What'd you guys think?

i thought it was an alright epp.. the plot twist was nice.. what did amanda say happened to her sweater? it didnt seem like that was enough time to walk from buffy's house, do science, get attacked then bump into dawn.....

amanda's a stick! she'd get snapped in two.. that instinct thing was a little far-fetched (what happened when she fought)

This was a big time filler episode in my opinion. The scene at the end with Dawn and Xander was touching, but really the only thing of any substance. There was really nothing funny in this episode, and the return of Spike was just completely uneventful. I very rarely openly criticize episodes, but I was just expecting much more after the week off. The First Evil needs to get off it's butt lol

i dont understand why they are all saying when buffy dies....SINCE of course buffy knows and the whole gang...that faith is the real slayer.......i know they are probably doing it for a reason.......but its bothering me.......also how did clem not even say HI to spike and why was he all over buffy and what do u think they said to eachother??? I loved how buffy just dropped the stake all of a sudden in the crypt they were in and left all the potentials in there!!! AND the ending scene was so sweet.....i cant believe they mentioned OZ......and xander was soo cool to dawn! I hope when feb sweeps come about......it gets a lot better!!

I thought it was a decent episode, but not great. Buffy was over speechy. I mean, how many "slaying is serious and about death and such" speeches can you give in one episode without getting boring?

So... did you think it was Dawn or the other girl. The second she walked into Buffy's office I thought, she's got to be a potential Slayer, and continued to think it later on... but I wanted ti to be Dawn too. Still, the speech at the end with Xander was so sweet. I've been waiting for him to say that for years.

And HOW did Xander and Buffy know to come to the school? I mean, REALLY. do they have a tracker on Dawn?

And Amanda IS a stick. scarily thin. disgustingly thin if you ask me. Though she pulled some kickass moves on that vamp.

It was cool when spike and Buffy locked the Slayerettes up witht that vamp, but Kennedy could take him easy. Still, seeing the glances between the SITs when Buffy was sitting on top of Spike... and Amanda later when Buffy was babbling to herself... I couldn't stop laughing. Something is SO gonna happen there again.

And uh.... is it just me, or are we missing an SIT? Where's Miss New York? The one with the seriously New York accent is gone. I don't remember her name, and I don't remember what she looks like, but I remember her voice and it isn't there anymore!

Dawn's stupidity is coming right back at me. "I'm chosen. I'm special. There are scary guys wihtout eyes coming after me. I think I'll climb out my window, tell no one I'm gone, and then go looking for a vampire."

*sigh*

I dislike Dawn (sorry, Dawn fans), so this ep was basicallt a 'meh' episode for me. It was alright, I guess. Seemed like a filler episode. I hope they're saving the good stuff for February sweeps. Amanda is disgustingly thin. Being a B/S shipper, I thought that it was cute at the beginning how she was so concerned about whether he was alright or not, and then how she was babbling on and on about her experiences w/ Spike. The SITs are majorly getting the B/S vibe. Who wouldn't? They're obviously still smitten. Anyway, that's my two sense.. I'm excited for the next episode, 'The Killer in Me'. But a rerun next week.. poo.

Willow did a locator spell remember? Once they saw that Dawn was gone Willow said she was going to do one and they all ran down stairs.

I agree that it wasn't the best episode ever (understatement of the year!) but it did have some moments. But, the only part that I got excited about was when Xander made that comment about Oz. Thats worth watching the entire episode, just to here his name! *sigh*

Writing wise, I didn't think it was bad, except for Buffy being so over-dramatic with her speeches when what these girls need is the actual fighting experience. If they die, big deal, then they're not the chosen one. Buffy didn't have so many instructions when she started out. She was just thrown into the presence of a Vamp (Becoming, part 1). If they can't handle a Vamp on their own, what business do they have fighting FE?

The SIT's are really starting to annoy me. Theres the super skinny annoying redhead. The annoying Brit (not Kennedy, who is the only likeable one to me). The black girl, who seems like she just doesn't have any business slaying. The new girl, who weighs about 80 lbs and has a face to make the dogs howl. I'm not asking for some big breasted blonde to be a SIT, just some girls with an appearance that doesn't make me embarassed to watch this show.

Dawn once again shows that she hasn't matured since her first episode in Season 5. Go.. run away and die, all you are good for is research, assuming you've learned how to read, since you never do your homework. You're just a pain in the ass to those who take care of you.

I'm wondering why Clem totally ignored Spike.

Whats on Spike's chest that he doesn't want Buffy to see?

Andrew is officially my favorite character for this season. When he was alone with Dawn and said, "Do you wanna play DragonBall Z?", I haven't laughed that hard all season.

Xander's speech at the end was good. He's kinda hard on himself though. He doesn't have powers, but he did save Buffy's life and he did prevent Willow from destroying the world.

I think its lame how easy they are on Dawn. Dawn easily could have died that night, and they brush it off like it was nothing. She wants to be treated like an adult? Act like one. Sure Buffy was reckless at that age, but she was the Slayer. Dawn is nothing special.

MIssing someone!

Yeah! What happened to the Lizzy Mguire girl? Did they suddenly forget her at Burger King or something?

