misdirection in Buffyverse

Dawn and Amanda both could be "sits". Xander pointed out that the Bringers can not "see". so, if there were two girls in the room (Dawn was behind the table) how would they know which one is the "sit"? They wouldn't, which might explain for they're hesitation, in killing Amanda. Xander also pointed out that the "Seer" did not have a name or address for the potential. I believe it might be "Dawn", because if Dawn was made, and is mystical, it would be harder for them to find her, cause she the one that doesn't belong, in Buffy's dimensions.

Note: I do not trust Amanda.

I like the "Amanda's an incoherent flake and is either pacing back and forth or wandering in circles" theory, myself.

Lol, yeah, it's amazing the whole episode was about a girl who's as annoyingly off-putting as Amanda. She's a total ninny, which actually makes all the plot weirdness sort of easier to swallow. Because, you know, ninnies do weird things.

Maybe you'll allow us to determine how "deep" into the show we get--is that okay? This is precisely what the board is here for. Someone made a thread about something very specific for an episode. It's clear, it's labeled, and now we're talking about it. Not to be rude, but maybe when people want to discuss things, you can just let them use the board as it was intended. If you think the thread is too specific, I understand, but there are plenty of other threads here, okay?

Not a problem, I stand corrected.

Next thing we know someone's going to be posting physic's equations to explain it. Give it a rest

lol...i think buffy is one show that can't use physics because in the show....it's fairly easy to use a wrecking ball to hit a moving target with a wall obstructing xander's vision...

hahaa...another person that thinks people go too deep...welcome aboard...

Good point.

Besides all this however, Dawn doesn't need to be a SIT to be special.

As near as i can imagine Dawn is most probably very difficult to kill, unless her death is psycho-sematic. She is the Key. The key is a force of energy that has been around for millenia. The Dawn persona is a a tangible illusion and nothing more. It seems that she can affect the world in very real ways, but that doesn't change the fact that if Buffy goes all transic on us again she will see right through Dawn and perhaps even see a bit of that green energy force underneath. The illusion seems real, but it is in the end merely an illusion. Throw a bullet through a green ball of energy masqueraded by an illusion and what do you get? You get a ball of energy and an illusion with a few holes in it (excuse the pun).

Of course this isn't really a classical illusion, in the sense that her blood is Buffy's blood, and when she walks it leaves footprints, and when she slashes her arms they bleed. Her illusion seems fully functional. Perhaps all of reliatiy is an illusion of the same sort, and Dawn merely has origins beyond it. Wouldn't put it by the monks to understand a bit about this existentialism, but it's irrelevant to us anyway. The bottom line is that Dawn's being transcends the illusion, although her personality may not. With the breaking of her illusion she may very well lose her identity, but certainly not her life.

Just something to think about anyway...

*points up* i like you, you make me use my brain

oh my god that has annoyed me for so long, im glad someone else has issues with it

beh who cares how deep into something we go, the more time i can waste/use up on these boards thalking about utterly unuseful stuff the less time i spend on uni work - go my priorities!

i dont trust amanda i think dawnie should be tringto find out who she is be it key girl/slayer in training/regular jane so she can stop with the wondering

also! misdirection is what keep sus watching, cause if we know wahts gonna happen, really whats the point?

i'm glad i wasn't the only one to think that was a tad impossible...but for a show that has monsters and androids...its not to farfetched...i wish dawn and xander would get powers....cause that would make them impact players...

Dawn, maybe, but she allready is the Key. But Xander, no, he is the Zeppo, his powers are not supernatural, he is special in his own way! I like it that way!
