Everyone loves to hate on Season 1. So let's try a different tack. What do we love ABOUT Season 1? Here's a few off the top of my head:

-Buffy in mini dresses.
-Willow in overalls. (She's so nerdy cute!)
-Cordelia at her bitca-i-est.
-The first Buffy/Angel kiss - What Bangel fanvid is complete without it?
-Crossbows - they almost disappear after this season.
-"I may be dead, but I'm still pretty."

Anyone else?

I like season 1. Actually, I don't have hated seasons.

- Prophecy Girl, the whole episode. A great season finale.
- Cordy in Nightmares 😀
- Geeky Willow with brown hair.
- Happy Buffy is always good. Her lines are so cute. "Don't you wanna go oooh?" and her singing "Macho man", etc. 😉

I love how uptight Giles was. It was funny. 😀
I love Principal Flutie... I was so sad he got eaten. 🙁
I love Xander's incredibly horrible shirts... It looked like they raided the wardrobe stock from "Three's Company". 😛
I love SMG's supershort miniskirts. Although there is no high school in America that she could have gotten away with dressing like that in.
Willow is absolutely adorable. I miss her being so cute and sweet. 🙂

There's definitely eps that I really don't like but overall I really like season one. Welcome to the Hellmouth and The Harvest never fail to feel like an event to me.

I love season 1 so much. You gotta love Buffy's dresses and hair, I love when she wears pony tail like in The Puppet Show 🙂 I like nerdy Will 🙂

My fav episode is Angel, and I love Buffy's dress 🙂

I love season one. Sure it's a bit cheesy compared to later seasons, but the dialogue and characterization were pretty much great from the beginning. Some good stuff:

- It's nice seeing Buffy so (comparatively) happy and carefree.
- Willow is adorable.
- Giles. He's so stuffy to begin with (but still likeable). It's interesting to see how far he's come.
- The beginnings of Buffy/Angel.
- The Master, who in my opinion is more entertaining than he gets credit for.
- Prophecy Girl. Just...Prophecy Girl.

- Adorable Xander, with floppy hair and he looked SO young!
- A lot of Buffy/Xander/Willow moments
- Stuffy Giles, so innocently cute
- Xander and Angel's awesome scene in Prophecy Girl "You're in love with her" "Aren't you?"

Even though season 1 is not even close to being my favourite, I'm still very attached to it. I, sometimes, find myself missing it..a lot. Some of the stuff I really liked:

-the silly outfits
-the birth of the Scooby gang
-Giles slowly becoming a father figure to Buffy and less of a Watcher
-Buffy's innocence
-Willow just being...Willow...sweet, nerdy, Willow
-Xander bringing Buffy to life; I also think Xander was way cuter in season 1 than he is in the later seasons. For some reason, I don't like him that buffed.

I'm sure there's more than this, I just can't seem to focus right now. 😛

The things that I liked about Season 1:

1) Buffy was the new kid in school, and sort of lost.

2) She wasn't the invincible pile driver super Slayer that she later became. Single vampires gave her trouble (Primarily Luke and ultimately the Master.) She had to resort to trickery and rely on her friends to bail her out on occasion.

3) Everyone was kind of innocent and inexperienced, even Giles. It was obvious from the first that he completely underestimated Buffy and her potential as a demon fighter. In Season 1, he was just the typical cliche' British book worm, tweed and all, almost as bad as Wesley would be 2 years later.

4)Even the beginnings of Bangel were kinda cute, from the mysterious "A" in Buffy's diary to the first beginnings of the brooding tortured anti-hero. Pure Harlequin Romance.

5) Joyce, who had not one single clue what was going on, either in Buffy's school or concerning her Slayer duties.

6) And, of course, Cordelia and her entourage.

7) But above and beyond everything elas, my favorite thing about Season 1 of "Buffy" is that, without it, there would have been no Seasons 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, or 7. No Faith, or Spike, or Wesley. No Glory, no Jonathan, none of the great memories of the entire series, plus no Angel, or everything associated with that show.

All of that from 12 little episodes from a mid summer replacement.

I don't care how camp and cheesy season 1 is, it's one of my favourite seasons. I enjoy every episode in it, and yes that includes "I, Robot... You, Jane" 😛.

I absolutely adore Season 1. It's deliciously campy in all the right ways, and really explores to the shows' horror roots. Love it, love it. 'The Pack' is one of my all-time favorite episodes.

I finished watching Buffy and yesterday I started rewatching season 1! I never hated season 1!It has almost everything about the essence of the show. The birth of the Scooby Gang, the special slayer Buffy who also wants to have a social life, the birth of a great love(and one of the most passionate kisses of the show IMO in "Angel"...you have to admit it guys...!!!) , Buffy dying in the end and coming back(she is gonna make this a habit in the future) and finally the innocence of highschool. Also the mythology of the vampires is covered up pretty well in "the Harvest".

Cordy is there, young Xander and Will, Angel ,Darla, the Master, Giles and last but not least our great Buffy who dresses up very nicely! 🙂

as much fun as principal snyder was for his two and a half seasons till the demon mayor squashed him...i think it would have been a funny running joke to see new principals bite it every few episodes...

"welcome to the hellmouth" is a classic.

most of my favorite one liners come from season one.

Think S1 is the best season really. Some great episodes and only one really bad (the puppet show thing). Also S1 is the only season that is "belivable". Not too many people on the show know about Vampires and Buffy in season 1. So it still makes sense to think about it as a dark hidden world only a few know about.

After season 1 it seems more and more people find out and that demons are everywhere. By the time of S3 it stops making sense to imagine that the rest of the human world doesn't know about vampires already. Since the demon world doesn't seem to be hidden at all. In S4 with the Initiative, and the military knowing about demons, at least for me I thought it just became silly. There is just no way to keep a major operation like that secret. The existance of vampires would be in newspapers within days.

I guess I liked the original movie when I first saw it. Both the movie and season 1 kept the demon world on a smaller scale and it made sense that a single slayer could deal with everything. Season 2 was more or less ok as well I think but in the other seasons (with the possible exception of season 5) demons where everywhere and I kind of thought the main idea of the show was lost (not to say individual episodes weren't great).
