🙁 🙁 the new rabbit virus is active on the farms. It lives in the soil, on shoes and is spread by insects. All hay grown on farms is possibly deadly. My yard has wild rabbits in after the shire ripped off my rabbit proof fencing along the front. Even my home grown veg is at risk of killing my babies.
This virus is untested long term and the vaccine is causing pet deaths. Wild rabbits eventually build up an immunity, but pets do not. They have been releasing viruses like this since the 50's. Isnt the definition of insanity doin the same thing over and over and expecting different results? The region has already suffered irrepairable damage even before the strains become active in late spring! The population recovers every time...
I told the pub to start aiming for rabbits on their drives home. For some stupid reason the town thinks I want to save wild bunnies. I do not. I just want my pet bunnies to live! The virus liquifies their organs and kills animals in a horrific and painful way. Surely we are smarter than releasing untested live viruses into food growing districts? Apparently not. I am scared for my sweet little bunnies but will give them a life of luxury until their time of passing. Its too stressful to keep them safe, so once they pass, I will likely no longer be able to keep pets 🙁
Imagine the response if this virus was aimed at cats?
