I just finished watching tonight's ep and was very excited about discussing it so I started this thread.

Wow! is all I can say.

Obviously Spike is being manipulated by the Big Bad since we saw two Spikes - one good and one bad. He is so remorseful! I am SOOOOOOOOOOOO glad that Buffy realized what was going on.

So the guy in England - IMO he was the watcher of the SIT that died in this ep. There is obviously more to come from Giles camp.

Good storyline movement in this one too.

Best moment in the ep - when Spike says to Anya "why are you here?" and she says "well obviously for sex!". She was fabulous in that scene. And the best line was "Souless Spike would have me upside-down and halfway to happyland by now!" I nearly fell off the sofa laughing.

Next week also looks verrrrrrrry interesting. Spike goes after Andrew - wonder if he kills him....

And the scene with Buffy and Willow: B - "I have to get him (Spike) some blood." W - "Ooh...ya want me to kill Anya?" B - (sighing) "No." Too funny!!!

Just more evidence that this is going to be an awesome season!!!

haha....IT WAS GREAT! but i missed the first 20 min...if anyone could just fill me on just that!! PLEASE! and what about at the end of the ep?? Do u think whatever that was missed chopping over Giles head??? I HOPE...and also probably! i love spike right now! HE SO SWEET! and i love how he can cry...he so sexy when hes like this!

I loved this ep ( just like all the others lol). 😀 I thought James Marsters' acting was very good. We didn't find out a whole lot more about the big bad, except they left us hanging again with Giles nearly getting decapitated... I really want to know what the deal is with all of those killings though!

I also loved Aimee Mann and was very pleased that she played on the show, since I'm a diehard fan of hers. I thought it was really funny when she was walking out of the Bronze and she said, "Man, I hate playing in vampire towns." I can't wait for next weeks episode! It looks good! 😀

i did enjoy this episode - and it will definitely require several repeat viewings to catch everything.

i am fairly frustrated that Dawn isn't talking about what Joyce said to her. You would think that by now these individuals would know to talk about the things that happen to them - rather than keeping them trapped inside.

besides - she's doing exactly what she and Xander were yelling at Buffy about - not talking when things are bothering her.

arghhhh! but i guess that's how it's gonna play out, isn't it. 😡

looking forward to next weeks as well - looks like its going to be another funny episode. 🙂

Oookay

I just sat there completely still and quiet after the ending. hoooly crap.

So I was sort of let down since there isn't really a morph... just something in spike's head. oh well.. still looks extremely interesting

this storyline is getting sooooo complex I love it.. it reminds me of S5 or something. very very nice

"if I get vamped I'm going to bite your ass!"

Let me ask a question....Spike's whole motivation for killing those people, ie listening to the Big Bad (who went back and forth between Buffy and Spike doubles), was to get Buffy to kill him?
Ohterwise I am not real sure why Spike would buy into "Buffy" telling him to kill and doing it!! Also, not sure how his killing fits into the Big Bad's plan...the plan it kept referring to. LOVED that Buffy did not end up killing Spike...no doubt now, she still has feelings for him!!! It makes no sense otherwise to keep Spike alive...as Xander pointed out, endlessly.

Overall, still confused!!! Willow seems to have a handle on things though. I can even understand why Dawn is not being forthcoming regarding what "Joyce" told her....she desparately wants to believe that her mother contacted her and therefore wants to believe the message Joyce sent. Now that the rumor about Spike killing again is true, Dawn is more apt to believe her message as well.

Loved Anya!!! She was hilarious in every single scene! Plus, Xander's whispered rebuffs were funny too. But I agree with BuffyBot, the happyland quote, was the best quote of the episode!!

And, although I love Aimee Mann...what is the new trend of spending so much screen time profiling the bands?? Seems more Charmed/Dawson Creekish. And wastes time that should be spent on character development.

Giles!!!! He either kept his head or is going to become a ghost...betting on the first though! Great ending though!

sleepers

it was an interesting show.
it had alot of emotional depth involved. not as much as last week, though.
Anya's comment was the best. "souless spike would have me upside down and half way to happy land".
Giles is stil alive. he ducked. either that or the tweed is industrial strength.
the big bad is messing with spikes mind in the worst way. the chip works on a sub concious level. He thinks on some sort of level hes killing for the girl. he wants to do it to please buffy. and because morphy takes that form, he does it. I think the black outs are engineered by the bb to torture him. it doesnt like the fact that he has his soul.
personally I feel bad for spike. And souled spike is way cooler than souled angel.

My thoughts

Well, I don't think Spike did the killings. Recall when he hit Xander his chip spoke up...doubt he could kill with that I'd say that the big bad is doing the killings and planting false memories in Spike...maybe the killings aren't even happening and the whole thing is being faked by big bad. What better way of killing Spike from below than convincing him that he's killing?
Anyone else think it may be the Master? Although he was only a character for a short while he's been constantly referred to (almost never hear about the Mayor or Judge)--maybe something along the line of the xbox game storyline...would be a kinda cool way to end the series.....

