So, as I sit here listening to the score of Fellowship of the Ring, I wonder how many people on here enjoying listening to soundtracks/scores from films or shows or video games etc? Why do you like them/why not? What are your favourite soundtracks to listen to?

Right now, since I'm really into SPN, the soundtrack is my favorite one to listen to. All the 80's classic rock songs and Carry On My Wayward Son 😀
I usually like soundtracks in TV shows, less in movies. In most movies I'll like 1 or 2 of the songs, rarely more. As for the score albums, those I just don't like. The music goes with the movie, but alone I just don't find it appealing.
Else than SPN, I have 2 BtVS albums (radio Sunnydale S7 and OMWF) and lots of songs from Glee (I don't buy the cds, for I think it would take way too much place on my shelves), Vampire Diaries and Pretty Little Liars.

I LOVE movie scores!
My favorite composer is John Williams. He composed most of my favorite soundtracks, for example Jurassic Park and The Lost World (my favorites) or Raiders of the Lost Ark.
I don't know why I like that kind of music so much. I love the sound of symphonic orchestras, but stuff like Mozart or Beethoven doesn't have that certain something.
Film music is way more exciting and has often more beautiful melodies, in my opinion.
But I also like the soundtracks of movies that haven't been written for the movie but already existed.
A good example is the music of Quentin Tarantino's movies. I don't know how he does it, but he has the greatest songs in his movies!
His movie Jackie Brown also introduced me to one of my favorite singers, Bobby Womack:

It has recently been announced that Bobby has cancer. I hope he recovers well! 🙁

I'm the same, I think it's because when I'm listening to the score it kind of takes me back to the movie? And if I really enjoyed the movie or whatever it's from I get a bit more into it!
Also, I'll have to look into John Williams because I liked the soundtracks from those films but never really looked into getting them, so perhaps I should!
Some of my favourites are from the Lord of The Rings, Pirates of the Caribbean, Sunshine, Buffy, Doctor Who... I also love quite a few from video games such as music from the Final Fantasy series and Assassin's Creed.

What sucks though is when you accidentally fall asleep with your iPod on and you're listening to soundtracks and he music suddenly gets all dramatic and loud and scares the crap outta you!
At the minute I'm also really into the Hunger Games score. I've not seen it yet but it's getting me hyped up for it! Same with the Game of Thrones score since it's nearly time for series 2!

One time I was reading the novel Jurassic Park by Michael Crichton and was listening to the score of The Lost World which is sometimes more like a horror movie score with lots of high-pitched noises etc.
The scene in the book was not at all thrilling, but the music suddenly got suspenseful and loud and I began to read faster and faster 😱
It was so weird, because it was all because of the music. Really fascinating!
I love soundtracks! Tv/movies... whatever, I'll probably buy it! 🙂
My absolute favorite score is Clint Mansell "The Fountain", I don't even like the movie but the music is so wonderful. I also love his score for "300", I got some other score cds too but these are my favorites.
Other soundtracks, hm well I have the one from Cruel Intentions, which is great, also have I know what you did last summer and the Buffy soundtracks. Oh and Angel, that score is also really great. I want the Buffy score soundtrack and the one for Eyes Wide Shut next but haven't gotten around to getting it yet 🙂

I listen to movie soundtracks a lot, Tarantino films always have great soundtracks, Kill Bill, Death Proof, Basterds.. Another favorite soundtrack is from Snatch which is amazing.
And also Drive, Phenomena, The Informers and uhm.. Sucker Punch.

I've not really listened to TES soundtracks (I'm assuming TES is The Elder Scrolls right? Sorry I'm a noob to those games, Skyrim was my first!) but yeah I love the music in Skyrim. I leave the start menu on so I can hear the music before I actually start playing it 😀 But I never thought of getting the soundtrack apart from for that one song. (I had a little obsession with just that track for a while!) It's really epic though! Makes me feel like I should be off adventuring! 😀

I really enjoy TV and movie soundtracks. Recently my favorites have been: the Twilight soundtracks, The OC mix's, Where The Wild This Are, Almost Famous, 8 mile, Dirty Dancing, and (during the summer especially) The Lords of Dogtown.

I actually love movie soundtracks, I've found most of my music on my iPod from movies I've seen.
I listen to scores and soundtracks all the time. I listen to the Harry Potter soundtracks all the time. I spend a huge amount of time working outside of work, (gotta love being a teacher!) and the HP soundtracks always accompany. I particularly love Obliviate from the opening of Deathly Hallows Pt. I and Harry and Ginny from The Half-Blood Prince.
I also really love the Titanic soundtrack (Celine Dion excluded!) and the score from The Lion King.
My music collection has increased considerably thanks to One Tree Hill because the music they choose is amazing! I tend to find the song on an episode and then fall in love with the whole band like I did with Wakey!Wakey!, The Honorary Title, Lifehouse, Gavin DeGraw, The Wreckers...the list goes on. And on.
The Dawson Creek soundtracks are pretty darn amazing too! Oh and Dexter - gotta love some Cuban Jazz!

I Know What You Did Last Summer is great - Clumsy by Our Lady Peace and Waterfall by the Din Pedals are awesome!
