We all know the SMG is a very talented actress and that she probably wouldn't be in the spotlight today if it wasn't for Buffy.
And we all know that Sarah seems to be abscent from every DVD boxset (except for 5 second in DVD season6).
But to me this sorta seems a bit ungrateful (OK you can bite my head off!) seeing as how the fans are the ones who put her where she is now. You think she could show a little thankfullness. I like SMG, i really do (Anyone seen Sipmly Irresitable.. that film had me up to 5AM day-dreaming). But the total lack of presentness on any of the dvds sorta annoys me.
What do the rest of you think.
(also i love amber benson and i'm desperate to see chance) :turkey:

It doesnt bother me, since most main actors from shows dont do much with the dvds, you dont see Alyson or Nick on the dvds do you? Doing stuff for dvds is like the last thing on her list of do's, she has a life away from buffy and its not showing dissrespect to us.

Disrespecting us would intail bashing the show or the fans.

She gave us 7 years of Buffy what more do you want? She couldve ended the show anytime her contract had to be renewed but she didnt, she stayed on and gave us something to watch every tuesday night.

I do think that she should make a long or even decent appearence on the Dvd. It's just a nice thing to do for the fans.

I agree with you ChosenOne.

If it wasn't for us she would still be doing those Burger King ads.

I mean don't get me wrong I think she's great but since season 7 my opinion of her has started to change a bit.

She rarely does autographs, doesn't bother to show up to the wrap party and won't even grace us with her presence on the DVD's. But she can do an interview for her movies like Cruel Intentions (I don't know about Scooby Doo cos I don't have the DVD or want it)

Not a problem for me...She's doing what she thinks is right..You can't make anyone appear on dvds and as I see it..Her role was always the most demanding one and she might have not had any intention of spending additional time on preparing dvd bonuses but rather go home...

I don't think she's disrespecting us. but just a little acknoladgement(bad spelling) that we are here would be nice. And i so agree she will do interview for films etc. but not for Buffy(i know it's over know but still) and when's the last time you saw her give an interview for the Buffy Mag(the UK one anyway!).. the answer never! :bootyshak

She's a busy girl, has been on the show and is in real life. She often spends her summer, when they usually do all these interviews and stuff doing films or getting married. She didn't attend the wrap party because literally the day after filming chosen she was whisked off the scooby doo. They did however have a little celebration thingy on set.

For all we know she may be contracted to do interviews and stuff for the DVDs when she signs up for films. It'd be nice for Sarah to do a commentary or something but she wouldn't contribute anything major in the brief interviews of everyone they do on the DVDs because surely theres not that much to say. They all just tell the same story.

I have to agree with Primal Slayer on this one. If Nick Brendon or Alyson Hannigan don't really bother to appear on the DVDs, why should Sarah? To be perfectly frank, I'm just glad that I was able to enjoy her perform seven seasons of BUFFY. That is all that really matters to me.

Primal Slayer: Alyson and Nick have been on loads of DVD extras. True they aren't in as many as Antony Head, James marsters or Emma Caufiled, but at least they are in some. Like SMG Alyson is always busy but she is in the extras. Nick isn't really as busy as the other actors on Buffy but he has an alcohol problem so that was probably stopping him.

ChosenOne: I agree with you. I've noticed alot of actors and mainly actresses on cult T.V shows or films disown themselves from whatever cult character they play. For example Halie Berry won't play Storm in the X-men films anymore because none of the storylines are big enough for her. I think alot of actors after a while feel embaressed about being in anything cult or they get a bit big headed and think they are too good for cult roles. I'm not saying this is the case for SMG but I think it's possible that it is the case as it happens to countless actors.

shes trying to avoid a typecast. the girl still needs to make some money. this is her job
I have some Alias DVD an that is sorta a cult show but Jennifer Garner features very heavily in them even though see is off doing films and stuff to but generally the same amount the SMG does. (But Jennifer isn't married)
and Aly and Nick are always on the dvds (nick more than aly) and also SMG and Aly and Emma Caulufield didn't voice their charachters in the Buffy videogame.
Aly voiced for the 1st game but SMG didn't. none of them did it for the 2nd one.
Anthony head and Amber benson are always on tap and i have great respect for them because of that.

Yes but Jennifer Garner isn't as widely known as SMG, I'm guessing thats why shes doing Elecktra. Aly didn't do her voice for Chaos Bleeds because she was filming American Wedding.

If Nick Brendon or Alyson Hannigan don't really bother to appear on the DVDs, why should Sarah?

Because Sarah is the real star of the show. David does 'bother' to appear on the DVDs and he even has a child.
Nick and Aly did appear on some DVDs anyway.

To be honest, I don't like Sarah at all. Her 'I don't care for BTVS' attitude always gets on my nerves. BTVS is the show that made her famous, and without us,BTVS fans she would still be doing BK adds, as TheChosenOne said.

But,we have to understand her behavior, after all, bloody Scoobie Doo movies rock. They are as good as Titanic and Lord Of The Rings 🙄.. Who'd prefer to show a bit of love to their fans to make horrible stupid movies with their ugly husband?...oh,wait,Sarah does,...she really is weird after all

Sighhhhhh.....this arguments comes up sooo much.

No I don't think she's being ungrateful. I love SMG. If I met her, I would personally walk up to her and say thank you for seven wonderful years of Buffy. The girl has been working non-stop pretty much since she started the show. I can't even imagine being that busy and yes I would probably rather spend some time with my hubby than sit in a booth recording a commentary or something like that. JMO though.

lol she wouldnt be doring burger king ads, she did a soap opera without us and that already made her successful. Not as well-known as Buffy did but it made her known. And she made successful movies.

