Update New (and improved) Board Chat Channel

Then get mIRC! Everyone who has these weird problems seem to use Icechat. 😛

Then again, plenty of Icechat people don't have any problems.

For those people who are using chatzilla here's what to do

When the program opens type in the tool bar at the bottom

1)/server irc.vbirc.net

then in the same tool bar

2)/join [HASHTAG]#buffyboards[/HASHTAG]

And you should be in 🙂

Just thought i write this because it was very confusing whne i first used it and took abit of messing around toget in the chat 🙂
 
I can't connect using chatzilla and the chat link at the top of the page....anyone else having problems!?
 
Yeah, It is with a bit of a shame that we have to say goodbye to our previous hosting provider from Viper Hosting, who has been nothing but awesome for us in the past. But due to changes in his bushiness and the growth of our chat network. Our contract with them has come to an end. This has consequences to our network

The HUB server that we are running and all the LEAF servers connect to, and the Anope Services, that powers the ChanServ and NickServ, is what runs on previous hosting provider connection. And it will be gone.

At the mean time we are trying to get a new account at a new hosting provider, so OUR IRCD MAY SPLIT ON THE HUB CONNECTION - ALL LEAFS WILL BE RUNNING - BUT NOT CONNECTED (for a while) we having our biggest split in the history of our network. Each irc server will split from eachother. We have no alt hub to connect to, so .. you can still see users online, but not as much as before, and you temporary can not identify to your nickname, or register a name or channel.

Yes, we have backups. Everything will be restored to what it was on Jan 2nd, 2009. Our latest backup.

We recommend for the best chat experience, to use irc.wetalksoccer.com or irc.vbirc.org (not .com or .net) so we all connect to one server that we will try our best to keep online at all times. While we try to get irc.vbirc.com back online. If we all focus on irc.vbirc.org then we will be able to see eachother in the rooms.

Our staff will try to be on ALL the ircd, informing everybody about what's going on.
So quick summery:

HUB + ANOPE = TEMPORARY OFFLINE

Causing Split to ALL irc servers.

Every other IRC server is online, but not connected to a hub.

We're fixing that - hopefully within an hour, but could be a day or longer, depending on how things go.

Well, the "wetalksoccor" server is now causing netsplitting the way the old one did, can't get anything but an empty room now.

I don't think that's a netsplit, but I had the same problem. The other server is working fine.
Anyone having problems i just got disconnected! :'( i can't get back in through chatzilla or the boards link!

Hey Guys.

I'm having problems downloading either IceChat or mIRC. I use firefox - should I try it in IE (but I uninstalled so would rather not have to install if I can get away with it).

Every time I click the download link on either page I get the download toolbar for firefox. It downloads it and scans for virus but stops then (when it should be asking me where to save it) & I don't have the "open" link on the download toolbar either.

It sounds like you have Firefox set to always download to a default location. Go to Tools > Options > Main and check Always ask me where to save files.
 
They normally DL to my desktop, but I can't see either of them there. I'll check it later (shopping time now!) because knowing me I changed it by accident.
