i hadnt seen any of the show, i just went and took a peek. My god, this guy is Xander, and Dr Phil called him out on his bullshit, and he walked off. The whole thing was very awkward.

I'm sorry, but what did Nick expect? Honestly, Dr. Phil has been on the air for YEARS doing this type of stuff...it shouldn't have been a surprise for Nick. Anyone should have seen this coming a mile away.

It's annoying when people sign up for something then turn around and bash it when it didn't go the way they were hoping. Nick obviously wanted attention since he was shopping around hoping to meet with Dr.Drew. Maybe he should set up an appointment with a licensed professional and try and make some self improvement.

I think NB's attention-seeking may be a deep-rooted issue for him due to being molested as a child & it being ignored by every authority figure in his life. I think he seeks attention (from media) & adoration from fans because of that. Sad story, really.

So he was shopping around for DR tv hosts hehehehe, classic Xander. From what Dr phil says, Xander went nuts before the taping, threatening his girlfriend and the police was called, no wonder Dr Phil was not in any mood to be made a fool of.

I just thought it was a really telling insight into a mentally ill, addict's head. Brendon seems to have many complexes. It's sad to watch. As much as I know a bit about the addiction and depression side of things, I have no idea how suffering molestation as a child would affect your mentality, too. I think it's his anxiety that is holding him back the most. Most likely the anxiety was caused from the abuse as a child, along with the depression. He could possibly even be exhibiting symptoms of PTSD due to his childhood abuse. That would explain a lot RE his complexes and behaviour. What a shame.

It is a really sad situation. Hopefully he can find a way out of it. :(

He's been in rehab a few times.. I honestly dont think he has hit bottom yet. As long as he can go out and see his fans and sign autographs I think it will be harder for him to really make the change. Honestly his fans are just as enabling as anyone else in his life.

Well, there is still Dr. Oz if he can't get Dr. Drew... or he could do what the millions of regular people do, pick up a phone, call and make an appointment. Why just talk about 'celebrity' doctors with TV shows?

I agree. Sadly, things can get a lot worse for him. Hopefully he can get himself legit treatment.

agree, i see that in this forum. Honestly, xander is being chaotic and a bothersome mess, and he should be called out. I wouldnt have much problem with him if he wouldn't be bothering other people with his problems, like breaking private property, going into bars and hotels and not paying. He's making his problem other people's problem.

At least his mom called him out on his attention seeking. It was obvious that the help was there, but xander didnt want that kind of help, he wanted to help other with his problems😵. Dr phil was masterful at the psychological game, Xander thought he was gonna control that show but Dr Phil wasnt having it, you cannot bullshit a guy like that unless he wants to allow it.

Can you just explain which bit of this is funny? Could you also explain what you mean by classic Xander? Do you mean Nicholas is becoming a fictional character and is now acting like him? Or do you mean this is how Nicholas has acted in the past and is now so common it has become classic?

everything🙂. i don't thin he's acting, i think he's being himself. Well yes he has acted like this in the past, so yes you can say it's become common.

Well I'm glad you find the depression and alcohol addiction that is being faced by a sexual abuse victim entertaining.

Well i dont necessary find those funny, i find the selfish entitled actions funny , i find the weird behavior funny , and more importantly i find the excuses and the enabling mentality of his fans funny. from what i saw of the show his mom is no longer making excuses for him, she's fed up. This guy is threatening his girlfriend before the show, throwing temper tantrums and destroying private property, pretty much being an axx . He was offered good help but he didnt want it, he just wanted the attention and he got it thou i think not the type he wanted.

I think you should choose your words more carefully when you're talking about a real person and situations that others have also encountered. The situation Nicholas is in right now has an awful lot of similarities to a person I used to know. That person later committed suicide and it's been hard for the people affected by it.

So while I can understand disapproving of his behaviour and decision making I don't think it's appropriate to use the word funny.

I may be wrong but I do not think they mean funny as comical. I use the word funny a lot also, but not in the comical sense.. funny as in something is curious or odd. That's how I took their usage. Maybe I was wrong though.

Sorry for your friend. i think Buffy Summers has a point.

I think there's an enabling mentality by some of his fans, You're sick nicholas while he keeps destroying and being violent, we understand you, you are great nicholas. i think he needs tough love. People around him want to help him, he just doesnt want it. From what his mom said, this selfishness and throwing tantrums have always been common on him when he doesnt get his way. The whole Dr Phil debacle was weird and awkward, and yes somewhat funny. he said something very weird after he left the stage, he said that he wanted to sign some autographs for fans?, and that's the whole point, did he go there for help?

Please calm down. If this hits too close to home for you, please consider removing yourself from the discussion.
I'm calm but I will make this my last post here. I think it was a point worth mentioning.

@Mr. Pole I brought the word funny into the conversation in response to laughter about the situation and conflating Xander with Nicholas.

Sorry for your friend.
Thank you. There is a place for tough love and other ways to help of course. I stand by my recommendation that you should choose your words carefully when talking about real people and difficult situations.

I agree that he probably needs some tough love, but I also think that before he can make any serious steps in recovery he has to want it for himself. His defensive attitude and actions as well has his choice in treatment (or lack thereof really) shows that he isn't 100% on board with recovery. Maybe his problems are so serious that he is incapable of making that decision on his own, so that's where the tough love could help.

Didn't Nick recently line up another acting gig? I think that could help him some; if he can clean up his act enough to keep the job. This is some arm chair diagnosis, but I've always thought that low self esteem played a big role in his troubles. Constantly working the con circuit and reliving the glory days probably didn't do much other than remind him that his best work was long behind him. He'd also get into a lot of trouble at or around cons.

Hopefully all the attention he is getting from this will inspire him to take a hard look at his life and take the necessary steps to get better.

Yes he needs tough love. I said in an earlier post that if he is mentally unstable and cant make good decisions then his family should go to court and take him into their custody and force him to treatment.

I think he's career for the most part is over or at least hollywood might not be very interested in him especially after these incidents. I notice hollywood is a lot about connections and having great relations with people in the business. People who become rude, disrespectful or violent seemed to be blackballed and rarely forgiven.

Oh I dunno, look at Robert Downey jr . 🙂
yes, i was thinking of him when i wrote that and was gonna explain why his case was different, but i didnt. Robert had a bigger career and was beloved by hollywood types, kind of like heath ledger. I dont remember robert having violent episodes or being perceve nuts during his run.
