I really liked Lindsey's character. Of the employees of WR&H, i'd say he was the least evil.

He had good in him...just it was outweighed by ambition and anger.

Nevertheless I think Angel having him killed was wrong. For one thing Lindsey had agreed to help him. Second he offered to sing for Lorne again..this could have shown if his heart had truly changed and he was a better person. But because of Angel's scheming poor Lorne had to kill him and we can neve rknow if Lindsey was on the path to redemption.

So i think it was horrible and wrong...but I love the character so maybe that' swhy.
What are your thoughts?
 
Meh, I wish Lindsey had been holding onto Russell Winters chair on the way down!

Lindsey was part of the problem and not the solution.
Angel knew he was not going to be around and while he couldn't prevent other nasties, Lindsey was easily corrupted by power, so he would have been Angels next 'take down' - so Angel took him down.

I agree. I was very disturbed about that and still am. I still think it was unneccesary.

btw, this thread is a spoiler. Someone should probobly edit it?
 
It's totally wrong. Lindsey helped Angel and then, he killed him. It's like Angel used him. I wont complain if he kill Lindsey before the fight. 🙁

By the way, Angel in season 5 scared me. He also killed poor Drogyn. 🙁
 
Lindsey is one of my favorites and killing him may not have been righteous, but i think it had to be done. Lindsey was not trustworthy, had evil in him, had tried to have angel killed, got killers off in court, too big a risk letting him live. I suppose they could have used him in the final battle them took him out, but come on, how much help is Lindsey really gonna be? Not much is what.

Also, Angel couldn't be sure Lindsey had really changed. Remember s1 when Lindsey claimed to have changed only to backstab Angel! Lindsey had sung for Lorne before too, so Lorne may have known Lindsey would ultimatly betray Angel again.

Why read the Season 5 forum if you don't want to risk spoilers? Duh!

Lets' face it, Lindsey changed his mind every other episode, had bad choice in women (Darla, Eve) and needed to get to a decent barbers pronto. He wasn't likeable in any way shape or form. I actually think Lilah had more integrity in that she never sat on the fence, she picked a side and stayed with it, reminded everyone at intervals that she was evil and couldn't be trusted and had great taste in men (Wes).
 
I do think that killing Lindsey was kinda bad. He could have proven to be a powerful alli. But as usual, you never know about Lindsey. He does what he pleases, and what benefits him. The only thing he cares about is himself, and Eve. But Lindsey had played his part, and there was nothing more to gain from his role.

Some people do read the board using the "new posts" feature. So to see a threadtitle is easy to do even if one is trying to avoid a certain section of the board.

And about the topic, EB and BIWB has already mentioned what I see as important so no need for me to repeat it. I do understand if people find the death annoying/disturbing.
 
I changed the thread title. True, it's four years old EB, but that argument only flies when it's only viewable in the Season 5 forum.

Anyway, about Lindsey's death... do I really want to get into this?

Well, ok, I will. I think it was wrong of Angel to have Lindsey killed. I think it was wrong of Angel to force Lorne to do it. I think Lorne knew it was wrong when he did it. I think Joss did it to piss me off personally. Wait, scratch the last one...

What was that Angel quote about how the world isn't perfect, but we need to live as if it was to show people how it can be? Well, I felt Angel went back on everything he'd ever said when he ordered Lindsey to be killed. Lindsey had become the Spike on Buffy of AtS. He's evil, yes, but you haven't killed him till now why? With Lindsey there was actually a reason. He had a chance at redemption, unlike Lilah, and without the influence of the Senior Partners he might have taken it. I think people tend to forget that by Season 5 Lindsey was no longer allied to them. He had one objective, and one only. Angel. Now, sure, if someone was trying to kill me I might not be pleased, but since when did Angel kill for that? Check Faith, he helped her, and she was hurting other people.

I think Angel's ordering Lindsey killed was the ultimate perversion of his character pulled by Wolfram and Hart. If he hadn't taken over their offices, he would never have done that. He might have cut off a limb. He might have stuck a sign on the back of his truck. He might have even left him in his own personal hell. But he wouldn't have killed him.

