BTVS: Tabula Rasa (not a fan)

The more I watch "Tabula Rasa" the less I like it; the premise grosses me out, the literal loan shark makes me cringe, and I just don't think the episode is nearly as insightful as it wants me to believe it is.

It's hard not to compare Spin the Bottle and it does what Tabula Rasa tried to do but so much better. Its a freaking riot. I'm cracking up the entire time. Mostly because of Wesley who is hilarious. I'm a big fan of Alexis Denisof's comedic acting. GWBG is one of my all time favorite episodes.

Yeah but TR doesn't have a character as annoying as Connor ruining the flow😛 I like both episodes, but still think the Buffy episode is the better one.

Im not a fan of Family, but it doesnt seem as hyped as Amends. Most of the highly rated Angel eps, I enjoy.

On imdb, Release and Cavalry are each rated 9.0, very high for an episode. Although they are part of a great arc, they are a huge step down from Soulless, Salvage, and Orpheus, so I'd say they're overrated because they're surrounded with such high quality.

Thats a really good point! I agree. Maybe it adds to the affect of the show, the overall arc. Does planning episodes this way add to the intensity?

OMWF only because Spike spent the ep throwing a violent murderous tantrum and then got to save the life and got to kiss the woman he called a "bitch" and said multiple times he hopes she dies horribly. And the Tillow sex is ruined knowing Willow was controlling Tara's mind in a Warren & Katrina situation. Giles sings great but his whole song is about having to leave so Buffy can grow up when the truth was she'd been making adult decisions and proved she could take care of herself and others since high school and her current indecision was due to suicidal depression and PTSD (her mom just died, her friends put her in a mountain of debt, she was shellshocked being in corporeal form). Dawn was complaining about not being noticed when the entire s5 arc was about her and it'd only been THREE WEEKS since her sister was resurrected (it happened mid October and OMWF took place a week after Halloween).

Him is my least favourite Buffy episode, but I guess it was never rated particularly high.
