New season 9 cover art

With Angel operating mainly around London anr the surrounding area, I wonder what's going to happen to Angel Investigations and the LA crew. Will they join Angel and Faith, or stay where they are, which pretty much means that they'll be written out of the story line? I would really hate to think that we've seen the last of Gunn, Illyria, Connor, or even Wes and Cordy.

They sort of answered that in Darkhorse's 2011 Wondercon Panel.

Scott Allie said they were focusing on Angel and Faith in the beginning, and the rest of the Fang Gang will be addressed either in Buffy s9 or mini-series spinoffs. They never stated which or if members of the Fang Gang will be on "Angel and Faith", but its safe to assume they will since the book is going to need more than 2 characters lol. Connor and Gunn were the names they threw out though.

Hope that helps

I'm quite excited about this news. Some time ago I actually planned out some fiction that I was going to call "Faith & Angel" (I still might) so hearing that the new ANGEL series is going to be "Angel & Faith" has me in extreme anticipation! Can't wait for it!

I don't think they will use the characters created by IDW. As to original TV characters, AFAIK, Connor will be on A&F, Spike and most likely Illyria will be on Buffy season 9. The only original character whose fate we don't know is Gunn.

Gage promises a "big twist" in the end of his first issue of A&F:

I'm intrigued...

And here is Steve Morris's Angel & Faith cover in all its glory. I must say, I love his Angel. Faith is also great, but Angel is just spot on.

Note the grave.

This cover reminds me SO much of Dr. Who.

I'm still very wary of S9 but with each little new bit of information we get, I'm feeling better about it.

Also, can we start an Angel Goes to Galway petition? He can't be in London and NOT go back! It's wrong!

Well, Morris HAD this to say about the cover:

blog entry said:
I wasn't given any specifics other than the city (London) and the Clock Tower of St Stephens (aka Big Ben) should be under construction (due to its date with a spaceship). There was one other bit of info that they mentioned, after I had finished the drawing"¦take a guess on what the addition was 😉

I totally pretend this is a Doctor Who reference and nobody can convince me otherwise.

If they don't have more involvement from the AI gang Im going to be sorely disappointed. Like I've said a million times, it's apparent that Angel doesn't do well without them; he needs them. Faith is great, Faith is a start. But he needs an ass-chewing from his friends. I sure hope that big surprise is a visit from Cordy!!

I like this piece, it's beautiful, but there is something REALLY weird going on with Faith's hands. They just seems so awkward or something. Angel, though, is absolutely perfect. Loving that image.

For me, it's her wrists. They're really THIN.
Anyone else notice on the Morris cover that the smoke coming off Angel's hand is creating a face? I wonder whose that is...

Nice catch!

Hmm? It kinda looks like Kitty!Twilight?

Or maybe it is just supposed to be his demon?

Realising that we here at Buffy Boards seem to have a group problem with how the hands look, I must point out that I don't like Faith's. They seem rather large for her body... and they look kind of manly. Maybe I have no eye for art, but that's my opinion...

I love it in general, however. Action packed! We can only hope the comic is as good as its cover!

I really like Rebekah Isaac's cover. I don't think it's supposed to capture the likenesses perfectly, so that's cool with me, and I like seeing Angel and Faith in action like this. I love the colors and I totally want Faith's boots! I also just watched an interview with Rebekah yesterday and she was soo cute I'm pretty sure I'm developing a crush on her. So head's up, my views might be kinda biased. 😀

I am undoubtedly reading far too much into this, but I find that her hands offer a balance between her femininity as a woman and the aggressive violence of her job.

Her right hand is clasped defiantly around the stake. It is strong. Powerful. She is wielding her weapon.

But then her left hand is playful, teasing. It is much softer, even delicate. It is almost seductive.

Okay, yes, I can sort of see where you're coming from with that angle, and that would be perfectly fine with me, if it didn't look awkward. Like Rik said in that rep she left me, it's like her wrists are too thin, or her fingers too long or something. It just doesn't look right to me.

Yeah, they are definitely disproportionate to the rest of her. Especially her head. But I kind of like it, for the reasons I gave above.
