New Slayer.

Let me find it..........it may take a few ive a large collection.....i think its a mini biog type thing......i bought it at a comic convention last year......

I also would be really interested in seeing this. I'd want to know what exactly was Joss's connection to this questionable work (if any), when did it come out (if it's pre-season 6, it's moot), what exactly was said, and by who exactly.

I'd also like to point out that every time this subject comes up, someone always turns up to say they saw something, somewhere by someone in mutant enemy (they're often not sure who) which definitively proclaims Faith is still the one and only chosen one in Season 7. I always request they produce it. I still haven't seen this mythical quote. Until I do, I'm going to state the opinion it's a Buffyverse legend. I don't believe it exists until I see it.

And we still haven't brought up her flat-lining in S6 either. You know the slighest, smallest hint of physical death can call the next slayer... which would have been interesting to see if a new slayer would pop up in S7, but she didn't.

OMG!! I have never heard/thought of that before, that is such an interesting point, so either there is a third slayer running around out there that no one knows about or she wasn't reactivated when she was resurrected! Oh crap I was about to go to bed, but now you've got me thinking!

Her heart had only stopped for a few seconds, in Prophecy Girl she was dead for a few minutes.

And we still haven't brought up her flat-lining in S6 either. You know the slighest, smallest hint of physical death can call the next slayer... which would have been interesting to see if a new slayer would pop up in S7, but she didn't.

Giles said in season 2, it does not matter how long the Slayer was dead as long as she was physically dead, another would be called!

I just thought of something....Buffy had to have been inserted back in to the line somehow in s6. Iirc, she mentions to the Slayers-in-Training, during one of her innumerable speeches, that the only way they can become the Slayer is thru either hers or Faith's death. Can't remember the exact quote, but I do remember her talking about it. So, all the time between Prophecy Girl and The Gift, she was not in the line, because of Kendra and Faith. But when the Scoobies bring her back in s6, the magic they used caused her to be reinserted?

Also the First tells her "These girls will never know real power unless you're dead".

It's quite apparent that Buffy's death will activate a new slayer post S6.

No there should not have been a new slayer called.
Buffy's first death triggered the next slayer, Kendra.

Then Kendra died and Faith was called. That shows that the main slayer line falls on Faith. But since all the slayers have been activated, if any of them dies except Buffy another will be called.

Buffy's death already activated another slayer, that fact that her second death didn't trigger another shows she cannot do it again.

But since all the slayers have been activated, if any of them dies except Buffy another will be called.
so, are you saying that if one of the slayers dies (e.g, kennedy, rona, vi...) then a new slayer will be called?
how does this work if ALL the potentials in the world have already been activated?
if one of the new slayers dies, there is no one else to call.

Yes, there is always some else to call.
When Willow activated the slayers she probably only activated the one over the age 13. Can you see a little girl trying to kill a vampire or demon, I know I can't.

but buffy specifically says 'EVERY girl with the power to be a slayer...'
so that would mean every girl with the potential became a slayer...i don't think willow had the power to pick and choose between the different ages.

that maybe Lyri, but it seems wrong to make a little girl grow up fast, so that she can fight evil. when your little you don't need the weight of the world on your shoulders.

i'm not saying that little girls should be made to fight...there should be an age limit for when they should be allowed to learn to fight. but every girl alive in the world at the time of willow's spell would have been activated.

Well i agree that the age thing wouldnt be an issue...every Potential alive no matter the age would be activated...from 2 year old to 80 year old(imagine a geriatiric slayer!!), i believe though Willow only activated Living Potentials....Born ones...so any that has to come will still be just a potential......so there will be a gap of Slayers being called of 13 years. The last of the Army of Slayers to live would be the one to pass on the essence, that to me would be when the line re integrates itself back into how it should be.....

But that is the fate of the Slayer, But if you think about it the little ones don't have to fight demons just because they were activated, hell the older ones don't have to. That was Buffys whole point in Chosen they now have the Choice to Fight, there is no Council telling them they have to, it is up to them.

I believe that every girl from now on will be active, from birth, Buffy says the words 'from now on' that to me makes it perminent.

i agree with you, DDLM...no one has really given much thought to OLDER slayers! (except you and me, apparently!)
i like the idea of the last girl from the army of slayers being the one to pass on the power, it makes sense...for those of you who have read fray! it reverts the line back to what it was.

The idea was as I see it was that the girls/women older enought to fight where activated. I can not see an 80 yr old woman betting a vampire over the head with a cane, thought that is a funny thought. Someone that age should be enjoying the rest of there life.

I know that every time I say this that I risk getting fruit thrown at me, for questioning Joss, but he did write Fray before the ending of Buffy, that’s why I would not conceder this a just reason for saying that not all the potentials ever will be active, Now if Joss where to make something in the future that’s says that Willows spell will not activate the new potentials, then Im wrong, or if he says that someone does something to unactivate the potentials.

So I haven’t read Fray in a while but doesn’t it say there was a battle and afterwards all Magick and Demons disappeared. But the Slayer line still carried on, we know that Slayers were still activated but never called, what if there was still a main Slayer line carrying on through the years then after the final battle the spell that activates potentials was broken, making the line back to one again?

But we see the little girl in Chosen being activaed there is no way she was ready, it does not go by who is ready, it goes by who is availiable.
