35 year old Timothy White was arrested by Jacksonville, Florida police after he shot a fellow Domino's Pizza co-worker in the face and the stomach, thinking the man was a vampire. The victim, David Harrison, is in a hospital in critical condition.

White's friends describe him as a born again Christian who seems to have an obsession with vampires and zombies. White had a sawed off shotgun, three pistols and a knife when police arrested him.

The workers at the Domino's Pizzeria have been provided with a grief counselor to help them deal with what happened.
 
I do... Sh!t! While I have sympathy for the man who was injurred and the people involved, I worry that some of the fundamentalist groups that have had it in for Buffy and Angel for a while will use this as an example for their cause.

Poor man.
 
Irony is, that the fundamentalist groups are Christians as well, just like this man.
 
"TV made me do it" is just another excuse used by criminals to justify their actions. Everyone is a victim nowadays and no-one takes responsibility for their own actions IMO. Blaming Buffy for something like that is just as relevant as blaming the Teletubbies or Tom and Jerry or even saying "God (or the Devil) told me to do it". I think that people who do this sort of thing are probably mentally ill or just plain evil. If the former then put them somewhere they can't hurt anyone else and try to help them - if the latter, just put them away somewhere for a long time...

Wow...that's awful...my sympathies to the victim and his family, and I hope the guy who did this gets help and is locked behind bars for many many years...
 
This is horrible, and I do have sympathy for the victim and wish him well....but I have to admit that my first reaction to reading that story was: "Everyone knows you don't kill a vampire by shooting him!"

Does that make me INSENSITIVE, or DESENSITIZED?
 
Poor guy. The guy who got shot not the "vampire slayer." It was on the news in Las Vegas. (I live there)

hmmm... probably desensitized.

Very sad. Poor shot guy, Poor schizophrenic guy ( or just majorly delusional). Poor TV, who's probably going to get sued now because people feel they shouldn't be responsible for their own decisions and actions.

well color me insensitive cause i thought the same thing needless to say my mom thought that i was insensitive for sayin it
 
yeah that's kinda scary ::huh::

i totally agree with Mr. pointy tho, for them to use that as any reason, is pointless, there is always more to the story, then to blame tv.
 
I understand that there is more to the story, for sure... But Buffy and Angel are easy targets for things like this, just as they were blamed for the rise in witch craft amound youth... I just hope that they don't try to blame Buffy for something like this, that's all i was getting at.

Aw, sh*t...my EJ just got a part time job with Dominos...well, I guess he'll just have to wear that cross that his aunt got him...lol...though I'm voting on the Smith and Wesson 45 cal. myself...what is this world coming to? Man, to think of all the things one could get away with with half assed defenses such as these...wheeeeeee! ::eyes1::

Now I don't feel so horrible. I'm not the only one who thought this....

I think it's mostly desensitized rather than insensitive...things this horrible happen so often we don't really react to them anymore....
