"la classe" is only the room where you teach, the classroom.

J'ai une question (ne à  francais, à  Buffy). En francais, on dit Alex et ne Xander?

(Okay, that wass crappy French, what I meant to say was: In French, do you say Alex instead of Xander?)
 
J'ai compris ce que tu voulais dire et oui, en français on dit Alex et non Xander tout bonnement parce que Xander ne veut rien dire mais aussi parce que ça ne sonne pas très joliment.

I understood what you wrote in French and to asnwer your question, yes, in the French version Xander is called Alex because Xander in French doesn't sound nicely plus this abreviation doesn't exist for the name Alexander.
