Knitting, Embroidery & Crochet...

I finished the poodles jumper, but it was bulky blanket yarn that kinda restricted when I put it on her. I rekon its too tight, even though she didnt complain. Im going to make a different one with different yarn and maybe with a Tunisian stitch this time.
 
Im making one of those blankets that rolls up to look like a bunch of flowers. I maybe should have counted rather than guessing how to crochet a circle free hand.
 
I started a punch needle cushion that @November gave me. I put the fabric in the hoops, I threaded the needle, I put needle through fabric. I gave up. I reread the instructions, put needle through fabric again, nope, just another hole.

It's back in the box now.

Oh boo :( silly kit
I know the basics of knitting but haven't actually made much. And I was really good at sewing doll clothes growing up, both with and without patterns. I've always wanted to get into making my own clothes, but it just never happened. If I can get some fabric, I might try making a simple dress or something. I need more clothes that are appropriate for work (business casual), but finding things that are flattering on me is a pain (short and fat). I was planning to try and knit myself a sweater vest last year but I kept losing track of my stitches and getting the fabric twisted and eventually I just set it aside and never came back to it.
 
I finished embroidering the pack of six bookmarks. For most of the thread, there was enough to more than enough, but not for two colours. One was very borderline, so perhaps if I had used it slightly more efficiently, I would have had enough, but it was a bit too close. The other only had one skein, and I bought and nearly used an entire second skein so that was way out!

Now I need to do the bits to turn them into actual bookmarks that I can use.

I just broke my embroidery needle 😭 I was trying to embroid a flower on a canvas bag, I didn't even get through one petal! It just snapped. Cheap. I have other needles but Im all done for tonight lol.

I think I have shared this before, but its a super simple follow along video. Jump in the deep end and start with a project like this. Crochet can be frustrating at first, but once you have the hang of it, you have the hang of it forever. After the first row of this, you just repeat the row over and over again, so don't give up, it gets easier.

 
Does anyone have any suggestions for what to do with a really ugly multi-colored yarn? I have a ton of red, white, and green yarn from a Christmas-y project I did literally a decade ago at this point and would like to find some use for it, but I can't think of anything I'd want to make that uses this pattern. I also say I have "a ton" but it's more like I have several very small balls of it, so definitely not enough for a large project.

Make Christmas presents for people, or little decorations.

Can you make granny squares with it, and then add them into a larger project?

How colour fast is the yarn? Because if it is decently colour fast, maybe some Christmas dishcloths? Though I suspect the colours may run.

Or, if it is that ugly, a scarf or mittens for someone you don't like? 😀

Well, with six bookmarks embroidered and ready to be made into actual usable bookmarks, did I immediately do that?

No! I started another bookmark from a kit. This one is stitch counting, uses only two strands not three and is on finer fabric. I think the end result looks better, admittedly. One issue with the kit is that, although it says it has enough of each colour as long as you aren't wasteful, it doesn't give you the colour numbers. So, if you run out, getting more is going to be a pain.

I really need to make the finished bookmarks.
 
And another bookmark done, this time stitch counted. I made a mistake calculating the centre, but not enough to cause any problems. The instructions weren't always the clearest for the backstitch colours, but it looks okay, so that's fine. Technically, this one is finished, but it could really do with a wash.
 
Im giving up on this bag that I brought specifically to embroid! Broken two needles now, so thats it. I chopped the bits I had done off, it can stay a plain black bag instead.

Pick it up! It can be worth checking out the cheaper shops like that because they often have crafting stuff cheap. Home Bargains is worth looking at as well. Poundland too, for some kinds of crafting supplies.
 
Well, the last bookmark I embroidered was a pattern only one, so I picked up the materials myself. And the high rated embroidery fabric I got from Amazon was total garbage; it started falling to pieces as I tried to finish the bookmark, it was so thin.

It looks like I bought the wrong kind of embroidery material. I got embroidery fabric and, for what I was using it for, it needed to be embroidery canvas, which is thicker. So, bookmark number eight is going better on the second attempt.
