Hey guys, i've just started university and i'm sure some of you must have too, just wondering if anyone wants to compare notes on the first scary few weeks. I'm doing Sports Studies at King Alfred's College in Winchester, England. If anyone else is going here that would be extra cool.

A tip from the dim distant past - don't spend all your money on books - the library is full of them and if your lecturers have any say they'll be the ones you need. Also, really important books can be got 2nd hand from the guys in the year above you.

I just started my second year at Liverpool John Moores. It's not that scary for me coz I'm still living at home (sad I know, but it's free..lol..) Plus there were people on my course who I went to college with, so I wasn't on my own.

You'll get used to it, and you'll meet loads of interesting people!!!

Good luck Willowlover! I remember my first few weeks of first year being a lot like a nightmare episode of the tv show Oz (with me in the role of Beecher). But it gets better quickly, and soon you'll be loving it!

Just remember to make sure your roommate's toenail clippings don't grow on their own.

I live at home too, true it does alienate you slightly from people but at my uni over half commute anyway. Alls im thinking about is allthe money im gonna save by being able to keep my jobs on and not pay rent!

I just started my first year doing Computing at the UEA in England and have to say it's been well, awesome. I had some problems beforehand mentally but after freshers, getting to grips with my environment and meeting some rad individuals (also the penchant for the occasional moshpit, rargh! 😀) i think everything has settled down to a nice balance. If you're having a rough time, don't let it get you down AND don't rely on others to save yourself from having a crappy time. Go out, meet new folks however hard it maybe because i know i'd rather be going into a room knowing a few faces then knowing none at all.

As i'm staying in one of the more expensive dorms, i'm also not so confined to sharing stuff which i've found to actually be a pain now as i find myself going over to other dorms instead. My dorm jeeeuuuust has no life, everyone keeps to themselves and it's the neighbours making the noise instead of me! My advice to any freshers is to kick start things, be confident and make the sacrifice (HOWEVER HARD IT MAYBE) to share things and TALK! (choose friends wisely, be yourself, yada yada yada, you know the drill) Try to seem like your talking to old friends but don't be over-friendly friendly, LOL. One more thing, make your room YOUR room, make things feel like home and keep a schedule/rota of things to do. Oh, and BUDGET, lol. 😀

i go to the unv of oslo, and it's pretty cool, i started there in late august/early sept last year, and i remember disliking two of my proffesors, this one woman who was ba, adn this man who didn't speak norwigan, he spoke danish, and REALLY fast!!!
this year i've started a new study, criminologi, and i love it!!(i don't live at home, i live on my own with my BoyF, luckely i had him with me last year, and this year, so we're not alone!!

BTW you guys started school last week?? i started in the middle of august!!

Unis two years away for me, although I still have an idea of what course would be cool (A scriptwriting one), bit early I know.

yeah univ is cool, hard work, but you learn so much stuff, that is so interesting, and you are the one who rules what you do! but when you start unv you gotta get ready for some serius work! Like i have to papers that has to be turned in nest week, it's just a first editon of the papers, the real one is to be turned in in november!! and it's so tough to fokus on two different subjects at the same time, and having them so lose to eachother, and i have another subject at the same time !.. but it's fun to learn!! 🙂
