Jodie's time as The Doctor is officially over

I'm pretty sure this is a rumour but it's being said in the community that Doctor Who was going to be cancelled if RTD didn't step in and come back. I can believe it because nobody involved with the show would admit it even if it is true because that means admitting what this past era has done to the show.

It is a rumour, it was reported on Australian news about the next doctor.
Mary Poppins is basically a female The Doctor. But to be fair, that's a question they should have considered, beyond "Impersonate Tenent."

I think Sarah Jane is the best example of a female doctor I loved her
Listen. I don’t care what you say, that was the best send-off they could have done for Thirteen. And for the BBC anniversary to bring in the past companion and Doctor cameos. I really appreciated that. If Chibnall could have written his 3 series with as engagement as these past 3 specials, we might have seen a better reaction.

And honestly, I think Chibnall realized how utterly ridiculous the Timeless Child storyline was, and gave up on it. It doesn’t fit within the context of the rest of the series. Though I seriously thought that weird space jellyfish was going to be revealed as the Timeless Child, and continue that storyline. So I’m thankful that didn’t happen.

AND THE TENANT SURPRISE. I loved that. I figured they would have tried to fit in the Doctor and Donna into Ten’s storyline, so to find out Tenant will be Fourteeen is brilliant. I hope that means we get the Doctor and Donna for all three 60th specials next year before handing it off to Fifteen and Ncuti! Also his “what the hell is going on” in the preview makes me think we’re completely dropping the kiddy Doctor and getting back to high stakes doctor!

If anyone can save Doctor Who, it’s Davies. I’m really hoping he brings back the New Who classic logo from his era, and we get a better title sequence.

I’m so excited for the new Davies era!! Also I’m so much more thankful for Moffat after these Chibnall years. I rewatched some of Eleven a few months ago and it reminded me how much I loved the Ponds. I still haven’t been able to go back and watch Twelve. I have this Capaldi aversion. But I love Clara so I might just say screw it and do a rewatch.

Hubs has never seen Doctor and Donna so I will be rewatching that with him soon to prep him for our 60th anniversary.

Which is insane because I still feel like 50 was last year. And that was also the year I graduated college so knowing I’m getting closer and closer to being a decade out of college is really starting to hit me hard.

And I actually really liked this special. And I thought it was fitting that Thirteen regenerated by herself considering she did everything by herself and never explained anything.

The weird Doctors Anonymous at the end I could have done without though. There had to have been a better way to get those last few cameos without that group therapy session. It just makes it seem like every companion is permanently tainted by their time in the TARDIS, which doesn’t sit well with me. Like it makes sense that companions would seek each other out. But the group therapy just hit wrong for me.

Okay those are the thoughts I have for now. Just finished the special so I’m still reeling from that Tenant reveal.

OH it felt so nice to see him back in the Doctor’s clothes. I’ll overlook the fact that the doctor always regenerates into the old Doctor’s clothes because I’m sure there’s a Davies explanation somewhere.

I stopped at the end of Capaldi and haven't really missed it. However hearing the news of all the comebacks I think I'll give the specials a look.

The thing is a lot of people who absolutely hate the Timeless Child thing, including me, are still annoyed that Chibnall ditched it because that means he's just left this giant chunk of trash in the lore now. If Chibnall realised it was a bad idea he should have retconned it in one of the specials. It was The Master who told The Doctor about the Timeless Child, it could have been revealed to be a trick as part of him trying to send The Doctor over the edge and ruin her reputation. But Chibnall just doesn't have the balls to admit his mistakes so he just completely ignored it. I don't see RTD touching it because he's a professional and Chibnall is his friend and colleague.

I do agree that it wasn't a bad episode compared to what we've seen before from Chibnall but his era is always going to be an elephant in the room now.

Yeah everyone's just rolling with David being in his own clothes immediately because we can actually trust that RTD will have an explanation.

Oh I can see that being an easy retcon when the Doctor casually talks about it in the future. You're right in that this special would have been perfect for that reveal, though, because of the Cyber Masters, and it could have all been a ploy to get the Doctor questioning themself so that the Master could orchestrate the forced regeneration. It still leaves the pothole of the Fugitive Doctor, but.. maybe Davies will be able to course correct that whole plot in a classy way?

RTD could correct it but I'd guess he will just ignore it
I’m still on watching season 10. I think I’m gonna finish the capaldi’s era and then completely skip the Jodi’s era. Considering what you all said I don’t think it’s relevant to watch it.

It is going to be a long wait because the next Doctor Who episode is coming out in November next year

RTD has also confirmed that David Tennant is the 14th Doctor and Ncuti Gatwa will be the 15th Doctor.

So we'll have the 14th Doctor for 3 specials in November next year it seems.

I saw that today!! It will be an interesting arc, I’m sure! I can’t wait to see what’s going to get the Doctor and Donna back together. And I hope we get a surprise Rose or Martha cameo somewhere! Not just the girl named Rose. But like Billie and Freema. Even if it’s like a glimpse. I will be fine with that!

Yeah I wasn't satisfied by Billie in the 50th reunion because she wasn't Rose 🙁

According to the Australian news program this morning the option to buy Dr. Who has been done by Netflix.

I can’t speak for Australia, but I do know that it’s going to Disney+ here in the United States. I believe England is staying with BBC, naturally.

The poor Dr. Who, being pulled in so many directions, how will the new doctor cope?

Read that as well. Oh well. Will miss the time of it being on HBO. Shant be paying for Disney to watch it. Now maybe if it were on Netflix and Buffy ever gets around to giving up those login creds it might be a different story.

Re: Timeless Child; To be fair, it’s easy enough to purge The Doctor's personal history retcon as The Master was lying. The whole, advanced civilization built on human suffering story, that was weird, but isn’t as game breaking as the personal retcon.

That's why I wish it had been purged
The Doctor and Donna were the best duo on the show- maybe because they're the ones I grew up with but I think they had such entertaining banter.

I want it like this again but different for whatever new circumstance they're in and however they've changed for the specials.

For it not to be on the ABC is one of those *huge* signs of changing tv times for us down under. Its always been on the ABC. Another sad loss for free to air tv... Like Neighbours being cancelled 😭

On the bright side we won't have to put up with Rove McManus and his idiot mates.

I think it’s because they were actual friends, and not some weird romanticized “will they, won’t they”. This is why I liked the dynamic between Capaldi and Clara even though I didn’t really care for Capaldi. They were legit friends.

Yeah Martha's character was really weighed down by her infatuation with the Doctor, it was awkward
