It disgusts me when people compare

Basically a matter of opinion.

I have a passionate dislike of Twilight (but that's mainly because of the books themselves, and how everyone thinks Meyer is a Literature God), but I've seen the films; they are kinda interesting. Kristin Stewert's not all that tragic, I kinda like her. It's the vampire thing, it's appealing. And True Blood is a fantastic show. So is the Vampire Diaries (this show is hardly Twilight, but the book versions were kinda shit too).

But that's the way the tales of vampires have always been. Fire, sunlight, decapitation, and a stake through the heart have always been there way of dying. They burn in sunlight because they are dead. They are creatures of the night, not creatures from a glitter parade.
That doesn't automatically make it better or superior. If anything it makes it less than TWILIGHT because there's no real sense of originality in the vampire concept, just the same regurgitated concept that's always been around. While TWILIGHT dares to go against that, creating a NEW and intriguing concept of vampires. There's nothing wrong with original concepts and new ideas, which is basically what you're claiming your hate for this is based on, that it dares to present a new idea. You don't have to like that vampires sparkle, hell go full force and despise it with all the hate in your heart if that's what you want (as you seem to have quite a lot).

But to refer to it as absurd in comparison to BUFFY (a very absurd show by its very nature), is, that in of itself, not only absurd, but closed minded, clearly biased and prejudice.

You could also argue that it's close-minded, clearly biased and prejudiced to not be able to find Twilight more absurd than Buffy.

They're equally absurd. That's the point I was making. They are, after all, both shows about vampires. There is no more or less absurdity here, just different. And to say differently, like TWILIGHT is more absurd than BUFFY, or BUFFY is more absurd than TWILIGHT, is just ridiculous and, honestly, makes me question someones sanity, to think that one is somehow more buyable than the other. THEY ARE BOTH ABOUT VAMPIRES.

I think this got a bit personal, calling people who disagree with you insane.

I actually find the buffy vampires easier to "buy", for different reasons, mainly because i simply think the buffy vampires are better written as characters, but people who have a easier time enjoying or buying the twilight vampires aren't "wrong" in my eyes.

You could say they're equally absurbed, because they're vampires, but fact is, their natures and bodies are different, as if they're different species entirely. So looking at the vampires, or shows, differently isn't weird, or insane. So to me, they're both absurbed, but in different ways, and to different degrees. Nothing wrong with you thinking they're equally absurbed though.

Different strokes.

Good point about the Buffy vamps being easier to "buy" because of how they are written as characters.

Vampires are mystical, and dark always have been. I think the Twilight vampires are absurd because Stephanie Meyer "prettys" them up, making them less of what they were meant to be, demons. Even though Buffy dated vampires, BTVS never let us forget what they are.

I think that Twilight is more a love story first that has vampires in it secondly. That's just the way it's written. It's not written as a vampire horror story or as a cult following, it's just Twilight. Buffy and Twilight, to me, aren't even in the same league as they are about two completely different aspects of Vampires.

Very well said, Enemies.

I think a few people need to take a step back and stop attacking other people's POV just because they don't agree with them... If you (the collective you) don't like it, you don't have to continually bash it, and that applies to anything and everything. State your opinion and move on, and don't get all butthurt if someone doesn't share your opinion on something.
This is a warning; if the thread gets out of hand again, we will close it down.

Adding to what HisMrs said - when moderators post warnings in the thread, such as in this one where it was said to stop attacking people for their views (and that goes for both pro and anti Twilight POV's) that means STOP DOING IT. It doesn't mean get one last comment in first. I'm really tired of seeing moderator's warnings go ignored. We should be able to have a thread about Twilight without fights breaking out.

I've never seen those shows, so I can't hate. The first Twilight movie is all I saw and honestly it was like watching paint dry.

I find it best to just ignore the vamp shows if you're not into them, but trash talking is not taken lightly to dedicated fans (as one yourself, you would know).

I agree with you about the moderators posts, but I disagree that there will ever be a Twilight thread without any tension. The fact of the matter is that people often tend to take things the wrong way, and can interpret someone saying negative things about the books/movies as personal attacks. This has happened in more than one thread recently. I think the same thing would happen if someone on a Twilight forum made claims about Buffy being garbage to a fan. Its great to see such devoted fans, but Twilight and Buffy is just one of those things where there will always be disagreements.
Not to say there can't be civil disagreements, but people tend to get hot-headed when defending what they love.

I think we should just stop making Twilight threads, because every single one of them has ended up the same way.

I respectfully disagree. Why shouldn't Twilight fans have a thread for their favourite movie/books? There's a simple way to keep things from getting heated: don't go in the thread(s) if you are anti-Twilight.

It's like BtVS couples. I hate Spuffy, I have neither apologized nor hidden it from people. There's a lot of threads about Spuffy on this board, especially in the Spuffy fanclub. But I don't go into any of the threads and cause destruction. Why bother? I'm not a Spuffy fan. Why would I go into a thread where people are talking about their favorite couple of which I'm not a fan?

Same goes for Twilight. If you aren't a fan, and if you have an intense hatred for it, don't go in the thread. Let the Twi-Hards discuss their movies and/or books freely.

Perhaps I'm misunderstanding what you mean; I'm not a fan of Twilight so I don't know what happens in those threads. 🙁 I apologize if that's the case.

I'm not saying Twilight fans shouldn't be able to discuss the love of it or whatever, but threads like this one for example.

It seems like this thread was created only to bash other vampire shows, twilight just stuck out more than the others.

There's a simple way to keep things from getting heated: don't go in the thread(s) if you are anti-Twilight.

Well, there's two problems with that:

1. This thread was made for people who are anti-Twilight. So if we expect people who are anti-Twilight to stay out of pro-Twilight threads, then the same has to go for Twilight fans staying out of anti-Twilight threads.

2. People should be able to express their opinion, whether it's positive or negative.

Guys, if you can't have a disagreement about a movie without resorting to calling another person's intelligence/sanity into question, you have a bigger problem than just the thread being closed.
