MTV and Logo to Air Buffy Reruns in January

Cool! This could be a nice work around to my whole "not watching the DVDs out of sequence". I don't really care for MTV, but even when I wasn't a huge Buffy fan (aka: 2 years ago) I always wondered why it wasn't in reruns. It used to air a lot, I think on FX--I'd catch little bits here and there. Anyway this could be pretty cool. I'm surprised a little bit that it'll be on LOGO though; mainly because I've never heard of LOGO. I'm assuming it's a Dish or premium channel? MTV is pretty big, but I almost wish the reruns would be on TNT, CW, etc.

Personally, I might opt for a Joss cartoon series over anything else. I have three reasons for this:
1.) James & David most likely wouldn't want to/be able to portray 27 year old characters at this point.

2.) Animated media such as that produced by Bruce Timm shows that the medium can be excellent (note: Boreanaz, Marsters, Fillion, NPH and Baldwin have worked with Timm in his animated productions with critical acclaim).

3.) Even if we only got 2-3 seasons of a Buffyverse (canon) animated series, we'd still have 100x more content than from a feature film.

All of this is assuming we could get the actors to reprise their roles... And that actually does seem like something MTV would go for and something Marster & Boreanaz would be willing to do. I think if it looked like it had a shot, we'd be guaranteed all of the cast except SMG, because even as busy as Alyson & David are I think they'd find time for high-profile voice work.

Personally I don't really see any of those three being on board with it. Maybe I'm wrong. SMG has done alot of voice work for Robot Chicken so I don't think she would be as adverse to it as she would have been during the last 6 years. Plus she has a baby now. It would be a handy way to work and still focus on her daughter.

In saying all of this I don't still believe we will see or hear these actors in these roles again.

I could see David being reluctant, but I think James would love to do it. Sure he may have just starred in a $100million movie, but Marsters really seems to love the Spike character.

Regarding the prospect of bringing Spike back, Marsters said he'd be on board even now if Joss' people could make him look believably un-aged via lighting, make-up and/or CGI.

I think as SMG's career has continued to not take off into the stratasphere she has become more and more appreciative for her role as Buffy and the fan base it has created for her. I see her being a Hell of a lot more open to any further ventures then she has ever been.

Hannigan continues to be successful but she is also a close friend of Joss's so that swings her in favour. If timing and schedules worked out.

Marsters, as you said, has made it clear where he stands. He wants more Spike. Simple as that.

Nicky Brendon and Antony Head have also, recently, both said they would be in continuing to tell the story.

Boreanaz is the one that gets me. He has done alot to distance himself from his Whedon work. However, recently he has acknowledged how lucky he is to have the Angel fans and also spoke about the show, which he really never does. I still think he wouldn't be inclined to go back.

Even with all of this I have kind of resigned myself to the reality that if Buffy as we know her does come back it won't be with "our" cast. I'm kinda getting ok with that though. The comics have really helped with the whole appreciating the character rather than the actor.

20 years time don't be surprised if we see a Buffy remake.

Yep! I used to watch them when I was preg with my second daughter and didn't feel like getting out of bed to put in a DVD. LOL
Buffy back on TV!

Been a while, but Buffy repeats are back! LOGO, a channel with mostly gay shows, is having a New Years marathon of BtVS. :cheering:
 
I have to work today, so I can't watch it.
My mom is gonna Tivo it.
This is so great, Buffy and Power Rangers are back on TV!!

SciFi UK and SyFy USA I'm sure show different things... SyFy USA doesn't show Buffy anymore. Although I think Angel is still on TBS which is kind of interesting.

Sometimes I get excited if I'm flipping thru channels & see a Buffy/Angel/Firefly eppy on. Then I remember: "I don't care. I have it alllll on DVD." 😀

(But "YAY!" for those of you who don't! - and yay because it will probably create even MORE Whedon fans!!!)
 
I don't know if it's been mentioned in here because I didn't read the other posts, but Buffy is being shown now weeknights at 6PM and every night at 3AM and 4AM on LOGO.

Only thing I don't like is that they chopped parts out. Not important parts, but any die-hard fan can notice. Last night they showed Becoming Part 1 & 2. When Buffy was running when Angel informs her that it was a trap, she hops over a bench towards the end. In the LOGO channel version there is no bench jumping, as well as Drusilla never says 'be in me.'

I noticed. They also cut the parts out where Buffy drops her pencil. In the OG version she drops it once, says she's having Deja Vu and drops it again. Also when Buffy & Spike are discussing battle plans they mention Kendra being killed and Joyce says "Did she explode like that man out there?" lol it was also cut.

I was like "Aw, don't cut stuff out!" 😛

yeah i caught the pencil dropping part, but not the kendra part. good call.
