Aug. 20 - Day 20: Favorite episode/scene that showcases Buffy and Angel’s ability to work as a team?

It's partly teamwork. But I liked the scene in Chosen. Just as Buffy's being overwhelmed, Angel makes a timely save. But his work is done there. He helped Buffy when she needed it, but stepped aside when Buffy wanted to finish him off herself, feeling she needed to. Understanding that Buffy is strong, Angel stands back to admire her work, noting that Caleb is gonna lose. Buffy can count on Angel to be there for her, but also count on him to respect her strength & competence.

I think it's a part of team work when you know one another so well, you can understand what the other does or doesn't need at the time and act accordingly with what's appropriate.

Aug. 19 - Day 19: Favorite “I love you” (or romantic declaration in general)

I love that we have so many options to chose from! They declare their love for one another to each other and to others quite often. I’d say it’s hard for me not to choose Buffy’s Selfless speech in which she unequivocally puts to rest all of those who say what Buffy and Angel had was just mere “puppy” love or some diminutive description like that. But ultimately I’m a sucker for the first time Angel says it here:

There is a vulnerability in Angel finally admitting his feelings, after fighting them, after we saw him try and fail to tell her at the docks. It is the first time he has ever been in love and this is new to him. And when DB delivers this line, his voice hitches at the end when he says “stop” so the delivery of the line just oozes with authenticity. It’s such a perfectly intimate moment. It’s framed so lovely. And it’s iconic! So many beautiful declarations come later but this first one is very special and it is certainly a favorite.

The graveyard fight in 'Choices' is probably my favourite individual scene, with the 'Sorry honey!/'That's okay' and the old married couple-style argument. And it is their peak-teamwork point of the season. But for an episode I really like 'Lovers' Walk':

They're in the midst of relationship issues and they still instinctively manage to coordinate. I like how even here Buffy issues orders and Angel obeys:

I want Buffy to be the one in Angel's dream sequence when he loses his soul.
I also really wanted Buffy to make an appearance in NFA

He truly understands her. He makes her feel like she can be herself and allows her to be vulnerable without her feeling weak. After the breakup we never see Buffy vulnerable with anyone like that again.

Pretty much the same reason. She truly understands him. She loves him vampface and all. She doesn't care about the curse or any of it, she just loves him for all of him, the good and the bad.

S4/S1- They have the most crossovers and it has IWRY- one of my all time fav Bangel episodes. But, I like s7 for them a lot as well.

Hmm probably Amends. I guess I'm feeling like I want to be gut punched haha. But, it does have a sweet moment at the end.

I love the window kiss. It's just so sweet and innocent and romantic.

I like the dream sequence they share where they have sex and then Angel bites her.

s7 Selfless where Buffy says "I loved him more than I will ever love anything in this life."
And for Angel it's s3 Heartthrob where he says "The woman that I love is dead."
I just love that they love each other after all these years and they shout it out to other people.
But as for them telling each other the first time is pretty great in s2 Surprise.

The way they played Faith was priceless. The first time I was watching this episode, I really thought Angel went bad again.
Buffy played like she was very surprised that he was evil and played scared of him very well. He also played Angelus very well by having to be so mean to her. They def fooled me.

Aug. 12/13 - Day 12/13 : Why do you think Angel/Buffy is a good fit for Buffy/Angel ?

I'm not good to explain why I love something. It's a philosophical question. It's like asking why I like black chocolate and not white chocolate. Is there really a reason ? Do we always need to find explanation to everything ? Can't we just say that we love them just like that ? I know I'm not answering the question but it's because I can't define why I love Bangel, It's an all. I love who they are, the symbolism of their relationship, what It meant for them and how theirs lives changed just because they met each other !

Aug. 14 - Day 14: Favorite season for Bangel post-BtVS Season 3 ?

It's impossible to me to not go with season 5 Buffy/season 2 Angel.The parallels between the story Dangel and Bangel are fascinating for me and I love how it higlights Bangel and show how mature this relationship was, how important Buffy is for Angel and how no other women will have the same importance in his eyes because no one will ever impact him like she did. And of course, the scene in "forever" <3<3

Aug. 15 - Day 15: If you were going to pick any Bangely episode to watch right now, what would it be ?

"Angel" because I want to watch something with drama but with also a good ending. I want to see the innocence of the relationship and there is nothing more pure than the beginning. I want to see Buffy brave enough to offer herself to Angel and him doing nothing because love is stronger than anything ! I want to see that cross burns Angel because love burns inside of the body, it's a fire that shines again and again and as far as Bangel is concerned, I want to believe that fire will never stop shining.

I have to say that I'm all 😱😱😱 when they are doing Tai-Chi. So much sexual tension, add to that David's torso and SMG always beautiful and it makes me hot.

The maturity of the relationship. Bangel is often described as a puppy love, teenager romance, but it's more deepen than that. Buffy isn't a normal girl, she is the slayer. Angel isn't a normal boy, he is a vampire with a soul ! Just for that the relationship shoudn't be judge acording to the standards of the society. Bangel is mature for me, all the sacrifices they made prove that :
- Killing the love of your life is not something you can reduce to nothing by saying that Bangel is only for teenager,
- Angel's sacrifice in "I will remember you" should be see as a man who did the right thing for save the life of the woman he loves,
- Angel breaking up with Buffy is an mature act because he put her happiness before his because in his mind he coudn't offers to her the life she deserved.
- And finally even after the break they are still there for each other : Buffy when she gave to him the Amarra ring, Buffy when she knew Faith attacked Angel, Angel after Joyce's death, Angel when he saved her and hit Caleb.... it only shows that Bangel is a mature relationship. I don't understand how someone can not see that.