I think Lorne knew this. I think Lorne knew Lindsey had the capacity to be good. I think this is why Lorne was so torn up when he said "I've heard you sing."

But mostly, I think Lindsey's death was Joss' trying to kill too many people in Not Fade Away. It was unnecessary, and I don't think Angel would have done it. But, I can reconcile it with the rest of season 5, if I try hard enough.

Plus, why wouldn't Angel want Lindsey to become the new big bad after they all die going up against the Senior Partners? I mean, who's more incompetent at carrying out evil schemes that Lindsey?

No, that argument 'flies' when its been seen all around the world, with only a handful of people getting into the show who haven't seen it before.

The thing is Angel is a hypocritical idiot. Angel did far worse things than Lindsey and is trying to redeem himself, but god forbid someone else (like Lindsey) have that chance.

Your looking at it the wrong way. The situation wasn't about being hypocritical, it was about what was best for Angel and his crew. Put your hate for Angel aside, would you risk Lindsey being around?

You're not comparing Angelus to Lindsey are you? True, Angel has done pretty aweful stuff, but he's no Angelus.
I wouldn't call Angel hypocritical. Lindsey was a direct threat to him, 1 he wanted to kill Angel before. 2 lorne says 'i've already heard you sing'... Why would Lorne say that? Why would Angel let Lindsey live only for Lindsey to backstab him?

I don't think I'm looking at it the wrong way, just not the same as you. Obviously it's not ABOUT being hypocritical, but he still is being hypocritical. I'm sure a lot of things would be justifiable if someone wanted to kill Angel. And I don't hate Angel, I just find him incredibly annoying.

i loved lindsay alot i didnt like the way it ended but didnt angel promise him the chair if they pulled through it all angel couldnt let that happen, he was easy to lead into being evil thats why i loved him
 
When Lindsey said ''you dont kill me, Angel kills me'' it seemed like he was more annoyed that Lorne killed him than the actual dying itself. I got the impression that in Lindseys mind he saw himself eventually being in a fight to the death with Angel, he wanted it to happen that way, meaning, he had not changed at all, underneath his act he was still planning on betraying and fighting Angel at

Some point in the future. So Lindseys last words told me Angel made the right decision on killing him.
 
I have no problem with Lindsey being killed. I just feel sad that Lorne had to do it.

Lindsey worked for murders. Hell, he helped with the killing in his own way. He did agree to help Angel, but I doubt it was out of the goodness of his heart. I wanted that bastard dead since the first episode of Angel, and I had a Hallelulejah moment when he got shoot(okay, I was a little sad, I'm not a monster).

The fact that he cared for kids, or that he cared for Darla just makes me mader, because it proves that he had the potential to be, if not nice, atleast not a killer, but he wanted the career. Then he wanted revenge.

He sucks. Ops, sorry, sucked.
 
I wish they didn't kill him off. In NFA just before Lorne kills Lindsey, Lindseys talking about being part of the team, and he seems genuine and wants to change. If there was a s6 of Angel it would've been sweet if he had lived and joined AI. He would have fit in perfectly.
 
This scene was a sad one for me. I always like Lindsey, and hoped that he would come around and join the good fight. I thought he had major potential, but at the same time, I see why Angel felt he couldn't be trusted. I mean, hello, look at what he did in "You're Welcome".
I hated that it had to be Lorne to do it. 🙁 I felt so sad for Lorne and I understand why he asked Angel not to come looking for him after it was done. 🙁

I agree. Nfa was actually the saddest verse ep for me. The lorne/Lindsey thing coupled with the wes/fred(illyria) thing. So sad *cries*
I loved this epsiode but killing Lindsey seemed rushed (like the whole blackthorn thing) It was dramatic though and very emotonal, he isn't bothered about being killed he just doesn't want to be killed by a 'flunky'. I find it very upsetting.
