There aren't so many jokes that can be told about kid Giles being horny, so I don't know what can possible be done with the character from now on.
But I like kid Giles, and I think Giles needed a reboot, after all his past actions.
In S6, he leaves when Buffy needs him most, using the excuse that she must learn to deal with things by herself; another father who abandons her, instead of staying, be a man, tell her to grow up - and be there for her.
In Season 7, Giles betrays Buffy as a person, and doesn't respect her neither as a Slayer nor as a leader, plotting with Wood to kill Spike:
Lies My Parents Told Me
GILES: Buffy... I-I understand your anger. Please believe me, we did what we-
BUFFY: He's alive. Spike's alive. Wood failed.
GILES: Well, that doesn't change anything. What I told you is still true. You need to learn-
BUFFY: No, I think you've taught me everything I need to know.
In Season 8, Giles leaves Buffy to work with Faith, not a favorite person of hers:
No Future For You
BUFFY: So you... decided to start... your own evil Slayer club? Why am I not surprised?
FAITH: I'm on your team!
BUFFY: You have a hilarious way of showing it. I can't believe I ever thought you changed.
FAITH: It ain't like that! Your Boy Giles sent me, you know... undercover!
BUFFY: You're lying! Giles never trusted you any more than I did.
– and he uses the Slayer (who had been struggling with her dark side not so long ago) to achieve his goal: to get rid of evil (but very human) Slayer Genevieve Savidge.
FAITH: You can skip the friendly uncle routine. I ain't your beloved Buffy, I'm the go-to girl for dirty deeds done dirt, right? So what do you need me to kill?
Then, he dies. And leaves all his possessions to Faith (except for the Vampyr Book, of course), while Buffy has to work as a waitress to afford... living.
Well, for me, he really did need a reboot.
