Mayor Richard Willkins the Third, Terrifiying?

Terrifying? I wouldn't say so. I would say he is Sinister, though. And by golly, was The Mayor great at balancing between sinister and lovable but I vote Mayor Richard Wilkins III for Nicest Buffyverse character. I wanted the man to be my father. He rarely got angry and always kind of kept things grounded. Great acting and writing for that character.
 
He is also my fav big bad! he is so creepy, with his overt niceness outside of his plan of ascension. and the creepiest thing is that i truly believe he DOES care about the boy scouts haha and all those other things he speaks of... its like showing there is humanity in him, and its scarier to think that someone well, human, could want such massive destruction and unrelenting power that he'd go to such lengths and have no qualms about killing people. He has so much more depth than a lot of the other big bads.
 
He was just always happy. It was kind of weird. Especially when he was doing creepy stuff but he was still smiling and having a sweet-like voice. Weird.

You give me an evil genious cooped up in a cave, okay, but where does he get his resources, what are his connections? If the whole Mayor thing isn't scary enough, he's also a beloved leader. A feared leader will eventually lose his post because nobody wants to live in fear of a leader. But the people of Sunnydale love him, if Buffy earlier had stood up and said "This is a bad man" no one would beleive her. Add in the fact that he's genuine, that when he's taking pictures with boy scouts or giving a lecture on the importance of community, that is a real smile on his face. That's just creepy, in the way that dolls and little children can be creepy, creepy.

My favorite too. I also like Holland Manors who gives off a similar vibe.
 
Psychosis is in the eye of the beholder. The Mayor's aversion to germs, well, check up on the number of humans dying from malaria, cholera, influenza, tuberculosis, etc., each year. Microscopic pathogens kill more of us each year than we do. And so just when you thought you were all that, on your way to your ascension, there you go getting laid waste by beings microscopic. So I loved the Mayor and his aversion to germs. Perhaps the current peanut butter with salmonella circumstance might illustrate the point. And, lastly, yes, there is a certain terror in normalcy.
 
He was kinda like the dad next door who throws barbys for everyone . Always says funny out of date words like neat and dandy and peachy. I like it when people us words I don't hear that often.

He didn't scare me until he was a snake , then he ate Snyder kudos to him. He also took Faith under his wing like a father which I thought was really nice him being evil and all. Maybe turning her into a crazy murder was the wrong way but he was oh so proud and he loved her, which was kinda good for Faith.
 
I loved the Mayor, he was just amazing. I mean, he was oh so evil yet he really cared about Faith. And germs. 😛 He made a really good villian, he was so funny and lovable, yet evil at the same time. He had the same likability factor as the Trio (At least, I think he did) but unlike them he actually WAS evil. He rocked. 😉

I know, right? I think he was the perfect Big Bad, I can't really understand how Glory is considered the number one. In my mind, the Mayor was head & shoulders above Glory...
 
i really like how the mayor is a germ conscious square and pure evil i find it creepy but really funny great character
