Obesity

Why? That sounds a bit crazy.

Because I gotta see if everything is under control .. And how much I burn during the day.. It *is* quite crazy..

Oh, that's not good hun. You can't loose a lot of weight in that time, and you'll just be depressed about not loosing it. :/

I know, believe me. I've been there 🙁 But as I said, I just feel like I see how much I burn throughout the day.. But in 2011 I will weigh myself once a week! xD

Wait till you become a woman. 😀
I CAN'T WAIT!

I think it's quite counter-productive constantly weighing yourself as PrincessBuffy16 says. It can't lead to anything good because when you reach your target weight you could set it lower and repeat the process until you become dangerously thin. This is what happened to Karen Carpenter and it was a complete tragedy. It is much healthier to abandon the scales and instead go by how you feel.

I could not agree more!
I feel very comfy in my body.. but I just keep thinking.. "Okay, I lost 26 lbs.. Nothing will happen if I lose 10 more"..

I'm not overweight, in fact some people would probably even call me skinny, but that's more down to good genes than healthy eating or exercise. I could definitely tone up and I do try, but I guess I do everything in that area kinda half-heartedly - I'm a vegetarian and I go for runs every now and then (about twice a week from March until Oktober), but apart from that I'm pretty lazy. I'm a full-time student and I hold down two jobs, so I simply don't have the time to cook proper meals, so I mostly live off ramen noodles and cereal (unless my flatmate takes pity and makes dinner for me).

Here's the thing: Everything in moderation. I gained a lot of weight because I was depressed. Comfort food and all. Then my twin moved to California, and while there, he's been giving me little tips on what to do. Less salt, less sugar, less in general. I take everything I'm about to eat and cut it in half. By the end of my meal, I now have left overs, so it saves money, and I'm still not hungry. Most of the time I eat out of boredom. There's also the fact that I want to prove to my brother I can do this. I've lost 24 lbs already.

Weight Watchers helps me a lot, but they're expensive. I take what I learned from going there a few years ago. That's where I got the trick to order a to-go box with my food at restaurants. Put half of the meal away. Out of sight, out of mind. I do have a problem exercising, but I have arthritis in my knees, so a lot of things are a no-go for me. I do love walking though.

I'm a vegetarian too! I'd say you have nothing to worry about, if you feel healthy continue as you are.

Here's a tip: have a glass of water before eating and smaller portions will fill you right up 🙂

That's a good point too.
Yes, I started making my coffee a bit more healthy. Once upon a time, I put 1 small spoon of coffee, 3 small spoons of sugar and 2 sweet-lows. Now I put put even less coffee, 1 small spoon of sugar, and 2 sweet-lows, mostly water and a bit of milk. And you know what, I got used to it, to the new portions, and it feels better in my mind.

By the way, yes, I put in my coffee sugar AND sweet-low!

Problem with drinking water, I get addicted to it. I can't stop drinking water all day long, for days. I might drink even 16 glasses a day. I had cases where I almost threw up, and other cases where I had awful pain in my stomach for a few hours.

Christopher agrees: What is sweet-low? Sounds like they name of a Porn movie or something.
fake sweet something with only 1 calory in each (could come in "pills" and could come in the shape of little baggies). I use it instead of sugar.

That I don't know anything about.. Don't drink coffee. But before I was used to put sugar in my tea.. No I don't do that either 😀 It feels healthier.

I use a touch of honey in tea, along with milk. Not as much sugar.

Thing is, I have a lot of scar tissue in my esophagus, just above my collar bone. It's left over from a surgery. I have to drink at least two glasses of water with my meals or I choke. It's incredibly annoying. But I drink a lot of water.

I don't even like coffee! It tastes bad. But it's addicting. I'm careful though not to have too any cups in one day.