That they were a better team than solo warriors. They were excellent together. His wisdom and fighting skills combined with her intuition, different point of views and strengths were the best. Their glue was their love for another. Alone they were miserable or simply not in the best shape they could have been together after resolving that unnecessary argumentation in the sewers. Both are often minimized to an angsty, unstable and unhealthy romance caused by that loophole. But they were so much more. I don't see their romance as a miserable and immature drama. They had differences and obstacles, but hey, who doesn't?

The amount of struggle they had. Some are quick to say it was puppy love HS romance. But they went through much more than that. Dealing with trying to be together despite curses, one worried about depriving the other of a family. Having to give up one another to save the world. Helping each other cope with trauma. And nursing one back to health when they were weak from being in Hell.

True they had cute moments that could seem immature, like Buffy writing Angel on her notebooks. But it was a hard relationship, filled with both needing support - emotional & physical.

I think many can overlook what a complicated & hard relationship it really was. They were not Sniw White & Her Prince

Day 20 ~ Favorite Episode/Scene That Showcases Buffy and Angel's Ability To Work As A Team?
This might seem like a weird answer, but the opening scene of "Helpless" is one of my very favorite Buffy/Angel scenes for this very reason. Nothing particularly significant happens in it, it just opens on what looks like a possible picnic in front of the fireplace at the mansion, and the music is all light and romantic, but then it switches to something much more exciting as we see that Buffy and Angel are training together, and it all culminates with her pretending to stake him with a baguette. It is a largely inconsequential scene, but I think it is a great subtle moment for showing what a good team they make. In a way, this is kind of a nice example of Buffy getting to be both a normal girl, just hanging out with her boyfriend, and the Slayer, with him as the perfect opponent to help her train and practice. I can't really figure out how to articulate why I've always loved this scene so much, but it was the first one that came to mind at this question. It also features this smile from Buffy, as @EarthLogic GIF'd earlier, and how can you deny the love and affection evident in her face here?



Day 21 ~ What Do You Think People Overlook Most About Buffy and Angel's Relationship?
I agree that the maturity and significance of their relationship seems to get disregarded by some people. I just finished listening to the Hellmouthy podcast, and one of the hosts would frequently dismiss their relationship after the fact as being "teen dream" and overdramatic and therefore somehow less important, but I think that is very... well, dismissive. I mean, within the first year of knowing each other they go through more together than most couples ever do, and ultimately come out ever stronger for it. They both make enormous sacrifices for each other on more than one occasion, and the episode "I Will Remember You" shows us that their love literally defies space and time. They are pretty inarguably THE soulmates of the Buffyverse, even if you don't especially 'ship them, so to wave it away as, like, a high school romance almost makes me wonder if they were even watching the same show as me.

Day 21 ~ What Do You Think People Overlook Most About Buffy and Angel's Relationship?
Well, I think everyone explained beautifully about the misinterpretation of their love being a puppy love, because it is most certainly one of the most mature relationships in the entire buffyverse. But, since this one has already been so well explained, I'll say that people overlook just how hot they were for each other and how hot they are together. People tend to love Spuffy because it's all this hot sex.
Well to me Bangel were way hotter together.
Their intimate scenes were tasteful yet so passionate.
While Spuffy sex scenes were cringe-worthy IMO. Sorry but it's not hot to me when one of the partners has an expressionless wishing they were doing something else face. Buffy and Angel were plenty sexy together and they had plenty of passion. I feel like this gets over-looked because of Angel's no sex curse and the fact that their intimate scenes were filmed in the earlier stages of both shows when the audience was younger so more intense sex scenes were probably not the best idea to be showing viewers.

So many good answers to this question! I'm just going to be simple and say: that they made each other happy. Yes, there was a lot of heartache and misery around their relationship, but there were so many good moments too, and neither seemed to be able to find real happiness with anyone else. There was always something missing.

Honestly I had to think a little hard on this because I don't remember that we have so much memorable/good quote coming from the others talking about Bangel. I mean of course they talked about them but it seems to me that none of the scoobies were pro Bangel (or even Pro Spuffy for what matters, but maybe more Pro Briley ?). Willow is definetely the more indulgent and Xander the more hard. Coming from the scoobies nothing came to my mind. BUT coming from Spike I immediatly think at :

Like stated, there wasn't too much there in that regard.Though I do think the Scoobies were Pro-Spuffy, Anti-Bangel.

I guess the closest thing not been said yet was Willow's line about Angel

"You're still the only thing he thinks about." Along with Giles explaining that on Valentine's Day, Angelus performs acts of what he considers affection.

Which debunks another Anti-Bangel argument. That despite being evil, Angelus did still have some kind of twisted affection for Buffy -combating the Spike loved her without a soul bit. If what Spike did was love, the same could be said for Angelus lol Just twisted version of what they consider affection.

What are you two smoking? Willow is totally pro Bangel. Remember, it is Willow, not Buffy, who saves Angel's soul in Becoming. Willow is so invested in Bangel that I often feel she is vicariously exploring dating through Buffy, though she does not use the term vicarious smoochies until Riley comes along. Willow is even more confident in Angel's fidelity than Buffy is and out of hand rejects the possibility that he might betray Buffy for Faith or Cordelia. In Surprise, she tells Buffy to seize the day and sleep with Angel, and though hindsight is a bitch, her intentions was shipper-pure.

Prior to Becoming pt. 2, even Giles is pro Bangel. He is touched by Angel's love for Buffy in S1, he defends their love in the car in Innocence, and he defends Willow's desire to restore him in Becoming.
