I went to weight room the other day with my friend Nick. There's this thing where you can lift weight with your feet. Leg presses I think they're called, I can't remember. Well, my first time doing it (yesterday) I lifted 410 pounds. That was a biiig mistake. It seems like I've pulled every muscle in my legs. If I wear shorts, it looks like someone kicked my knees further into my leg because all the muscle around my knees are swelled. Someone is gunna take me to the doctor tonight, because my parents fear I might have torn something, but that's going to be later tonight. My dad has a meeting, my mom is working in the ER, and my brother has to work too. So, I'm going to have to suffer through the rest of the day.

Pain killers and asprin and all that stuff don't seem to be working, so does anyone out there know how to relief pain in your leg muscles?

Sorry to hear that - my recommendation would be aspirin, paracetamol or ibuprofen but no more than the recommended dosage unless prescribed and don't mix 'em up. Try a warm bath if the pills don't have much effect - that sometimes has a soothing effect. Otherwise I think you may have to suffer a bit for a few hours - sorry man.

I'd do that now, but I'm in school. I'll try that when I get home. They've hurt since last night and I'm beginning to get annoyed. Hannah keeps telling me to fall down, which I know I'm going to soon. If I fall down I'll get lots of attention and put in a wheel chair! I could put a sign on it and stuff. EHEHEHE. Ok, well, thanks for the advice/suggestions.

Poor you..hot/warm bath might not be the best idea..You'd better just use a cloth..pour some warm but not hot water on it and keep it on your knees for about 20 mins..That always helped me when I had problems after training sessions..

Well there's ice of course:

Ahh"¦Ice massage for pain relief

An ice massage is quick, free, easy to do, and it can provide significant pain relief for many types of back pain. In a world of sophisticated medical care, a simple ice massage can still be one of the more effective, proven methods to treat a sore back or neck.

Most episodes of back pain are caused by muscle strain. The large paired muscles in the low back (erector spinae) help hold up the spine, and with an injury the muscles can become inflamed and spasm, causing low back pain and significant stiffness.

Common causes of muscle strain of the large back muscles include:

*

A sudden movement
*

An awkward fall
*

Lifting a heavy object (using the back muscles)
*

A sports injury

While it sounds like a simple injury, a muscle strain can create a surprising amount of pain. In fact, this type of injury is one of the most common reasons people go to the emergency room. However, not much can be done for a strained back muscle except for rest (e.g. for up to two days), pain relief medications, and ice and/or heat application. This article discusses how and to apply ice for quick relief of back pain caused by muscle strain.

How ice provides pain relief
Ice can help provide relief for back pain in a number of ways, including:

*

Ice application slows the inflammation and swelling that occurs after injury. Most back pain is accompanied by some type of inflammation, and addressing the inflammation helps reduce the pain.
*

Numbs sore tissues (providing pain relief like a local anesthetic)
*

Slows the nerve impulses in the area, which interrupts the pain-spasm reaction between the nerves
*

Decreases tissue damage

Ice is most effective if it is applied soon after the injury occurs. The cold makes the veins in the tissue contract, reducing circulation. Once the cold is removed, the veins overcompensate and dilate and blood rushes into the area. The blood brings with it the necessary nutrients to allow the injured back muscles, ligaments and tendons to heal.

As with all pain relief treatments, there are some cautions with ice. Never apply ice directly to the skin. Instead, be sure that there is a protective barrier between the ice and skin, such as a towel. Additionally, ice should also not be used for patients who have rheumatoid arthritis, Raynaud's Syndrome, cold allergic conditions, paralysis, or areas of impaired sensation.

I've heard Glucosamine recommended if the pain persists. It's also used by arthritis sufferers.

Then there's physical therapy:

You're muscle rips sound like they might be serious though with the excessive swelling and all. If I were you I'd consider seeing a doctor. I mean let's face it, when it comes to dope, he's got the good stuff.

Ok, I'm home now, so I'm probably gunna start doing all this stuff now. Thanks for the tips and what not, I'll let you know how it goes.

My friends care, of course. I mean, Bovee offered to carry me down the stairs at school lol. And Hannah is making me soup..although I'm not sick. It's just that I'm not the first thing on my parents agenda. Toria gave me asprin during school, so I fought through the day.

what you want to do is fix yourself some food and they get back carry a tray in oh with a big drunk and callapse on the most expensive thing you can find!

that'll up you on the priority stakes!

or atleast show if your wanted 😉

Wow that's terrible! If you can't get to the hospital you could try an anti-inflammatory or a muscle relaxer. But be careful with mixing meds ...make sure there's nothing left from what you've taken earlier.

