Lounge/ Common Room/ Tea Bar - Thread #4

I've watched a couple of eps when it has been on tv Jodast and I think it's ok. I kind of enjoy it, but I don't think I would go to the trouble of finding/buying all the episodes, it's not that good in my opinion. 🙂

We got given two cats today. One is called Earl and the other Randy. Randy is a girl! But anyway, looks like whoever had them before is a fan of My Name is Earl.

Randy just hid behind the television all day, and Earl is a nuisance. You can't do anything without him getting in the way. 😛 I love him already. 😉

I couldn't get any good pics because they wouldn't stay still 😛

All I know is that they've had six different owners, and the last owner only had them for two days. My dad's friend got them for us. I'm still trying to figure out if he did us a favour, or if he hates us. 😉

Aw I think that Earl is my favorite, they're both adorable though! But then I'm a sucker for white paws and they both seem to have 'em...

Poor kitties, six different owners ain't easy 🙁
My mom took in two cats like that, that had been shipped around, called Tarzan and Baloo and man, they were a nightmare! But they were huge too and not fitted to live in an apartment, so we gave them away to a family who lives on a farm where they get to roam more freely and they're much happier now! They keep the place free of mice we've been told 🙂

I hope that yours won't be like that but that they'll settle in well with you and yours. Either way, they're bloody cute so congrats to having them around (and remember if they don't drive you crazy sometimes it's not real love...)

Yep, the both have white paws :p Randy has beautiful fur though. It's really soft! :)
Anyone ever had their Wisdom teeth pulled out? Just came back from the dentist and the aenesthesia(sp?) is coming off and it huuuuuuuuurts. Tricks to help for the pain?

Take some painkillers now before it completely wears off. And keep taking them regardless of the pain for a day or two. Hope it gets better.

Mine didn't get pulled out, I had surgery. My brother had two pulled and two cut out at the regular dentist and he just used a lot of ibuprofen and ice packs.

Nope, I haven't had my wisdom teeth pulled out, but I heard eating lots of ice cream helps. 🙂

They said I can't eat anything too cold or too hot for 24h. Isn't ice cream for tonsils(sp?) though?

I had my bottom Wisdom teeth pulled. I can't remember what I took for pain. Sorry.🙁

You gotta eat soft food right? Shakes and etc.

Vamp Jenny agrees: yeah. Ate soup for dinner and thinking about eating oatmeal tomorrow morning.

Maybe something as warm as soup and oatmeal might make you feel better too.😛

Speaking of... I'm having surgery in a few weeks to remove all 4 wisdom teeth. (With no dental insurance ughhh) Anyone had that done? I'm having issues with one coming in and giving me migraines and decided just to have them all cut out at once. I'm wondering how much work I should plan to take off. The woman I spoke with told me at least 24 hours minimum recovery time, but also said most people who get all 4 removed at once need at least 72 hours recovery. I'm curious if that's about right.

my dentist told me it's at least 36 to 48h for full recovery, but I had it easy. If there are complications, it can apparently be up to 72h. I think taking 2 days off would be enough and after that you'll see if you need more. I'm lucky, I only work Friday night.

Alright, thanks for your help. I work 6 days a week and just took some off for vacation. It's pretty sucky that I need to take more off. I'm hoping to just take the day of the surgery and day after off and be able to work after that. The possibility of a 36 hour recovery though makes me hopeful. *crosses fingers*

I haven't myself, buut my best friend had it done earlier this year. Not to put the wind up you, but it took him longer than 48hrs to recover. He had left it a very long time and they were tremendously impacted though.

Yeah, I'm trying to prepare at work for the possibility of it taking a few days. Prepare for the worst, hope for the best and all that. 😛 😉 According to my last X-ray, I was told it didn't look like it'd be problematic to remove but that was 2 months ago. Since then, it's still been slowly tearing the gum apart more and more. 🙁 I'll have a better perspective a week before the surgery after another X-ray is taken. Til then, I'm just trying to get my finances in order so I can actually pay for it. 😱 No use in worrying about the surgery yet until I figure out a way to pay for it haha.

It depends on how impacted they are. Mine were pretty much in my jaw bone and it took close to four days before I could even function like a human being. (That's not typical.) I would plan to be out from work for the day of surgery, plus two more days for sure.

Ouch! :( Thanks for posting, I'll try to get at the least 3 days off total.
If your having a general anaesthetic it takes 48 hours to recover fully regardless of what you've had done (thats whats normally advised to patients) and most drs will suggest that you don't drive or do much of anything for the first two days after surgery. I would give yourself enough time to recover fully or you may end up feeling crappy for much longer than necessary. Hope everything goes ok for you 🙂

I'm a pro at this ahahah
I had all of my wisdom teeth removed by a surgeon on the 21 of July. I stayed in the hospital all day and they already gave me something to eat after 3 hours from the surgery (yogurt). I didn't feel pain until the evening 'cause the sedative and the anaesthetic didn't wear off totally until then, but I had to take a painkiller every 12 hours for the following 3 days and then just when I felt pain.
The surgery was on a saturday morning and I was able to go out already on wednesay. I still was a bit swollen but not much. After twoo weeks the doctor took the stitches out.
The doctor totally forbidded me from eating warm stuff for the two days after the operation, just cold stuff that helps the healing. Plenty of yogurt, ice cream, ice lollies, puddings and so on 🙂 then I started eating mashed potatoes and some risotto, not hot but just a little warm 🙂
But don't worry, it's not that painfull, the stitches can be bothering though! 🙂
I don't know if they gave you a special mouthwash to disinfect, but a mouthwash made of water and a teaspoon of salt really helps the healing!
