One thing no body has brought up... we have no idea whether Faith is alive or dead. If I'm right, she COULD be dead (Just suggesting, not saying its definate), and could of had her power sucked up by big-bad shapeshifter, and it could just shift into her form later on. Dunno. Slayer in Waiting, or the Slayer called after Buffy's second death (I don't care how many people tell me it can't happen, no body knows, Joss can do whatever he wants.) are the best two options.

Wow. Very interesting speculations.

I was thinking about Buffy the other day and wondering about those girls. The fact that they are on the show shows they are related to the story line. But in what way?

Well i came to the follwoing tenous conclusions:

1: It could be a sacrifice to awaken something, but that didn't seem right because they were killed on the spot. Sacrifices are usually made somewhere sacred.

2: All of the girls were.. well.. young girls.

3: All of the girls seemed VERY athletic. One climbed up to a rooftop very quickly and the other actually struck and fended off numerous male attackers. I mean, female kickboxing champions might have done better, but it was definately on the impressive side.

4: Buffy dreamed about at least one. This implies that the girl was directly relevant to her. I mean she doesn't dream about every Vamp that she meets, just figures like the Gentlemen, and the Master etc. Serious threats.

So i clued to the idea of them possibly being 'Slayers-in-waiting' (who don't yet have the Slayer supernatural abilities). This seemed a revelation to me. It all makes sense. Since the bronze no longer exists i went looking for a forum in a hurry to get some opinions. Imagine my surprise at finding alot of other people had the same idea first.

So here is some more specualtion:

A: Faith (who is in jail at last count) should be having the same kind of dreams if the 'Slayers-in-waiting' theories are true. We might be seeing Faith back for at least a cameo mentioning just that.
B: Faith is gonna die probably. 🙁 At least that will be the master plan. Either that, or the dark power behind it all will corrupt her and use her while using the 'no-more-slayers-in-waiting' excuse to keep buffy from killing her. Personally, im betting that a re-habilitated Faith dies heroicly in some redeaming (but prophecied) fasion.

C: A farther out speculation: I have a little intuition bump that tells me DAWN is a potential slayer, and these monks will come after her. I just get a feeling that that is potentially how the storyline is driven home. This leads to some more radical speculation about the season ending, but it's so far out i don't want to go there.

Wow, you guys are great. Any ideas?

I agree with the slayer-in-waiting idea. I think the black baddies are working for the big bad/shapeshifter thing and taking out all known training slayers - as in known to the council not to us the viewer. a few posts back someone suggested that there is a traitor in the council - that makes sense as well - perhaps someone buffy p*ssed off a few seasons back when she declared herself "fired" from the watchful eye of the council.

My only problem with this is the thing about dawn being the next slayer. she cannot be a "chosen one" as she is not truly human. however, if buffy if training her to "take over the family business" then it would make sense that dawn would eventually be more powerful than buffy - the big bad would realize this and would want to take out all slayers - present AND future.

Anyway this is just my opinion. anyone can disagree with me but we just have to wacth and see. 😛

Buffy isn't really training Dawn to take over though.. she just wants her to be able to defend herself like Xander and Willow can (Well... Willow can definetly defend herself now..) Thats what it seems like to me, anyway.

Like I said before I think that someone on the Watcher's Council turned evil, and is eliminating the girls one by one. Hopefully, it's Travers, and Buffy has to kick his ****!!

My guess. They are slayers! and are already trained before another slayer dies. Besides we never got the see the girls die. So I'm guessing the monks were watchers from the Council and they were only training with these girl (pretty innocent huh?). But remember the first episodes some dude closes the door, when the Slayer-in-Training passes by. That guy is Spike, so it's probably not chronologic!
