Mark Watches Buffy (and Angel) #2

"Older and Far Away" is up! I liked this review a lot, maybe because I also loved the episode...I don't know what it is with TV shows, but I seem to love most the episodes where they just sit around doing nothing all day. From "Older and Far Away" in Buffy to "The One Where No One Is Ready" in FRIENDS, I just love episodes that have nothing going on in them.

From today's AtS review:

(Just a bit of a side note: who makes these prophecies? Like, where the hell do they come from? Is someone keeping track of them? Do The Loa have some sort of master list of prophecies? I DON’T UNDERSTAND. This isn’t important, though.)

/tears in eyes/ That is the entire point, what with false prophecies. (And why am I typing like I'm in a comic book?)

I skim through his posts. Mostly I check them out just for the fun gifs that are entertaining, but honestly, I have a hard time reading his reviews. Once in awhile I will love his reviews but more often than not, aside from a few points I agree on, I don't.
I love everything about Buffy/Angel. I could watch nothing but Buffy for the rest of ever and be in happy land. So some of his more harsh reviews hurt my die hard fan heart. I do sometimes feel like things are taken out of context, or what is being shown in the show is being interpreted in a way that just blows my mind? But I of course think all things Buffy are just flawless so it could just be me!

Don't get me wrong, I respect his views 100%. I believe everyone is entitled to their opinion and I believe most people have good reason for feeling the way they do. It just irks me because I see a lot of people that might disagree with his reviews get bashed. I always thought it was good and fun to discuss varied opinions, but it sometimes looks like if it isn't one shared view, it isn't a welcomed view?

I have said it before, but I credit Buffy for more or less saving my life. Not that I was going to actually die, but I was in a dark place going nowhere fast and totally unkind to myself. Finding joy in the buffyverse helped me find joy in my own universe, so maybe I am the one taking it personally. But yeah, I have such mixed feelings about his reviews. Idk 🙁

I still read Mark's reviews, though not always the Angel ones, just because I have little interest in S4. I'm glad he's enjoyed most of season 7. He didn't like Get It Done so much, though, and I can understand why. I just like it because Andrew bakes. 😀
