N4H's Fanfic to Art Challenge. :D

Ego has never been a problem for me. By that I mean I've got lots to spare. 🙂

I was reading Foi's thread here in the Art forum requesting a challenge, and it got me to thinking...I should use this as a clever ploy to convince her to do a banner for me which would use the themes of my own personal fanfics to create a banner from which I could link to said fics.

Then I thought, "Wait a minute. I've got 4 fics. I should contact 4 artists". Immediately 4 artists came to mind who based on my own self-grandiose opinion of my story telling ability, would fit my stories like a glove - I thought.

So I contacted Foi, EDB, Xander, and Black Eye Guy. I conspired. I lied. I offered fame, with a side of fortune. I threatened to hold my breath until I turned blue if they wouldn't comply, and create for me beautiful art based on my silly little stories. My attack was relentless, and eventually they complied. They had no choice, but to comply. :hehe:

What I'm thinking now is I want to show off the results of my nefarious scheme, taking full credit for the wonderful results, even though if you strapped me to a chair and threatened me with a hot poker, I'd have to admit I had nothing whatsoever to do with the actual art.

I know. It's like...you know how sometimes when they talk about a really good actor they say, "they could read the telephone book, and make it sound interesting"? I think a good digital artist can be like that too.

And Xander and Black Eye Guy's challenges are on the way. I'm really anxious to see how they choose to make fanfic look like it's worth reading also. : scotty :

Great idea n4h. Perhaps some of our talented artists could try some illustrations for other members' fanfics...if the writers are willing. I wouldn't mind seeing some art to accompany my haiku-based fic in TOTS...in another thread though...I don't want to hijack this one 🙂

edit - I'm thinking more of illustrations rather than banners btw...go nuts inna comic book stylee 🙂

Oh wait Pointy, I think I'm starting to get what you're talking about. Like you have your Haiku then illustrations around it, and it's all one JPEG poster, right? Or it could be an HTML page. That would be wild.

Anime would be good...I had in mind something like Neil Gaiman and Yoshitaka Amano did with the Sandman story "The Dream Hunters".

I haven't sketched anything on paper in forever, I've gotten lazy using PS I guess - mind you, I wouldn't be able to do that kind of style anyway, even if I could still sketch at all. 😉

Hope someone takes you up on it though Mr.P - would love to see what they would do! 🙂

Oh and an update on the 2 to come. Xander contacted me with the encouragement he has been struck by a lightning bolt of inspiration. 🙂 BEG is working tirelessly away in deep, dark seclusion, and I don't want to disturb genius, (well I do, but I won't) so I leave him alone. 😀

EDB made me that N4H one some time ago. She made me another one that was even funnier. It won a BB award. It concerned Angel's cancellation, and took jabs at the WB. Damn though. I lost that one between computer crashes somehow.

Doesn't mean much though ^_^ I'll keep mulling it over, maybe do some inital ideas and stuff but my next complete day off is Friday (doesn't mean it'll be done then, I just want sympathy.

Do you know I don't even remember making that one 'lol' I do remember the other one - didn't it feature the WB logo & Smile Time Puppets or something? I can't remember...

I miss my Smile Time banner. Remember it had the Smile Time puppets, and it looked like a professional WB commercial banner. It said something like "Smile Time The Series... Coming this fall from the company that has been rotting your minds with inferior drek for over 5 years." Remember... we fans were all mad at them at the time for cancelling Angel?

Naturally, I love it, but I worry anyone who isn't me might think I ruined BEG's original creation. So I offer up both to give y'all the opportunity to rip a strip off me for tampering with the art. 🙂
