Is Faith bisexual

Hmm well sleeping with a male years ago harldy makes her bi. I will be sure to tell those people : king :

OK, see now I am not discussing Faith but the nature of bisexuality.

I have a friend, he is in a loving relationship with his wife. Been married for 6 years been faithful to her in their relationship for 8.

Before her he had a boyfriend for 1 year and before that spent 3 years sleeping with both men and women.

Sleeping with a male years ago makes him bisexual because that is what he is and what he chooses to 'label' himself.

You seem to be lacking the concept of what bisexual is and how that could be different from what one would label ones self.

Willow is a gay woman.
Why is that? Is it because she has only ever had sex with women?
No, we know that she had sex with Oz.
OK, is it because she has only enjoyed sex with women?
Well again, though I have never seen her say that sex with Oz was awesome, I got the impression she didn't mind it.
OK the, is it because Oz was an abberation in her attraction?
Hmm again no, I haven't read the comics so I can only go by the show BUT we have evidence that she found Oz attractive, Xander attractive and she even confesses to finding Giles attractive.

On the otherside of that coin we have her relationships with Tara and Kennedy.

So wait does that sound like someone who is gay(or straight)?
No, IF I had to force a label on her it would be bisexual because she fits the description HOWEVER, I believe she is a gay woman and my reason is - she has chosen that label for herself.

On pure technical terms Willow ticks all the bisexual boxes but she is a gay woman because she refers to herself as that.

I don't think Faith, as a whole, is bisexual. I just think she was attracted to everything Buffy had and was at the time she met her. But being attracted to women in general? No.

It's always fun to speculate, though! I always look at those scenes and wonder what it would have been like for both characters if Buffy and Faith had ever hooked it up. 😉

We don't know that Willow was physically attracted to them.

I myself am not attracted to Oz, but I like his personality and would date him.

Maybe she just wanted someone to like her, since she had never seemed to have had a proper bf.

Now with Giles that could just be the older man thing.

My friend actually suprised me when he said he was not attracted to the people that he finds to be sexy. He thinks Uma Thurman is gorgeous and would love to go out with her, but he is not attracted to her. It makes no sense to me, but it happens.

There are gay people all over who have dated members of the oppoiste sex, but are no longer attracted to them.

I thought that the definition of bisexuality was being attracted to both members of sex. If you are no longer attracted to one member, how are you bisexual?

Hello brick wall, would you kindly meet my head!

To be bisexual SIMPLY BY DEFINITION you must be sexually active with both sexes.

As I have stressed NUMEROUS TIMES but I don't think you seem to be grasping that there is a difference between what you would/could technically be classed as and what you are based on your own choice.

I'm simply going to end this now by calling you a moron.

I'm probably going to get a few messages from MODS saying I can't say that, het this post deleted but I don't care.
Sometimes someone who shows nothing but complete and utter stupidity needs it said to them.

Welcome to the Buffy-Boards DoctorWhovian, I hope in your time here you learn something.

Goodnight.

Hello brick wall, would you kindly meet my head!

It's not my fault that you can't grasp the fact that being attracted to men a long time ago doesn't make Willow bisexual.

Is she attracted to men now? No. What is a bisexual? Someone who is attracted to both sexes.

Bullshit. I am bisexual and I have never been with a girl.

Maybe you should read up on bisexuality.

Maybe you should read up on bisexuality.

WTF?

You're bisexual because you choose to label yourself that even though you have never been with a girl right?

OK, now suppose someone had to technically define you, label you based purely on knowing what sex history you have.

What would they call you?

Heterosexual.

Now, bisexual, sweety - and take this from someone who has a) been bisexually active for near on 12 years b) someone who works with an LGBT group in London C) someone who was a counsellor for LGBT groups around the UK - to define someone as bisexual they MUST tick one of three boxes.

1) Class themselves as bisexual - pretty straight forward.
2) Actively seek out both sexes - pretty straight forward.
3) Have had sexual intercourse with both sexes. Preferences NOT withstanding, to have sex with both TECHNICALLY classes you as bisexual.

You can be all 3, you can be only one BUT you must tick one of the boxes AND Willow, my dear, happens to HENCE the reason she could be TECHNICALLY classed as bisexual by someone who only knew the facts about her BUT the fact she classes herself as Gay supercedes that and is what she is.

Jesus Wept!

Right and what do they call you when you're a virgin? Asexual?

bisexual
Adjective
1. sexually attracted to both men and women

Is Willow attracted to males? No she is not.

We think of it differently. There is no need for you to insult me.

She may be TECHNICALLY bisexual by someone's stupid defination, but she is not.

Right and what do they call you when you're a virgin? Asexual?

Well that would depend on numerous factors.

If you werea 40 year old virgin, then it is quite feasible that people would give you that label BUT then again if you label yourself as straight, then that is what you are.

bisexual
3. is now or has been known to have sexual relations with both sexes.

Has Willow been sexually active with both sexes? Yes she has.

We do think differently, you've a limited understanding of something and think that you can then argue on a topic that you clearly have little understanding of.

I find plenty of 'need' in insulting you, especially when you know little then TRY to pull out what they believe to be your 'trump card' to try and win an argument.

She may be TECHNICALLY bisexual by someone's stupid defination, but she is not.

Which is what I have been saying EXCEPT that definition is far from stupid.
That last comment sheds doubt on your 'claim' at being bisexual. How dare you class one of the definitions of being bisexual, one that is used by many to help understand a part of their lives, as stupid.

I have a limited understanding of bisexuality because I define it slightly differently to you?

Me pull out my 'trump card'? I was NEVER going to mention it. Do you think that I like using my sexuality to get somewhere? No I do not. If anything I am the opposite.

Just when I think I'm out, they pull me back in...:drunk:

Keep it civil, or I'll close it guys. I've got better things to do than edit posts all night.

And a reply to this warning is off-topic. Keep it on topic.

Can't we just stop arguing?

I am fed up of arguing sexuality with people, whether it's on here or somewhere else.

We disagree. Let's just end it.

If you don't wish to argue something don't, but don't think you know everything about something either when you clearly have alot to learn!

Well if you only know one definition of something, as opposed to them all, then yes it is limited.

Well if you were NEVER going to then why did you?

Ohh, because you couldn't think of any other way to 'win' the discussion.

Do I think you like using it?
Well based entirely on what I know of you, I would have to say probably.

BUT you see, this is the problem when we who do not know someone assigns what we believe to others.

Thats why technically I can say it thing BUT its what the person who is the one making the statement, claim, about themselves that is the truth - which brings it nicely back around to Faith (thats just for you N4H).

Done. This has wandered off-topic.

If somebody wants to discuss the topic of whether, or not Faith is bisexual, they can open another thread.

Bored of the Dead agrees: Woah, I brought it back around to the actual topic. My last bit was arguing the difference between assigning a label to someone and what they believe themselves - which is part of the Faith debate!!!!

The thread was closed after I read the comment previous to yours, and following a stay on topic warning. We were posting at the same time.

No problem though. If anyone thinks the question of whether or not Faith is bisexual requires more discussion, they can open another thread.

This one however is closed.
