Marvel Films

I don't think so. Harrison Ford is still doing his own stunts in Indiana Jones and he doesn't look or do too bad.
As long as Sam stays in shape, which I see no reason for him not to, then he has a good few years in him.
Also, the films he will have a major role in are:
Nick Fury
The Avengers
S.H.I.E.L.D
And possibly sequels for them but to be fair, we don't have any clue what they have in store for his character, how big his role is and what action he will have to do.
As I say, it is a standard clause for ANY movie to have an actor sign on for a sequel for these types of movies, sometimes even a threequel, so you have your 9 movies right there (including Thor, IM2 and Ant-Man) but thats only an option.
Also, lets not forget that Marvel have totally redesigned Nick Fury in the image of Sam Jackson.
He may be a 61 year old, but he sure doesn't look like it.

Well if we look at it realistically...he is the leader of SHIELD so that means he leads more then he fights and usually it's the last bullet or punch so maybe he could pull it off. Oh and never use Harrison Ford again as an example. His age really showed in the fourth Raiders film.

Hmmmm so Edmund concurs with White Avenger about being 61 and fit and White Avenger doesn't give a Reputation remark? Hey White Avenger having a quick senior afternoon nap are ya? lol
OK if Sam is up for the movie what the hell let him do it. Besides who else has the presence and testosterone to play Nick Fury?

Next people will be saying Harrison Ford can't make a 4th Indiana Jones movie!! ... Oh wait..

I tried, but he was the last one that I gave reputation to.
Nine movies?? >.< These unreasonably large movie franchises make my head hurt. I personally don't need 9 movies of superheros and it's things like this that truly stand out as FOR THE MONEY and NOT THE FANS. That's my take on it all anyway.

Yeah, but the nine picture deal is spread across multiple franchises, from different writing and directing teams...if you consider each superhero or team its own franchise. But yeah, Marvel is obviously a business...and in theory it's in their interest to make quality films. Fox is the weak, sellout studio for superhero films, IMO.

If anyone watched the last clip after the credits of Iron Man, Samuel L Jackson showed up as Nick Fury. Then, in The Hulk, Robert Downey Jr showed up as Tony Stark. As much as I'd love to hope for some huge, wrapped in a bow movie arrangement that would tie everything together, I think I'll probably be 50 before they could pull it off without being forced. The Avengers movie keeps being pushed back and pushed back. Plus wouldnt it only make sense to have a member of Xmen show up in Spiderman then?

I saw the last clip as well and me looking forward to it!

Colin Salmon !!!!

No, no, no, no, no...James Bond English. An argument long ago that you won.
Nick Fury...born, bred and made in the U.S of A! A jarhead, cigar chompn', ham-hock fisted sumbitch that would rather stomp a mudhole in your chest then have a debate over who's momma makes the better apple pie not crumpets. A roughneck who drinks beer at noon not tea! Drinks Kentucky bourbon and uses scotch to wash his socks with.
So ask yourself Edmund does this Colin fella you propose have that kind of presence to be a convincing Nick Fury?

I believe in this guys quality of acting to be able to pull ALL that off - except the US of A stuff.

I tell you who DID come to mind though - Snake Plisskin from Escape from New York/LA or as he is known in real life, Kurt Russell.

Kurt Russell would make a great Fury. He practically played the part in "Soldier," except that Nick is a bit more talkative.

Doesn't matter if your Colin guy has the acting ability, I presented a few Americans with quality acting skills but you said no "Bond is British". So sorry what goes around, comes around "Fury is American". lol

Actually my first pick for Nick Fury would have been Bruce Willis but yeah Kurt would be a good one. Sadly the ultimate guy to play Nick Fury hands down would be the one and only Lee Marvin with Clint Eastwood (minus 30 years) a close second.

I'm actually nervous about Sam Jackson as Nick Fury. It seems to scream The Ultimates more so than The Avengers. The Ultimates are fine, but it is just too politically motivated, and celebrity based. The Ultimates invade Iraq. They discuss who's going to play them in a movie. Hulk wants to smash Freddie Prinze Jnr. All funny and enjoyable. But not what I want to see. I want some old fashioned Super heroics. Alien Planets, Giant Monsters. Gods. Atlantis. All that fan boy stuff. 🙂

I actually meant that because its so 'US of A' he can't do it, not that it shouldn't be held against him.

Thats why I presented Kurt. I think he would be great actually.

I think thats what annoys me about Heroes.

I like a bit of story, but when we have mutants with super powers and all that crap, I want big effed up stuff happening.

oh sorry my bad. So no love for Willis?
Tommy Lee Jones might make a good Nick Fury. He's a good actor and has the right kind of grim, weathered look for a man who's survived too many battles. Tom Sellack, maybe, if he could play Fury like a "good ol' boy unless you mess with him" sort of guy. Michael Ironside maybe, or Clancy Brown could do it, but they don't have the kind of name to pull in the viewers.

I could get behind ALL the other names except Tom Selleck - it would be too 'David Hasselhoff' for me
