Some people don't really care about her, while others hate her, and others adore her. Your thoughts:

(I'll add mine here soon, just want to see others opinions first! =D)

I love love love her. I thought she was a great addition to the show; it gave Giles a friend his own age (or near it, anyway), and she could have been a very powerful addition to the Scoobies if she had gotten to stay around longer. I was heartbroken when she was killed. 🙁

I don't really care about her and I never really enjoyed her character much. Although, I did think her and Giles made a sweet couple.

She Was Okay, I Liked Her and Giles Together. But Not My Favorite Character...

Yeah, I did like that. I thought she was a good addition too. I remember when I first saw it and hoped she would have lasted just a little longer. Giles had someone to talk to and I liked Giles/Jenny.

I liked her... I mean she was cool and all (although she definitely should have told someone about the curse and about being from the gypsy tribe that cursed Angel...) but I never really cared much about her. I mean after she died it was sad... but I never really gave her much thought after that.

When I was watching Buffy for the first time as it aired I loved Jenny and was gutted when she died.

But now that I think about it I don't think I ever liked her personality all that much. Rather I loved how she made Giles (one of my all time favourite characters) feel. That she was as HisMrs pointed out his grown up companion and that was great for him.

But I dunno, now I think about it she never seemed to have much time for the rest of the scoobies. And she really didn't seem all that sorry about Angel turning evil when she could have prevented it and I know she came from the people who Angel supposedly "hurt the most" and had her allegiances or whatever but come on!

To be honest I think there was a reason evil took the form of Jenny Calender so often, it felt right at home there...Ok there I said it. 😉

I loved her! Partly because we share a name, lol, but mostly because she was AWESOME, sexual, hilarious, confident, hot, (I could go on @_@) and she made people happy. I don't think her "betrayal" of the Scoobies was really quite a betrayal either. I understand Buffy and Giles being upset with her, but I also understand her reasons for keeping her identity from them. I never hated her for it.

Sadly...I think since she died so early on in the show, I forgot about her a little on the way. So I can't say I'm one of those Jenny fans who is super bitter about her death or anything. I just watched Passion today, btw, and oh. Poor Jenny. 🙁

I liked how she brought out another layer of Giles' character, I don't think his character would have developed as much throughout the early series' if she hadn't been there. Plus she was witty and while her storyline was a bit rushed, she did provide the show with another adult character who had a bit of depth.

I like Jenny. I wish she'd been around longer. She was really good for Giles. Ah Monster trucks... 😀

The First?

Did I miss something? As far as I can remember, the First took the form of Jenny just once, in Amends, and then the Jenny character never showed up and was almost never mentioned again.

It seems to me killing off Jenny was a mistake. Her character could've been developed. She could've distanced herself from the Gypsies while still maintaining contacts. They could've been another source of intel for the Scoobies, possibly even produce a villain. She could've developed relationships with the Scoobies individually, she could've been a mother figure for them, especially after Joyce died. She could've advised Willow on her magical development, without being a rival.

And she could've hooked Giles into going to Burning Man. Boy that would've made a great ep!

I liked the character. I thought that she made an interesting counterpart to Giles as he was portrayed in the first two seasons. I thought that her being Angel's Gypsy "Watcher" was more than a little contrived, and obviously just a way to convince both Buffy and the audience that Angel had truly left the building, and that staking Angelus was allowable. I've wondered, since I first herad the real reason that Doyle and later Cordy were written out of "Angel" if there might have been some sort of similar reason to kill Jenny. Joss wouldn't be the first writer/producer to use that excuse to remove an actor who they had issues with.

I think Jenny's reasoning for not letting scoobies know her true identity is up there with Wesley giving Connor to Holtz in terms of bad writing.

Both situations called for cool heads. Especially in the case of Jenny, there was no reason for her to keep her true identity a secret. If anything I think the scoobies would have welcomed it, especially Angel. That being said, Jenny being open about her reasons for coming to Sunnydale basically negates the idea of having drama in a show. I don't know though, it could have been done better IMO.

I loved Jenny Calendar's character...expect for what she did to Buffy and Angel...but even after that, you could see she wasn't so shady after all..she didn't understand the situation and she was trying to be forgiven. I think that, if she hadn't died, Buffy would've forgiven her with time..as I did at least. Another thing I loved was her relationship with Giles..so sweet and it would've been something deep and important...what a shame.

I always really liked her. Which, I'm a big G/J fan so of course, that's not too surprising. I liked her because of her quick wit, and obvious cuteness with Giles, but besides that, she was just a cool character because she had so much depth: a gypsy raised in a culture where her duty to her family was priority; so she went to Sunnydale to fulfill her destiny. Which is a big deal; I mean if this tribe is still punishing Angel, being the one who keeps an eye on him must be comparable to being the watcher who is assigned a slayer (parallels Giles!). So she takes this new identity and she saw it as job, but then as she got involved with the Scoobies, she started to want to have this new life as Jenny Calendar, the computer science teacher, and so she slowly starts leave her old life behind and stop writing her family (which is a huge deal for her culture) as she fell in love with Giles. And she wasn't honest with Giles and Buffy about her reasons for being in Sunnydale, but she didn't know Buffy was the slayer or that Giles was her watcher until Prophecy Girl, so it's not like she sought them out to betray them. And I don't believe she pretended to be a very different person then who she really was- I mean, we know she was sent to Sunnydale to watch Angel, but you can't just fake being a computer science teacher so we know she really was a technopagan. With all that tugging between her upbringing and the new life she wanted in Sunnydale, I thought she was portrayed as very conflicted which seemed real.

I would have loved to have gotten to have more of her in the show, to fill in the missing gaps about her life. She had such an interesting back story, I was sad to see her go so soon, and how some people didn't like her for her betrayal of Giles and the gang. Of course, it would have been good for her tell Giles at least what was going on. He did tell her about Buffy being the slayer which is a no-no, but being raised in such a tight-knit culture, I think the fact she was so conflicted about her 2 lives and how sorry she was proved how much the Scoobies meant to her.

Why must Joss kill off such good characters?

Maybe "The Dark age" is included in that theory.

The Dark Age, The First, Drusilla...
