtome, it will say that she is born in the philipines.many fans argued about this, whether she was filipino or some european culture.the answer is, what does she look like.she is filipino, and that is not a fake accent.that is a filipino accent.
Dania Ramirez, the actress that plays Caridad, is from the Philippines, and her accent is genuine. It is likely that Caridad is from the Philippines as well.
3.I'm not sure if the ubervamp one, still exists, but...
4.It is not a nugget, whatever that is.It is what happened in the show.Buffy, told the potentials her plan, she asked them what if you could have the power...bla bla bla.and then she's like are you ready to bes strong. Not all the slayers came, some stayed, because they didn't want to go.At the end of the episode, Giles is like:there many more slayers in sunnydale, so there's not use looking there.search in goolge, in fansites, and they will tell you, if you don't agree with me on this.
5.There was no site on the stunt doubles.Remember i told you about the on set report, from the uber vamp actor?he said that all the potentials, buffy, nd faith, had stunt doubles.only kennedy, nd shannon didn't.unfortunatley, you couldnt see shannon fighting.you could only see a blurr of girls fighting.good thing those two slayers survived at the end.don't you agree with me?
7.I have taped the last episode, looked over, paused on the surviving slayers.=and i see that caridad didn't survive.look in tvtome, in the buffy page, and they show that caridad died.
.
The Survivors: Buffy, Willow, Xander, Dawn, Giles, Andrew, Kennedy, Faith, Robin, Rona, Chao-Ahn, Vi.
The Fallen: Anya, Amanda, Spike.

Dania Ramirez was born in the Phillipines. It doesn't follow from this that Caridad was Phillipino. James Marsters is not English. Spike and William are. What's her name who plays Kendra is not from the Caribean. See where I'm going?
I think you're correct in mentioning TVTome as the source for the rumour Caridad is Phillipino though. Here's what they say:
That's TVTome's opinion, but it is only that - an opinion.
I vaguely remember seeing a link to that story. I think you may be on to something when you mention Whedonesque. I think I may have seen it there. I didn't bother to read the story. I didn't know he was going to tell us good stuff like where exactly Chao-Ahn was in Chosen. I'll look for the link to that story when I get time.
Yes, I also saw Chosen. I remember the scene. I don't remember them saying some girls refused. I specifically don't remember anyone saying 1/2 the girls refused as I believe you stated earlier. I agree though: It's entirely possible some girls did refuse. Still If there's any evidence to verify that as fact, I'd like to know about it.
Also I know you didn't mean to say Giles said there were more slayers in Sunnydale. There was no Sunnydale at that point. You meant other girls out there - in the world, right? Just trying to keep things accurate.
I'll explain why that was interesting to me. I got the impression from what you said earlier that Dania Ramirez had been assigned a stunt double. If that was a fact it would mean Joss had intended Caridad to appear in Chosen. I see now that isn't what you meant. So I can stand by the information that appears in IMDB.com. and also TVTome (although I'm not sure it matters). Caridad was not in Chosen.
Actually it isn't that Caridad didn't survive. It's that Caridad wasn't in Chosen. Where was she? Who knows.
As far as TVTome goes if everything they said was true Spike would be a male slayer, and we'd be watching Ripper right now.
Here's what they say in the episode guide though:
Actually I agree with TVTome here. That's the way I saw it too, although I'm prepared to admit Shannon may also have survived. Shannon was in Chosen. If you say you saw her get off the bus I believe you (although I will of course double-check, because I want to be sure in my own mind).
