Hooooooooooooooooooooly shit.

The next 13 episodes are going to blow my mind. This season has been extraordinarily epic.

Just mind blowing.
 
I noticed something in this epi. When Spike and Buffy are together, Spike says that she keeps him alive because she likes men that hurt her. She needs the anger to be the slayer. Buffy says that she doesn't hate like that anymore.

But, in S2 episode What's my Line pt 2 when Buffy brought Kendra to her room and was talking to her about their fight, saying how she (Buffy) would've won, Buffy specifically said:

"You feel it, right? How the anger gives you fire? A Slayer needs that."

Thoughts?
 
"Never Leave Me" is one of my favorite eps from Season 7. So much is revealed in this episode, and it makes us realize the magnitude of the situation the Scoobies are in. Wonderful. I remember my jaw dropping open and me literally almost leaping out of my seat when
the Watchers' Council blew up at the end
. I was literally like :buble_eye
 
^^agreed it was a shocker. V.good ep this was, amazing scene when Spike busts out of his chair and pulls Andrew through the wall.
 
That scene was amazing... I went from laughing at Anya's interrogation techniques to gasping at Spike busting through the wall at Andrew!

I've been trying to find the original article to add here, but it's lost out there in the net forever, I'm afraid. Anyhow. from what I remember of it...

The fire that Buffy is referring to in her conversation with Kendra in Season 2 is, indeed, what set her apart from the average Slayer. Her death at the end of Season 5, however, figuratively extinguished that fire, hence the opening song, "Going Through The Motions," at the beginning of "Once More With Feeling," and, even more specifically, "I Want The Fire Back," later in that episode. From the beginning of Season 6 until the finale of Season 7, Buffy was slowly in the process of returning to the winner's attitude that she had exhibited in the earlier seasons, culminating in the series finale when she finally admits that she loves Spike. The scene in which their hands literally burst into flame without actually burning was Spike's final gift to her. He literally gave Buffy back her fire.

It's a pretty good explanation, even though we all know that, no matter what Buffy might feel for Spike, she will always love Angel the most.

I really had a smile on my face with Anya interrogating Andrew and Xander pretending to keep her off him!!!:lmao: The other "interrogator" I really liked was Harm in season 5 of Angel with that bitchy brat, Eve!

About hate/anger and the Slayer power. I think Buffy was referring to her situation in season 6 where she hated herself above all else and then she hated life and the world! Anger stimulates the slayer. It makes her be on fire. But not hate. Buffy doesn't hate, she fights and she knows when an enemy needs killing or ass-kicking.

I don't really understand what kind of fire Spike gave her back.Cause in s6 I don't see any fire. I see dark. In s7 maybe with his support she was able to remember who she really is.

The fire was metaphorically given back in Season 7 when Buffy and Spike held hande in those last moments in the hellmouth

Nice catch! Gotta love that continuity. What gave Kendra the "fire" might not necessarily work in the same way for Buffy, though. She was "training" Kendra, and might have just been saying what Giles told her.

I think there were some truth to Spikes words, though. Spike has always been known as the "voice of reason" on the show. In "Never Leave Me" I think that Buffy wanted to believe that she didn't need that anger anymore to fight, just to site Spike. He thought he could give her that fire by making her angry, and I guess she doesn't want to admit she needs him like that anymore (like she did in Season 6.) That's my guess. Also, the anger comes from the hatred of the vampires. Since Buffy at this point doesn't see things as black and white, maybe she no longer hates them like she used too.

I think at this point Buffy has come to a kind of peace, probably due to Spike in part. It's hard to sustain hate for so long.
