The long-standing card game Uno is being redesigned to make it more inclusive for all players.

And by 2025 Mattel wants to roll out the inclusive redesign to 90% of all of their games. I never thought about how games like Uno etc were not inclusive and thought this was just another cash grab attempt by latching onto a word and key demographic.

But the inclusiveness of which they speak is making the game more accessible to the more than 300 million people in the world that are colorblind. And it was then that I realized I never once thought how hard it might be for colorblind people to play the game when you have the potential for two, or more, colors to actually look the same.

Hmm, I never thought of that, either. I don't think the re-design would be too hard. They could just add symbols like stars or triangles for those who can't see the colors.

"Inclusive" has become a rather emotional buzzword, and in this case it is probably the wrong word to use. Other people who are catering to things like this - including the partially sighted - use "accessible" to define what they are doing.
I agree, 'accessible' is the better word.
Good on them for doing this. Until I read the above, the thought never crossed my mind. The more people who get to play UNO, the better!

Thats cool of them 🙂 better the games start out this way rather than us always having to adapt things to include all the kids. I can never understand why things are made easy for the people who already have it the easiest.

Whatever word is acceptable today probably wont be in 5 years time anyway. So the word doesn't matter, as long as they follow through with the meaning of it.
