The long-standing card game Uno is being redesigned to make it more inclusive for all players.
And by 2025 Mattel wants to roll out the inclusive redesign to 90% of all of their games. I never thought about how games like Uno etc were not inclusive and thought this was just another cash grab attempt by latching onto a word and key demographic.
But the inclusiveness of which they speak is making the game more accessible to the more than 300 million people in the world that are colorblind. And it was then that I realized I never once thought how hard it might be for colorblind people to play the game when you have the potential for two, or more, colors to actually look the same.
