Well I just listened to Grave Peril for the third time and all I can say is somebody better turn this into a TV series SOON. It's like James is channeling Harry and as to all the other characters..holy c--p !! The way he did the ghost of Agatha Haggelthorn makes me wonder how much matériel James has inside of him that he can do that sort of thing so convincingly.

ITA! 🙂 I can see why the Buzzy ladies were so excited with James' performance (saying 'narration' or 'reading' doesn't do it justice, IMO) after he recorded it. James really *is* Harry. I loved the way that he did Thomas, Michael, and Agatha too (as you mentioned). I had to lol at the masquerade when Harry said the line "How are y'all doing?" with the lisp... 😉 He really nailed some of Bob's lines too, IMO.

I loved the first 2 audio books, but this one is my favorite, and I highly recommend it. 😀

It seems like we're getting a little closer. :banana: IMO, it's difficult to imagine anyone else in the role of Harry -- James IS Harry. 😀

The Sci-Fi Channel has begun looking for their Harry Dresden in the 2 hour MOW of "The Dresden Files". As many of you know, James brought this book to life in the audio version. Seems like most of the BTVS and AtS cast has gotten a chance to strut their stuff . It's James's turn. If the writing for the television movie is in half as good as the novels it is going to be terrific. If we get JAMES as Harry it'll be phenomenal.

Thesp ventures into TV with 'Dresden'

Making his first foray into television, Nicolas Cage has set up and will exec produce two-hour pilot "The Dresden Files" for Sci Fi Channel.
Cabler has greenlit production on the project, based on Jim Butcher's bestselling novels. Lions Gate Television is onboard to produce in association with Cage's Saturn Films.

Hans Beimler ("The District") and Robert Wolfe ("The 4400") will write and exec produce alongside Cage. Saturn Films' Norm Golightly and Morgan Gendel also will exec produce.

Story follows Harry Dresden, a wizard who makes his living as a Chicago-based private eye. Using his extraordinary abilities to see the paranormal forces behind crimes, Dresden helps the police solve their more baffling cases.

Sci Fi exec VP of programming Mark Stern said, unlike the cabler's other original dramas, "Dresden" will pursue a more procedural-style of storytelling.

"It's very much a detective procedural with a speculative sci-fi spin -- a first for us and something we've been looking to do for a while," Stern said. "What the script did so well was to make the fantasy elements integral to (rather than superimposed on) the plot."

"There's this 'Rockford Files' quality to it that I love," he added.

"Dresden Files" is one of two pilots under series consideration at Sci Fi. Other is "Painkiller Jane," a comicbook adaptation about a young woman exposed to a biochemical weapon that gives her self-healing powers. Production on "Jane" wrapped early this year.

Sci Fi last month ordered to series "Eureka," a quirky drama about a man who stumbles upon a small town of geniuses working for the government (Daily Variety, Sept. 26).

"Dresden" is out to directors and casting. Production will begin in Toronto this fall for a target summer 2006 premiere.

Cage will next produce and star in "The Wicker Man" for writer-director Neil LaButeNeil LaBute. He toplines Paramount's upcoming pic "The Weather Man."

Audiobooks

Not DF Pilot Project news but some info about the audiobooks:

Buzzy Multimedia, the publishers of the DF audiobooks, have decided to publish Fool Moon and Grave Peril in MP3 format as they did with Storm Front. It's a good deal for them and for the fans because they cost less for them to produce, so they can sell them for less, which makes it more accessible to more fans. Plus, there's the added advantage that it's much easier to 'tote' one CD vs 8 or 9 when you're traveling. 😉

I wanted to bring up that they have a special deal, but it ends 10/21/05, for all 3 DF audiobooks in MP3 format; for the details, go to their main page at http://www.buzzymultimedia.com/ to read all about it. 😀 I mean, it's all 3 audiobooks for $75 plus free shipping. Note that it is a pre-order and as with their others in the past, I'm assuming that you do get charged now though they will be shipped the week of December 1st. But, IMO, it's a great deal and ideal timing for a Christmas gift for yourself or someone else.
 
James not to be Harry in TV Pilot Movie

It's been announced on several sites, so I guess that's close to official:

Actor Paul Blackthorne will be Harry in the 2 hour back-door pilot, and the Director will be David Carson. Two of the sites with the news are:

BUT, we still have James as Harry (as well as all of the other wonderful characters since he 'does' them all) on the 3 audiobooks that he's already narrated and hopefully more books of the series in the future. 🙂 The publishers of the audiobooks, at www.buzzymultimedia.com, say that James is still the audio voice of Harry as far as they are concerned for as long as he is willing to do them (assuming contracts, schedules, etc can be worked out, of course).
