I took mashed potatoes out of the freezer, but haven't decided on what I'm having with it

I made masged potatoes, carrots and mac and cheese yesterday.
I just saw a post where someone meal prepped with pre made food! That has never occurred to me! I guess because I thought the point was to save money, but they had purchased premade mash and already roast chicken and then put canned beans/veggies in with a purchased pre made gravy. THAT WOULD BE SO MUCH EASIER THAN MAKING IT ALL FROM SCRATCH!!!!! I am going to have to do the maths on this.... it might make life a LOT easier if it works out cheap enough.

I bought a chicken to roast. Along with some mini Yorkshires, parsnips to roast, stuffing and gravy (pre-made gravy @November 😀). And some part-baked baguettes for chicken and stuffing sandwiches. It is a decent sized chicken, so will probably be freezing some as well as the meals and sandwiches.

Today is Thanksgiving Day in Canada, so we get turkey with stuffing, herbed mashed potatoes, Swiss Chalet gravy, cranberry sauce and vegetable slurry in a squash half-shell. I had a root canal of the upper left front incisor on Thursday, but I am certain that I can eat everything the urchins give me and nothing will be hard enough to bother me. I also picked up chocolate brownie ice cream yesterday so my 36 inch waist pants won't fall off me as easily. Gotta keep your pants on when you go dancing three nights a week and tonight is one of those nights.

I genuinely didnt know you could get pre made gravy! I knew about the instant powder but didnt know you could get a heat and eat one! I saw it today, but alas, could not justify it. When the instant powder was cheaper and is just a stir and serve so almost as easy 😀 probably gona be way nicer than the one I make too! I'm going to put that on the boneless chicken I ordered. And I ordered already chopped frozen beans and carrots. A whole new world for me!

Tonight is leftover pizza 😊

I don't use gravy very often, so getting the pre-made - I got chicken but there were other options like beef - doesn't really cost that much more. And they have refrigerated versions too.
The Swiss Chalet franchise is a Canadian staple that has a tangy gravy that always comes with it. We used it in place of other canned gravy. Most canned gravy is turkey, beef or mushroom and in spite of the name, we generally use mushroom gravy because it goes better with turkey than turkey gravy. It has a flavour that isn't just a continuation of what you are already eating. Between Swiss Chalet and mushroom gravy, mushroom is better.

I have way more chicken left after the first meal than I expected. Partly this is because, for some reason, I cooked it upside down and didn't realise this even whilst carving it. So, there is a lot of breast left. Like most of it. I'd hoped to get at least two main meals and two lunch baguettes from this; think it may be three or four main meals. I have enough Yorkshires, stuffing and possibly parsnips I think, but probably not enough gravy.

Sad, the boneless chicken wasnt as nice as hoped. Rolled turkey roast is nicer and goes further. I did like the instant gravy, but I will only get about 8 serves from a jar of it so it is a lot more expensive. It might still be worth it, considering I use butter in all of my gravy's and sauces and thats expensive now too. And it probably has way less calories than what I make. Maybe I should look for instant white sauce and instant cheese sauce powder too.

I froze some of the chicken but probably wont get it again, because there will be a little waste from it too. Im sick of it now and its too late to freeze the one serve that is left.

Neighbour gave me some eggs and I should make a quiche but I dont really want one so I should just make it for him but he's going away and wont need to eat it either. The eggs wont last much longer.

Made a vanilla slice and have been living off that to avoid eating the chicken.

I got two meals and a baguette's worth of chicken from the roast, and the same again which I froze. I think I bought a bigger chicken this time, large rather than medium because it was only slightly more expensive, and bigger chickens do get you more meat.

I want mashy tatos tonight. I also have some pumpkin and sweet potato to cook up this week, the shop gave me more than I ordered.

My neighbour gave me some broadbeans from his garden so I want to try and do another broadbean and sundried tomato dip.

I made a tuna bake with cottage cheese yesterday and froze it. Then restocked my tuna bake supplies today. Been in the mood for that sort of comfort meal.

Still got 3 BIG serves of thai green curry in the freezer. And now also 2 bags of that premade cauli cheese. Also got some easy taco and enchilada kits. I really am set for a while! Although will probably need at least one more city run before summer holidays.