I used one of those cold things. We have them in the house because my Mom gets them at the ER. I made the mistake of putting it on one of my knees in bed and then I fell asleep. Things do feel a little better though.

Yikes...410 lbs??? heh...well I read in a runner's mag that for muscle soreness (now your pain is probably much to severe for this, but its worth a shot!) pour some ice in a bath, then just soak for 5-10 minutes i think...personally this wouldn't be my first option lol

It's to cold to take a cold bath, LoL. I guess it's worse a try though. I'll do anything to try to make it go away, all you heard was me cursing all day when I have to get up or sit down.

Ouch...I have a weight room problem too. My friend and I were finished w/ our workouts in p.e and we were using a machine called calf extention (or raises), I think. And it weighs your shoulders down while u go your toes. We were messing around and put it on 300lbs. We both tried really hard to lift it, but no luck. Then we moved it to 200lbs and I got about 5 raises in and when I was done my back hurt so bad. A week later, my back still hurts. I hope I didnt kill it.

All of the suggestions I had hoped to offer have already been suggested. I hope you feel better though, and now you probably do, as it's late evening and you've hopefully seen a doctor already?

All the suggestions are good. When I get beat up playing hockey, the best thing for the muscles is ibuprofen (Advil) 200mg, or, if I have it, Naprosyn SR 750mg (but this is a prescription drug). Alternating hot and cold packs, 20 minutes on/ 20 minutes off, to the muscles helps, but it sounds like you've gone a bit beyond an overworked muscle...you probably have a strain. That's a tear in the muscle itself, or the spot where it connects with the ligaments that attach to the bones...this will definitely need medical attention and a course of anti-inflammatories (Naprosyn). I also recommend massage therapy from a Registered Massage Therapist (not the other type we hear about). These people go to school for 2yrs to learn how to do a proper theraputic massage. It won't be too pleasant the first time, in fact it will probably hurt! I recommend this because a couple of years ago I tore up my rotator cuff (shoulder) playing hockey. I started with physical therapy, but it just wasn't getting better, so the therapist suggested an RMT along with her therapy sessions...it was great, and in 6 weeks my shoulder was almost back to normal! It should take a bit less time for you, unless you've really badly strained the muscle...hope you feel better soon, PS!

I took that ibuprofen stuff from my friend Toria yesterday, it helped for a few hours. Nope. I haven't been to the doctors yet. My friend is planning on driving by later today and taking me there myself. There's gunna be a problem though, because I have my medical ID cards, but doctors can't treat someone with out parental consent, so I'll probably have to get a note or something. Hannah spent all day and last night with me, so she's my supporter through all this lol. Thanks for the get well wishes, but things are gunna get worse today if anything. We do this thing in gym every monday and thursday. Aerobics. First you start off with a 5 minute jog. Then you go into fast pace calistetics like you'd see in a Richard Simons video. Then you jog for another 5 minutes. THat's probably going to kill me. It's not like I can sit out because I'd have to make up gym and that's 40 laps around the gym. If my legs are in bad shape anyway, running 40 laps will not be fun either. I'll keep you guys posted.

I would have to go with the whole hot bath thing! I'm really into aromatherapy!

These are all the essential oils you could use for muscle aches! (The best thing would be to put 2-3 drops in a hot bath!)

Ylang Ylang, Cananga odorata: Helps one to relax, and can reduce muscle tension. Good antidepressant.

Peppermint, Mentha piperita: Useful in treating headaches, muscle aches, digestive disorders such as slow digestion, indigestion, and flatulence.

Clary Sage, Salvia sclarea: Natural pain killer, helpful in treating muscular aches and pains. Very relaxing, and can help with insomnia. Also very helpful in balancing hormones.

Roman Chamomile, Anthemus nobilis: Very relaxing, and can help with sleeplessness and anxiety. Also good for muscle aches and tension. Useful in treating wounds and infection.

Rosemary, Rosmarinus officinalis: Very stimulating and uplifting, good to help mental stimulation as well as to stimulate the immune system. Very good for muscle aches and tension. Stimulating to the digestive system.

Hope this helps and you feel better soon! 🙂

On the way home I'll see if my friend can run me to a store and see if I can buy those stuff. I can buy those at a drug store, right?