Mmm, I'll have to rewatch it, but I think she didn't want to believe the message. Actually, I think it's both. She wants to believe it was her mother, but she doesn't want to believe the message.

I can also understand her hesitency to tell Buffy. If it was Joyce, then she could be thinking that Buffy will have to not choose her to save the world. A younger Dawn would have whined about that, but maybe the new and improved Dawn is trying to do the right thing by leaving it so Buffy can make the right choice. (If Buffy knew what "Joyce" had said, she would do everything she could to not make it come true.)

If, on the other hand, it isn't Joyce, maybe Dawn thinks it's best to not bring it up, so the relationship between Dawn and Buffy isn't weakened. Willow really didn't go into what Cassie said either, but I have a feeling that it will come out eventually.

Goodness. I was pretty creeped out by the whole Giles thing. I was glad to see him again in action. There was some morphing in this ep. It was Buffy turning into Spike. Anyway, as soon as I heard that harmonica playing during that scene where Buffy is following Spike I knew that was what set off Spike. But why? Why would that music spark something inside of him? I can't wait until next week's Thanksgiving ep. Putting Spike on Cold Turkey? Killing Anya for blood? Hilarious. Just hilarious. What's next? Xander becomes a member of a Dating Service?

Major Clues!!!

the reason Dawn didnt say anything is because of the PLOT...This is Buffy Remember....It will come back in a major way.

and what anya said is a major clue--------when you are evil you tend to tell the truth...The truth hurts.

Dawn is the key since Joyce came to her. It was Joyce, the gang is not beliving its Joyce because of the first evil in Cassie. Battle between Heaven and Hell.

Anyone think Giles gets killed, but comes back all Obi-Wan like in new episodes?? That ax did look pretty on target.

I think if they were going to kill Giles they wouldnt have left off as a Cliffhanger.

SPOILER

plus i read he is coming back for 10 shows.

If you go to www.buffyworld.com they should have the transcript posted by Friday, at the latest.

Here's a question, has anyone heard about next weeks Buffy?
Supposedly she contacts the Watcher's Council voluntarily to obtain information on the whereabouts of Giles, because nobody knows where he is! Is this creepy or what? I know that ASH signed on for atleast 8 episodes this season, but maybe this is his way to get out of the show for good? Especially after the whole scene with the axe coming down on his neck this week! Does anyone know that he is alive? Argh! Its so frustrating. Somebody talk to me!

The episode was good, but not great and not bad. I don't have much to say about the episode at all, except I thought the Anya part with Xander saying things under his breathe was hilarious, and the next part with Anya staying at the apartment. Anya is too adorable sometimes. Anyway, I really doubt Giles is going to die. (Plus, what would they do, make Ripper with a dead Giles?) I'm thinking he either does a quick block, or ducks just in time, and kicks that motha bleeper's *ss down!

I'm with FivebyFive. It was good. Not great. Not bad. Just good. I loved the Anya/Spike scene. That was hilarious. I'm pretty sure they're not going to kill Giles. He'll escape it somehow. The one thing I didn't like this episode is the fact Spike was remourseful. I like the character but I like him more when he's evil 🙂

I agree with you sis, he's prolly gonna duck. Your absolutely right, he's not going to die.

hehe, The Ripper with a dead Giles, hehe.

(Randy Giles!? Randy Giles!? Why didn't you just call me Horny Giles?! or Desperate-for-a-shag Giles!?)

Don't you just love Tabula Rasa? That was one of the greatest episodes ever!

Did anyone notice the figures in the black robes attacking Giles' friend looked small and slight like girls?

In the earlier episodes the guys chasing the girls in Istanbul and Germany were wearing blue robes.

We've been assuming the girls being chased were the good guys. What if it's the other way around.

Also the black robed figure who is swinging the axe at Giles in the end appears to be wearing some kind of nylon stocking mask.

What if the axe stops at the last minute, the figure pulls off the mask and it's someone we know? (Wouldn't it be cool if it was Faith)

Has anyone been watching Angel. Doesn't the creature that came up from the earth to eat humanity look like the picture of Danthazar from the seal of Danthazar.

Being that the chip only functions when Spike knows he can hurt someone, remember in S5 when he was speaking to Buffy about his past and was swinging at her? The chip didnt react cause he knew he wouldnt be able to hurt her. If this big bad playing with his mind could make him think he wouldnt be hurting the victims but instead just pleasing Buffy then its possible the chip wont react.

Yeah, I have. It does but when I first saw it (before the Angel ep) I thought it looked kinda like D'Hoffryn. Does anyone else think it looked kinda like him? Or am I hallucinating?