Who wants to play Dragonball Z?😛

Agreeing with who ever thought this episode was boring and a total filler. I only liked when Andrew was being funny, and Anya was getting all excited about Dawn becoming a potential. The way she was looking at Dawn...she looked like she found a whole bag of money or something.

The best part was the ending. That speech at the end was perfect, and this episode definitely is a turning point for me Dawn-wise. I'm really starting to like her. That scene with Xander was perfect. What Xander said was something they both needed to hear. Dawn really needed that comfort and reassurance right there, and Xander needed it too. It's kinda weird; I kinda felt the whole 'I'm-the-guy-who-fixes-the-windows' line coming when Xander got up. So they don't have powers, but the two of them are needed most of all. They aren't full of themselves, and neither of 'em have gone evil yet; a plus in my book. They got powers; just not the supernatural kind.🙂

The whole episode was made better just because of that one scene.

Wow, some of you are hard on this episode. I liked it a lot. To me, what the writers are trying to achieve is so much more difficult than the goal of earlier seasons because this time around they're calling into question the whole perspective of the show. Slayers are chosen, slayers are destined, yeah yeah yeah. No one here can really relate on a personal level. Sure it's fun to watch Buffy's heroism week to week, but it's somewhat hard to identify with a girl who's fated to save the world. The writers tried to amplify the whole in-crowd aspect of the trainees. People were kind of turned off by it, but I think some people missed the point: you were supposed to be turned off by it. The episode created this cozy bunch of gifted kids who are better then all the rest--they're the ultimate clique. No one's going to relate, because the trainees' uniqueness was played up to the point of excluding the audience. Then the plot goes along, and in comes Xander, telling Dawn that the REAL trial in all of this is just being normal, being on the sides and helping, and caring for those who are gifted. No one will ever acknowledge their worth, much less acknowledge how painful it is to be ordingary. That's where the audience identification comes in, because no one in the real world has a pre-set plan in life. There are no supernatural callings, and we just figure things out as we go along. We'll certrainly never be recognized for being ordinary, and so Xander's speech at the end is kind of like this nod to the audience as much as it is to Dawn.

I thought it was great. It's obviously a tricky episode--but let's face it, they weren't doing things this ambitous or complex the first few years of the show. Obviously, the emotional payoff of a show like this is going to be subtle. Anyway, just thought I would defend the episode, because I really loved it. Dawn and Xander won me over.

Ha, I just thought of something--maybe this episode should have been called "Normal Again". It would be fitting in a lot of ways.

Your points are valid The First. I'm not really shooting down the theme of this episode because the last scene was very touching and well done. I'm shooting down how they established that theme.

Grar i hate how the writers are screwing with us!!

WHERE WAS GILES THIS EPP! the first goes away, HE goes away. what, afterb beljoxa's eye he just left?

I thought was episode good.

I didn't really like all those B/S moments in the beginning, middle, and a little bit in the end.

Poor Dawn, she just wanted to part of the group, but I was glad
that she wasn't a SIT.

I generally liked this episode, but it was the second one in which the pacing was off.

Giles, they said, was off picking up another SIT. I hear he'll be back next time.

I like the SITs, but with so many of them it's hard to develop their characters all at once. Kennedy is likable IMO and they are giving her a little bit of an edge. Not much time has been spent on Molly. And even I find Vi annoying. Not a lot has been done with Chloe either (was she the one missing this ep). Rona was whiney last time, but seemed to be having more of an edge to her this time. I didn't care for Amanda, but I can't say why, rubbed me the wrong way. ... Assuming that Kennedy IS too old, I can't imagine who a spin-off would be centered around.

Anya was good this time, Xander better, we didn't get to see Willow do much (I don't mean magic, I mean with the character), Dawn was well-played.

I can't wait for Andrew to die.

Wow, the chemistry between Buffy and Spike was just unbelievable. I so hope they get back together!
Very nice ep, building up and preparing for what is to come. Buffy put it clearly that everybody is re-grouping and that's what this ep was all about. Re-grouping and more training.
Leaving the SIT's locked up in that Crypt reminded me a bit of that scene when Angel locked Lindsay & Co into the wine cellar with Darla and Dru...just a slightly different end to the story.

I really like Dawn this season, however making her run away again was a bit annoying, but guess it was necessary for her to find the real SIT.

Can't wait for the next episode.

It was a good episode...especially with Andrew. He is the comic foil this season? What was up with that whole "blossoming into womanhood speech?" And the reaction when the SITs catch Spike and Buffy in their innuendos. "Well, it was comfy."

Correct me if I'm wrong, but haven't we seen Amanda earlier in the season as one of Buffy's counselees on her first day at work?

Amanda was complaining about some guy picking on her (again), and Buffy was encouraging her to stand up for herself. Amanda then said something like "I did! I smashed his face into the sidewalk and broke his jaw!"

At the time I thought it was just another illustration of how confusing a job it could be for Buffy to sort out what these kids needed from her, but now I'm wondering if that scene was supposed to be a foreshadowing of Amanda's SIT status...

I forgot to mention Andrew in my post. LOL, I love him! He is so hilarious! "I'm just like Vegeta from Dragon Ball Z.. I was a super Saiyan, but now I just fight on Goku's team".. he said it so funnily, and I loved how he followed it up with, "Do you want to play Dragon Ball Z?"! I hope they keep him on for a while, he makes me laugh every episode.