As someone who DOES have a few extra pounds on her body, let me just say something...
EVEN THOUGH someone may have a medical issue that keeps them from losing weight easily, there are still ways that you can get the weight off-- IF you want to badly enough.
I have been fat all my life, save for a 2 year span after I graduated high school. I grew up in a family of people who loved to eat, and who fried everything in sight. I'm 28 years old, and I've spent all but 2 years of my life being more than 60 pounds overweight. Part of it is because of a thyroid issue, but the other part is because I am lazy.
Yes I said it; I'm lazy. Normally, I don't enjoy doing anything that causes me to sweat. And being so overweight, I hate to go to a gym to workout because I don't want people to look at me and make fun of me for being fat.
In the last 2 years, I've begun trying to lose the weight. So far I've lost 40 pounds. I could have lost more, but you know what? I'm still lazy. Even though I don't want to be fat anymore, I also don't want to work out, which causes a problem for me. LOL I have trouble motivating myself to get off the computer and do something, but I have come to realize a few things.
All my life, my parents were never in good enough shape to do things with me. When I played on sports team as a young girl, neither one of my parents was in good enough shape to help me practice. I always hated that all my friends had parents who would take them to the batting cages or the ballfield to practice, while I never got to do that.
I've now seen my father have not one, but two triple-bypass surgeries on his heart, and 1 double-bypass on his groin because of the health problems he's brought on himself due to an unhealthy diet and not getting enough exercise. The second time he went in for surgery, he almost died on the table (which is what brought on the bypass in his groin; they had to graft the vein to his heart to save him).
I NEVER want my kids to ever have to go through that, so I've made necessary changed to my diet and lifestyle to life a healthier life. I have cut out 98% of the junk food I used to allow myself to eat, and I hardly ever drink sodas. I also make it a point to get in some sort of exercise at least 3 days a week, and it's made an enormous difference in how I feel. I admit, I could work a little harder than I do, but it's all about baby steps... Even taking the stairs instead of the elevator, or going for a 20 minute walk helps a LOT.
It's really not as impossible as some people make it seem to lose weight. It irritates me when people whine and complain that they can't lose, yet they refuse to make any changes in their lifestyle (like my mom and sister).

The laziness thing is what I think will eventually make me fat in the future, too. Eating healthily can only do so much.

I'm really lazy too. I commend you for changing the way you live to help your kids have a better life. Great job Britt!

I gotta say. I began to gain weight when I was like 10, and thats mainly because I was depressed about my life. Funny right? It was just before my 10th birthday, every year i used to spend the summer with my dad who was an over the road truck driver. Well that summer I went with him and then right after my birthday around August 20th my mom called and said she needed me to live with my dad for a while. I got no real explination or anything just got my stuff packed up and I was stuck in Florida with my step mom who hated me and would punish me for no good reason. I was used to Ohio's climate and Florida's was just horrible so I didn't want to be outside and I didn't have friends so I just ate and sat around doing pretty much nothing. My step mom would tell me my mom hated me and she didn't want me anymore which led to eating more. six months later my mom moved me back with her. She had sent me to my dads cause she met someone online and wanted to make sure he wasn't some psychopath child molester or anything.

After that honestly I was happy but because my body got used to not exercising like it used to I got tired easily when I did play and eventually it was just too hard.... then as I got into my teens and all... I got to a certain weight and stayed there... the only time it changed was when i was pregnant I lost weight then after I gained... Now i'm back down to that same weight and it doesn't change. My doctor says its stress related due to my mother in law and my living situation. Because I do try to watch what I eat and I do go out and play with Jonathan a lot.

I know a lot of the time most people just find it hard to find time to exercise. Between work, and the family. You get run down and forget to do things that should be important like exercise.

I'm fat and lazy. So what? Fat gives you something starting with "b" and ending with "oobs", so I'm not complaining. (sw)

That said, though, I am glad that I'm 35 kilos lighter nowadays than I was around '99. When you can't walk 100 yards in one go anymore and start risking suffocation under your own weight while sleeping, the fun pretty much is over. I'm definitely still firmly in the obese category with no intention of going out of it, TYVM, but not as morbidly anymore as back then.

A fat girl with big boobs is still a fat girl though, doesn't increase their attractiveness. Lots of men (such as myself) prefer them smaller, anyway. However you shouldn't care about that because it's not important- the important thing is that you do something about being overweight. I'd hate to come on here one day and see that you'd had a heart attack and perished. This isn't about being thin, this is about staying alive. I and I'm sure many others on this forum would be able to help and give you advice, but you'd have to want it. Please give this some serious thought.
