Im Gonna Watch It But I Really Dont Know If It Will Be as Good Without Joss. I Love BTVS and i Really Hope They Don't Mess Up The Good Name "Buffy The Vampire Slayer" By Maing a Bad Movie...

Though I do have my doubts about BtVs without Whedon's involvement, I don't think the movie would as bad as so many Buffy fans seem to think. Whedon has said on more then one occasion that the problems with the movie was not the Kuzuis but other people that we would not name, but I always thought he meant the cast that couldn't take the movie seriously. So, I think that they may do a better job with it then most people think, and would probably attract a good cast because of the success both financial and critical of the show.

I wish Joss would be a part of it and have the original cast...

It'll probably be bad, but at least it'll get more people interested in Buffy and most likely get some new fans watching the show and joining BB. 🙂

I haven't heard anything about the new movie in months... I'm starting to wonder if it's going to happen at all now.

As I've said before, too many people are forming opinions about this movie because of their loyalty to the TV show, which, as we all know, wasn't the original Buffy, despite the fact that Joss' baby got screwed royally in the movie version. Let's face it, Sarah, David, James, and the others will never get together and recreate their old roles, and even if they tried, by the time that it actually happened, they would all be too old for the parts.

This (supposedly) upcoming new movie is not going to try and recreate the original story with new actors. "Our" Buffy won't be affected in the least, no more than Weismuller's Tarzan was threatened by the next actor to play the role. No more than John Wayne's Rooster Cogburn was threatened by Jeff Bridges' version of the character. No more than Rathbone's Sherlock Holmes was threatened by Robert Downey jr's version. And O won't even go into Lugosi and Christopher Lee as Dracula.

I hope that the movie is great. The next Star Wars. That will bring more interest in the character in general, which will result in the Sunnydale crew coming back into the spotlight. On the other hand, if the new movie is a flop, we can THEN all stand back and smugly say, "I told you so. Now, if you want to see what Buffy's REALLY about..." and we end up, once more, with more people interested in the characters and the story.

Let's just wait and see how it pans out.

(And, by the way, I've gotten several people to watch Wayne's "True Grit" since the new movie came out, and they all agree, the Duke's belly is more convincing than Bridges' grubbiness.)

I just don't want it to impact OUR merchandise and stuff...
^^^Agreed. I saw the original BtVS movie and it didn't ruin the series for me. I adored the movie and also the series. Hopefully this new reboot will do the same. If not, we still have 8 seasons of Buffy greatness to stand upon.

I'm excited for this reboot. I feel Buffy is a story that can be applied to any generation, and if handled properly can be an amazing movie. The Sarah Michelle Gellar Era is over, the actors are all much older, I would love to see a new interpretation of the story...but it needs to have Joss though, that's what I feel is this reboot's biggest mistake.

That's been my only real concern
Any thoughts on Jennifer Lawrence as Buffy? She seems to be building a bit of a career in action films, with X-Men First Class and the upcoming The Hunger Games. Plus, we know she has the acting chops, having been nominated for Best Actress earlier this year for Winter's Bone.

First off if Alexander was Spike and Josh Angel I would see that movie in a heartbeat most likely.

Gary would be good as Giles as would Dianne as Joyce. I like Amber as well watched her in Hidden Palms. Did anyone else notice they put half the social network cast?

You're now imagining Moloch as a sentient Facebook page.

Best movie EVER.

lol Moloch is FacebooK!
I hope they do make it, it'll be interesting to see another persons take on it and with different actors, obviously it will never be as good as the original or the tv series but I'm still intrigued and would definatly watch it 😀

My view on the "Buffy" reboot is exactly the same as my view on the proposed "Highlander" reboot. I will almost certainly see both, and I will go in the hopes of liking them both. But whether or not I do won't effect my enjoyment of Christopher Lambert and Adrian Paul or Sarah Michelle Gellar in the least. Christopher is still Connor, Adrian is still Duncan, and Sarah is still Buffy. Whatever comes later are just shadows of the real thing.