And without her we wouldnt have Buffy so it works both ways.

And how do we know she rarely does autographs? None of us have approached her and she hasnt turned down anyone that we know of.

And SMG did interviews about Buffy during S1-4, she went on the talk shows and talked about it. She didnt do the show for us, she didnt make her movies for us. She did them for herself.

When she does a movie she does interviews just about that for about 6 months so she can advertise it, its not like she does 7 years of interviews about it.

I know that Aly also has other things to do but the thing about SMG is that buffy is that last thing on her mind after S5 since she had new things in her life and she didnt worry about the show that much anymore. And now she likes to spend most of her time with her husband or filming a movie...she is a normal actress.

Sarah makes most of her career, she is the one that is doing the roles and going to the auditons to act for them. NOT US. We just watch and help support her. She didnt get any of her roles in her movies because of Buffy, she got them because she could act. Just like we didnt get her the role of Buffy, she did. If it were up to the people that ran the show when they first saw her she would be Cordelia.

As for the Halle Berry thing, nothing has been comfirmed. There was one report that said that she will be doing X3 since they said they would write a bigger part for her charecter. Thats all she wants, she doesnt want to have 5 lines during the whole movie.

David has said that he wouldnt want to do a Angel tv-movie, so is that disrespecting us?

Amber didnt want to do Tara agian because of how they wanted the charecter to return. Is that disrespecting us?

And something that I forgot to add above: The writing of Buffy is what made it great, and its what got it nominations at the emmys and in the magazines. We didnt help with that, and if the writers didnt go good work then we wouldnt be watching. So its not 100% we make their carrer.

Just like some of us are still in school, our teachers teach us what we need to know but they arent the ones that get us through life and into collage and onto the next step in life. We do that ourselves.

None of the actors are disrespecting anyone. They all have their own lives. Giving back to the fans is very courteous of them. I was watching this Mtv show Fanatic. So this fan was in love with SMG. SMG appeared on an interview for the show. She was on her Buffy set and was so sweet. She is very talented and seems outgoing. BTVS was a huge stepping stone for her. The actors gave 100% on the show. They allowed the "Once More, With Feeling" cd to come out. I appreciate the Dvd items being put out. Any extras are just that extra. Bonus. Ok so not appearing on a dvd should give bad impressions of a person.

If you think about (and I know this sounds mean) but the life of a celebrity is always in the public eye.

On the subject of autographs, if you saw SMG in the street (Rarely) and went up to her I am sure she would sign an autograph for you. But I amtlking about merchandise, Comics, Books, Audio etc. You rarely see her signature on any of those.

I know she is busy with life and stuff, but every once in a while it would be nice to see her at a convention (Which I am sure if she did would sell out on the first day) etc.

As for the Angel tv movie. I think it is definatly in the pipeline as I saw an article on the BBC website about it saying that and Joss feels sure that David will paticipate 🙂 (Fingers crossed)

It would be cool if it picked up from the end of season 5.

Well those are my views anyway 🙂

I've seen that special too!!! She was soo sweet to the fan!!

There are tons of interviews and special projects out there that Sarah has done.

I remember I saw a whole article in Marie Claire magazine about her visiting the victims of the forest fires in California, and she marketed that butterfly necklace to help rebuild the forests (I bought one!).

Then there was that ad for the scarf which went to a good cause, it might have been breast cancer, can't remember 100%.

Also, she does alot of charity auctions and such. I figure if she's using her celebrity status for such good causes, and that happens to keep her to busy to do commentaries and such...I'm willing to live with that.

I don't think it's disrespectful. I agree that many of the actors are not shown prominently on the DVD's. So why get down on Sarah, when others are at fault.

And, how do you know she wouldn't have been anywhere without BtVS? Do you have a crystal ball? Can you see the future. I doubt it.

She gave us the character of Buffy, and now she's moving on with her JOB.

I agree with Jenny that if I ever met her, I would praise her for her seven years and appreciate it, and not complain that she doesn't care about her fans. Whatever.

I agree that SMG has given us 7 great years and i would be the first in line to say "thanks". She has got other things on her plate, she has moved. But before she did any moving she sorta was like "I'll only do it if i have to". She was exhausted from doing Buffy, but even if she was on the DVD or anything for that matter and said thnaks for watching the show or something like that, i would never say a bad word about her again.. actually here in Ireland during Season 5 there was a show on NET2 called The Fame Game where people had to go around the world and track down their idols well this guy tracked down Sarah and blagged his way into the Kids Choice Awards (Is that the one with the Surfboards as awards, well it was that one) and she took the camera in her hand and said Hello to all my fans in Ireland and thanks for watchin' Buffy. So forgetabout what i said, SMG you are really nice person. In some ways!!

The following is a quote from www.eonline.com

She Slays 'Em: Yes, we're surprised, too, when Sarah Michelle Gellar says: "This is my first time [at Comic-Con], so I'm a little nervous." As hard as it is to believe that Buffy'd never been, Gellar explains why just moments before hitting the stage to promote Japanese-y thriller The Grudge. "They'll ask questions that I can't answer, and they'll be like, 'In Buffy episode 4.32...' and I'll be going, 'Oh God, oh God, okay...there was a vampire and...' "

Sarah has done a Comic Convention! The apocalypse MUST be near 😉
